(Note 1: This is NOT based off the DS game 'Riviera')
During the dawn of time, a group of men came from the darkness upon the planet of Odessa. Sealing the planet's phonons underground, deep within the Planet's Core, a massive build up of immense phonons has collected beneath the surface. Faced with an overload of phonons, and the possibility of a 'Planet Storm' (explosion of the earth), the world's inhabitants were devastated. They did all they could to hide the truth from the people, but it was inevitable.
A young aristocrat by the name of Aslan Rorrim is living within the manor of King Daedalus III in the flourishing city of Felkheim. After the castle was attacked when he was merely nine years old, the manor went up in flames, and due to the shock, lost all memory of his childhood. He now lives a sheltered life within the manor, his only hobby being archery and swordplay.
One day his instructor, the sergeant of the castle, Xelloss, had been kidnapped. Feeling like he had lost the only one he'd trusted since the castle's attack, he escaped the manor and set out to find him. Unfortunately, starting his memories from age nine and living inside the manor all this time, he's completely oblivious to the outside world.
He has no idea of the threat that lies right beneath his feet.
(Basically, the story revolving around Aslan turns from a quest to find his instructor, to a quest to stop the Planet Storm. If anyone's played Tales of the Abyss, treat it as the story of Luke fon Fabre, with a bit of differences in the major plot.)
