In each Final Fantasy, the Summoning appears in a different way. Which one was your favorite?
- Simple Summoning (FF to FFV) - These were simple summoning spells.
- Espers (FFVI) - Espers were creatures that could be equiped (their physical form was a small crystal) and called in battles. They attack and vanish. They also teached the characters magic.
- Materia (FFVII) - These summons were equiped in the swords and armour, and called in battles. They attack and vanish. They could also be leveled up, to increase damage.
- Guardian Forces (FFVIII) - These were given to the characters and could learn a lot of different abilities, like Magic Refinering and special abilities like Recover and Darkness. When called in battle, until they are summoned, they will take all damage done to the character that summoned them. After that, they attack (you could increase the damage done with the interactive ability "Boost") and vanish.
- Eidolons (FFIX) - Only Dagger and Eiko could use these. They were trapped as abilities inside acessories that could be equiped by the characters. They attack and vanish. Some of them, like Carbuncle and Fenrir, had different attacks that could be chosen by equiping special acessories to their caster (Ex. If you equip Eiko with the Mayden Prayer, Fenrir will attack with a Wind-based ability called Millenial Decay).
- Aeons (FFX) - Complete control over your summons. Do you need more to like this? Yuna was the only character that could summon Aeons. When summoned, you gain complete control over them, like a party member. This feature increased FFX's list of controlable party members from 7 (human party members) to 17 (human party members + 10 Aeons). And they could also learn different abilities by use of items.
- Summoning Job (FFXI) - A job you could earn in this game gives you the ability to summon beasts with huge power. One of the most respectable jobs in the game.
- Espers (FFXII) - You had to fight them to earn them. After that, you could control them in battle.
So, post and explain why.
