i was reading about birth by sleep and i saw a conversation between ven and xehanort and ven says to him that he has met him before. i think memories of xehanort isnt xehanorts memories but other people's memories of him. Also maybe sora did not fight xehanorts heartless, just the memories of him because sora is connected to ven.

Like if it was peoples memories of xehanort, it more so woulda stated memories of xehanort, not xehanorts memories.

as for xehanorts heartless they did in fact fight him, i mean unless of course mickey is wrong, plus u cant fight a memory of someone if they are real.
