yes an unusual topic but i feel its important
i have some rants about this game
i must admit its alot of fun
but i feel its doing damage to real music talent
too many times ive heard people comparing it to real instruemnts and it just dosnt seem right
pressing buttons to a list you see on a screen just isnt the same
but so many people are saying that its harder to do
in my opnion you cant compare the two
guitar uses the entire fret board and requires knowledge of notation
guitar hero requires none of that
this a serious dampen on real talent
if kids used their motivation for this game on a real instrument they could go somewhere in this world
its also brought back the predujice on the bass guitar
people used to always tell me i was stupid for playing bass
they all thort i should play guitar cus its got more strings and is harder to play
thanks to the red hot chilis inspiration of rock music that changed for the better
but on guitar hero if u really want to be good at it u tend to stay away from bass
meaning the harsh days of old are coming back
the bass styles of mark king and victoor wooten more than match those of jimi hendrix, brian may, jimi page, slash or any guitarist
and this dosnt even have to be so
if a wider range of music genres were put on the game it'd be much better
some funk tracks would certainly rid them of any misconceptions
most of the songs on guitar hero use bass as a "backing instrument" which is almost upsetting

a brilliant game but is it good for the real deal
ladies and gentlemen, Discuss

I agree with you. I've just started playing a real electric guitar about the begining of September and I'm really good, but it is a lot harder then Guitar Hero. I have played both and the real guitar is much harder. If the kids who played Guitar Hero with that much intrest with the real one, then they would do great with the real guitar and probably would go somewhere. The Guitar Hero "guitar" is not an instrument.

I think Guitar Hero is very fun.
But its also extremely overrated. I always hear people talking about it, and praising it saying how extremely awesome it is. It is very fun, I like the game, and I own one of them, but it is way overrated. Once you unlock everything its the same thing and mastered the difficulties its the same thing over and over again. The notes don't change or anything. Like, if "I love Rock and Roll" on expert started with Green, Blue, then Green. The next time you started that song on expert, it would still start with green, blue then green again.

I remember playing a game at a youth outing, and people were waiting to play Guitar Hero, they were getting a little impatient, and they asked "What point does [the game I was playing] have?" I didn't want to say anything back, because it would have come out wrong. but I will say that the game I was playing actually has a story and a reason why you are doing what you're doing. Guitar Hero would be better if it had some kind of story mode.
(The game I was playing was "DragonballZ:Budokai3" the game has a long story mode, various characters with their own story modes, extra modes, unlockables, and the AI does something different everytime you play them, its has more "point" to it than Guitar Hero IMO >.<)

umm its harder...if u do 5x faster expert mode with precision mode on...thats the only way i could think its harder. besides that guitar takes talent GH just takes memorizing.

Where I live nearly EVERYONE praises it >.<
I can't really speak for GH3, I've only played 1,2, and the 80s one.
It may have a story, and a good one, but I don't know.

Theres no way that 5x on expert is harder than actual guitar... OK

5 buttons on guitar hero, one strum bar considering all combinations of strumming and button variations, there are 720 possible combinations possible.

Standard electric guitar.
6 strings
22 frets
4 degrees of bending or pulling a string
5 picking techniques
and countless other ways you can combine techniques

just with those I listed in which there are countless more techniques

there are 2.330727909 x 10^27 combinations on a guitar (thanks for the calculations Justin)

so statistically guitar is unmeasurable more difficult to fully learn than guitar hero....

Sure you are good at a game and can whoop me at it, I know I'm not great at guitar hero. But I know to learn what I've learned on guitar and to get where I am took me a lot more effort than it did for you to beat "Through the Fire and Flames" on expert.

My best friend could whoop you on a real guitar lol, he can play through the fire and flames, and lots more like one winged angel, he is super sh*t good.

but making a debate on guitar hero, how dare you, very dare you

HL lol theres no way, I'm not gunna go on and on and brag, but I'm a studio artist, been playing since I was 4, doubt very seriously anyone you know is better than me, just saying though. I bet your friend is indeed a beast though.

But yeah, guitar vs guitar hero

to each their own, but guitar hero is indeed much simpler... but still props to those who own at it.

you know, sometimes, you can sound really rude..

& plus, be graceful, think about the debate instead of trying to create an arguement..

AND! i am a fan of both the guitar & guitar hero XD.
i like to mess around on an acoustic (not saying i'm particularly good, but it's fun), and i also love to play guitar hero, for the same reason (:

although, if i was to choose an instrument to play, i think i'd choose bass guitar. it's not easy, & is just as challenging as a normal guitar. most people do think that bass guitars are somewhat useless compared to electrics; however, without bass most of the songs that we all love would be nothing. bass guitars are used in more styles of music than normal guitars, and the fact that they're awesome should be recognised XD

if only more people thort like u
so many people think its made for enhancing the sound made by guitar
just like the songs on guitar hero
and it dosnt have to be that way

exactly!

bass guitars can be used in so many different ways, not JUST as a background beat. xD
just cos some dont have as many strings as an electric makes no difference to their importance. ^^

I play guitar hero in moderation. I can only stand the game for less than two hours with at least a week of not playing at all in between. I'm not saying that I don't like it, it just messes with my head and makes it harder for me to play real guitar.

As for bass guitars, I don't think that they are useless. I play electric and acoustic guitar and I can honestly say that I wish I knew how to play bass, not just to be a jack of all trades sort of musician, but because I know that if you play it right, it will sound great. I also want to get on really.

I want to learn how to play slap guitar. watch this amazing Asian play and you will be amazed

Well I started working on Drifting.

I got the first bit down ( all it really took was concentration.)

I hope I can get the rest of it without just getting frustrated and quitting.

It's hard to read the tab I got (guitar pro) because I can't really decipher which hand to use. I guess some more watching of the video is required.

Its harder to learn yes because its soo much more but i think GH3 would be harder to execute doing all the button sequences that fast.

Uhm newsflash, guitar hero plays less notes than are actually played on the guitar, so its actually inverse of what you said, there are more notes needed to play the same guitar hero song, and they are also spread over a larger are on an actual guitar.
