Okay, so I'm hearing all this stuff about the CoM battle system and how it sucks and blah blah all that but I decided to just give it a chance because I really want to see the storyline of it and so I go out and buy the game and I started playing for a bit and then I come to this freakin....like CARD GAME! battle system and I was so disapointed with it :(. I'm really trying to like it, I honestly am its just that I really dislike it. all I want to know is does it get better? or is it something that you have to gradually get used to? I'm not giving up on this game because I am determined to beat it..so yeah I have a bit of a dilemma >:(

I think it just depends on your preference in games. I'm like a total button masher so i guess this doesnt really suit my tastes :/

kh is awesome i don't care if ppl say it's a button masher..

The battle system is very unenjoyable at first and it takes a while to learn exactly
how to use it but once you do battles become easier and somewhat as fun as the
KH1 battle system though still different in its entirety. Bare with it though. Though
KH:CoM isn't one of my fav KH installments it was quite interesting to see a change
in the battle that offered a different gameplay entertainment. Note though that
KH:CoM becomes very repeditive and uninteresting in the first half of the game and
you may find yourself only playing to see those few mysterious cut scenes with
Namine, Axel, Riku, and Marlexia. It will get better towards the end just as all KH
games do.

My advice is to spend more time learning the battle system you can enjoy the game
early on in the plot.

Thanks for the info. I was just recently introduced to Axel in the game and hes awesome :). I also heard that you get to play as Riku after you've beat soras side of the story?

Key of Valor
03-12-2008, 02:47 AM
Ya thats cool. When Riku you start out pretty strong and get alot of really cool abilities.
There are also some things that Riku can't do that Sora can such as customize the deck.
The best part about KH:CoM is that it had two adventures in one. (Though both were
practically identical)

YourSkyy
03-12-2008, 02:54 AM
Do you go through the same worlds Sora did when playing as Riku?

Key of Valor
03-12-2008, 02:57 AM
Yep except they're smaller, no inner world plot, and in reversed order.
It's still quite entertaining though. The enjoyment of playing as Riku keeps
you playing through the game. Plus Riku does have his own special plot.

The battle system's not dumb-it's something different. :) And I liked being Riku better because he's suu much faster and stronger. x3

Fight as many enemies as you can early and often to build your levels. Acquire sleights whenever possible (new ones are available every five levels) and when you cant, take card points over health at a 3:1 ratio. The game is repetitive, but it's challenging and that makes it fun. You could also get KH2:FM+ so you could play RE:COM, but that's expensive if you have to buy the other components to play it. All in all, don't give up on COM if you already started playing it because it's an important part of the overall story of KH.

Point. I didn't really fancy CoM when I bought it, but now I luv it cuz you can b Riku *anime hearts*

I honestly prefer a more strategic based battle system instead of just mashing X as fast as you can and pressing triangle whenever a reaction command comes up. I really like CoM. I do.

YourSkyy

Yeah, I'm going to try and get used to it because I really want to play as Riku :D.

There is something better, You get to play as Riku When you beat it with Sora! And you get to summon King Mickey when you play as Riku!

I dont see the problem with the card-like battle system, it simply is ownage for me.

I didn't play Chain of Memories until after I beat Kingdom Hearts II like... five times. >< I had CoM the whole time, but I hadn't played it before. So I just started playing it one day when I was bored, and the battle system SUCKED!!! And it had barely any extra story content. It was like replaying the first game with some new characters thrown in. I don't know if it gets better at the end, cuz I'm stuck in Hollow Bastion. If you ask me, I don't think it's really worth playing the whole way through.

the game is very well writin and playable abut it should ease u into the game it just kinda tells u what 2 do and so go 4 it but it is very fun also if u beat the game u can play an alternate stroy as riku its freakin sweet riku rox compared 2 sora in that game(srry sora)

Reviving dead threads is so cool. COM is worth playing if you have it or if you really enjoy KH. The battle system becomes really simple when you get used to playing it and the story is interesting. I have played it many times and even played RE:COM when I got Final Mix+.

know what? bugger it, i'll just buy a Jap. (for, what the third time, it's an abreviation, not racist) PS2, it's just a whole lot less complicated then buying swap magic, then buying some other thing, and then setting it up.

Heh, watch, one time i wont have the parentheses thing above and i'll be cussed out through PM by some angry japanese dude.

LMAO, i like it how you add the parenthesis whenever you say Jap., just for people to take note that you're not being racist..but the truth is, adding that parenthesis just indicated and implies that you try to avoid being called racist but in some sense of sarcasm you are..:p (confusing, but you get the point!).

Yea, just go buy a Jap.(*ahem*, what he said) PS2..
