It's true. New users don't join the forum because there is a lot of activity in Web Families. The fact is, while Web Families is a good distraction and keeps current users active and around, we want to encourage active users to also post elsewhere in the forums to entice and entertain new users as well as non-web families users.

what does that have to do with advertising? but i can definitely see the point with the webfamilies. i'm actually almost never on there though.... but it would make the forum seem a little more active if more people did post elsewhere...

The simple fact that we will be popping up certain Web Families is pretty much advertising them to the community.
And yes, the Web Families are not really the reason of why members join the forums. Kingdom Hearts is, at the beginning. And so many centered posts inside Web Families kind of drags away the real point of "joining", that's why there wouldn't be really much of a point in advertising them.

but i know, i joined (for a noobish reason) but i joined nonetheless for kingdom hearts. i have to admit it would be boring w/o general chat, but i've gotten along just fine w/o the web families until recently.

Umm, basically in Web Families, there's no spam-free zone limits. lol, so you can spam all you want basically.
