Yes, I wish to make a sequel to FF IV.
But what I wish to happen is mainly to incorporate the idea of Cecil slowly being driven away from his sought light, giving in to that darkness he had controlled long ago. Though back then he was not controlled as much, this time will be different. Would it not be more entertaining and epic if I were to have him change personalitys and go 'insane' in a sense?
The problem I'm having is what to build around that base. That alone isn't sufficient enough to have an RPG. I need some help... Any ideas?

How about we explore ideas from other Final Fantasys... or deal more with some unexplored themes....
Like Chaos, have the crystal break into shards, etc...
I have not much idea of FFII.FFiV... been too much since I played it....
But I will help..

Thank you. Any help is of course appreciated.
Actually, FF II/IV is by far my favorite. As you may have noticed my constant use of Cecil...
That's not a bad idea. When the crystals dim in light, unforetold destruction is coming... But when there shattered? That would cause something greater.
Obviously, the old characters will come into play again.
Edward, Rosa, all of them.
First off, I think that I/we should figure out what happened with everyone after.
In other words, design the world before creating the story. Even though the world's already been created, what should be changed? Did Edwards empire ever get back on its feet after being violently defeated? Did Cecil and Rosa ever last and rule the empire? What happened to the dwarves? Did they begin communication with humans after they came from there domain to fight for there world?
So many questions need to be answered...

I agree, we must find a way to present the FFIV world to the ones who haven't played or don't remember...

But to do that the summary will have to include the past somewhere along the line, obviously.
I think the first thing we should do is figure it out... The thing's that have changed.
First on the list, I'd like to answer the question of what happened to the countries that were crushed. I don't believe it was ever answered in the game. To my knowledge, anyway.

Probably ew goverments were set up, and are in recontruction....
The summoners of the mist village? What happened to them anyway?

Since they were wiped out, Rydia was the only one left. Correct?
Rydia would have started to rebuild the Mist Village. They would most likely be allies of Baron from then on, as well. (Only because of the new Ruler and all)
When you break the characters down and tell what they would have done, it's like this.
Cecil & Rosa: Back to Baron. Rosa would have taken the place on the throne, and most likely Cecil would accompany her as King. Married as well.
Palom & Porom: Went back to Mysidia. Mysidia would open ties with Cecil, considering his past and all. Snake way (or something like that...) would be opened.
Edward (Bard): He would have gone to rebuild his own country. Damcyan would most likely be depending on Baron as well for supplies and help.
Yang: Fabul took the least damage from attacks. Therefore, I have little to say other than they would have helped rebuild others.
Edward (Edge): Well, Eblan was destroyed, and lived underground. I'd like to incorporate the idea of keeping those tunnels for plot purposes... Perhaps they rebuilt right above the tunnels, keeping homes down there?
Anyone I'm forgetting?
Basically, each one of these characters ties in to the nations where the 4 crystals resided, in some way.
The basis of the world will be reconstruction, yes. That would mean any new threat would pose a difficult problem for everyone, leaving Baron and perhaps Fabul there best line of offense.
