At the very end of the game, after Sora and Riku get out of the darkness and back to the island, after they meet back up with Kairi. The next scene is one where Riku is sitting on the starfruit tree on the little island, Sora walks up to him and they start talking... Then Kairi runs up to them with a message in a bottle that "washed up" on the shore of the island. They open it together and find out it's from King Mickey.

I think you are right. Also somewhere in the game she sends that letter in a bottle and it shows up later when only Riku and Sora are on that beach.
