For those of us lucky enough to be able to take part in this year's Jump Festa, here's something you should take notice of: the control schemes of both Final Fantasy Dissidia for the Sony PlayStation Portable and Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 for the Nintendo DS. Since you'll be partaking in the playable demos of both titles and all, you might as well know how to play 'em, right?

Looking at both games' control schemes, it seems that Square Enix pretty much know what they're doing, in terms of third-person character control. Final Fantasy Dissidia's control scheme is your basic attack-guard-jump button layout with the analogue controlling character movement, as well as a wall-run button and an assistant technique button. Things are a little bit different with Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days, with the DS's shoulder buttons pinch-hitting as the lock-on button when you press both of them at the same time. Here's hoping it toggles.

Here's a rough-and-ready translation of both control schemes:

Final Fantasy Dissidia:

* R: Guard
* R+X: Evade
* L: Lockon/lockoff
* D-pad: Camera rotate
* Analogue: Control character
* Square: HP Attack
* X: Jump
* Circle: Assistant technique
* Triangle: When there is a move marker, you can do a wall run and jump
* Start: Pause

Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days

* L: Move camera left
* R: Move camera right
* Press L or R twice: camera resets behind player
* L+R: Lockon
* D-pad: control character
* X: scroll through command list (attack, magic, item)
* A: perform command
* B: Jump, double tap for double jump, press with direction after jumping once to air slide
* Y: Reflect Guard, press with direction for dodge roll, after jumping press with direction to glide
* Start: pause

As for playable characters, it seems that in Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days, you'll be able to play as Roxas in the single-player missions, and Roxas, Axel, Xigbar and Saix during multiplayer (provided you have three other friends with you). Awesome.

I eally hope they incorporate a shortcut option somehow in the final build of 358/2 days. Scrolling down the command list in the heat of battle is quite troublesome for me.

Yeah that would be hard to do.
