View Full Version : Fuel Prices: Higher Than Ever.

Helix: The True Hero

Okay, I don't know if this has been happening to any of the other areas of the world, but the prices of fuel in America as of late have, quite literally, skyrocketed. Estimates of around $5.50 per gallon near the peak of summer have been predicted, and the cost doesn't seem to show signs of stopping for a breather.

The heightened prices, of course, originate from the shortages of oil, fuel, etc. deposits from the major suppliers of the world.

What can we do to stop these outrageous prices? Of course, an alternative fuel is the most obvious answer, but is it the easiest to go by?

robbie makin love
06-02-2008, 07:10 PM
its not the easiest but at this point alternative fuel is what we should be working towards
all we need is a safe way to store hydrogen and the whole problem is out of water
and maybe then our world leaders will stop invading places just to steal oil
the rising prices show just how much we need to change
whoever works out safe hydrogen storage is going to be rich rich rich

06-02-2008, 10:31 PM
inreasing more oil production isn't really going to help all that much is what we need is higher mpg standards and charging people if they have huge suv's and trucks..

Also we need to start expanding our alternative energy resources such nuclear, waves from the ocean, dams, wind, geothermal, etc..

my family in Italy say that it has already been over $6 a gallon in some places for years now, so we should stop complaining.

personally i think we need to stop trying every new alternative fuel and find the most cost-effective and reproducible way and just pour all of the government spending into that in order to make it a reality sooner. right now all the spending is scattered so thin amongst so many ideas its no wonder one universal fuel isn't even close to being used yet.

We can do nothing to stop the increasing price, except maybe find a cheaper way to desalinate water. There is a salt water treating company somehere(not sure where) that wastes enough fuel in a week for a car to reach the sun.

Decreasing the demand for the product will decrease the price.

Anyway, we should find a way to harness heat, is my belief. (Note: Solar panels do not harness heat energy, just light) There is heat everywhere, electrical apliances give off heat, earths core gives off plenty of heat, volcanoes and the sun too. If we could harness that I think prices would really go down.

Yeah, I've heard about how you've got these horrible prices. Let's see, 5.5 dollars per gallon? Over here we pay an average of around 7.2 dollars per gallon somewhere.
Now don't get me wrong, 5.5 is probably a lot more than what you're used to, I understand why you look at it as a problem. But I think what makes it such a big problem for you in America is the fact that you use cars way to much! You don't need to cut the Fuel prices, you need to cut your car usage.

Man! I have it good then at $3.85 then.

I heard rumors on CNN that gas prices would jump up to $10 a gallon in places if a Hurricane was coming.

I wish they could mass produce those cars that only consume fuel when you start the car and go so fast. Otherwise you are using the charge off a battery. Don't they get like 50 miles to a gallon or something?

Need to find a way to make them cheap for everyone to afford.

Sadly, To refine and ship a gallon of gasoline to the united states costs aproximately 76 cents, with the gas companies making a 200% profit that would make it about $1.52 a gallon, then with the gas tax imposed by the government of 18 cents a gallon (in texas anyways) that'd be $1.70.... yet I'm paying $2.30 more a gallon, and why? It doesnt really make since, oil companies gross profits increase by hundreds of billions of dollars a year, that is ridiculous....I honestly am glad there is an investigation by a government agency into this, its about time. Another thing is that diesel is a bi-product from refining gas, why is it $1 more a gallon when its the leftovers from making gasoline?

thats why there should be solar powered cars.

They have solar powered cars, water power cars, and pure air powered cars. (*listens to the radio way too much*...) You should really watch or listen to the news on the radio or read newspapers or magazines. Cause they keep making new models and have new ideas to waste less raw material. Not to mention to stay away from high levels of Ultraviolet light.

I guess the only thing I can say is look around for a car and try to make the best decision you can because gas prices will continue to go up and down for the remainder of our life.

Why our life sounds so miserable?

Why our life sounds so miserable?

Thats also true, thats why they need this war so they can go in and steal some oil/gas and come out alive with the soldiers distracting the others. (I think thats the Real plot here.)
Our lives?, our lives are always going to be miserable with people controlling our lives.
Not to mention all the negative emotions going around.
But I still say look for the car you want but keep possibilities in mind while you do.

Oddly enough over here in MA.. we've had gas climb to about 4.07 a gallon in some gas stations... then recently it went down to about 3.87 for some gas stations.. though some still charge about 4.01.. odd.. I dunno, it mostly has been on a steady incline as of late.. but oddly it jumped down a few cents.. don't know why.. but overall, it's really annoying.. and I wish I could pay 2 bucks a gallon again.. ;o

If so, that could lower how much you spend on gas.

water would just dilute the gas and make your car extremely weak, and more than likely you wouldnt be able to get the gas to ignite therefore no car movement. so no mixing water with gas=horrible idea( its also a good way to ruin your engine)
