Ten years after Cloud defaulted Sephiroth for the second time, an era of peace has filled the land of Midgar. With no more talk of the Geostigma or of the three that Cloud had to fight. Cloud went back to becoming a simple delivery boy, yet his mind could not shake the feeling that something much worse then Geostigma or Sephiroth was coming. One evening while Cloud, cid, Tifa, Yuffie, Barret, Red XIII, Cait Sith, and Vincent where all sitting around a camp fire talking and roosting marshmallows when Barret stopped what he was doing and throw a news paper on the ground in front of Cloud. “What’s this” Cloud asked as he looked at the news paper. “Read the head lings” Barret said. “Cloud read out loud the head lines “Search for the twelve missing children has been called a off after their bones where found in a dumpster” cloud said.
“That’s awful” Tifa said. “But…this news paper is ten years old” Cloud said. “That’s my point…while we were fighting Kadaj and his friends someone was taking some children with the Geostigma and killing them” Barret said. “Dose the paper say anything about who or what killed them” Yuffie asked. “No…but I do know something about them” Barret said. “What’s that” Cid asked. “That there were four of them. I’m not sure of the names but they did have nicknames after there first names and I do remember the organization they called them selves” Barret said.
“Can you fill us in on all you know Barret" Red XIII asked. “Ya…lets hear it…I want to ruff these Blokes up” Cait Sith said. “Ok…their nicknames are…the Reaper, the Gunman, the Snake Queen, and the Demon…and their organization was called the destructive four” Barret said. “What else can you tell us about them” Tifa asked. “Well…I know one more thing about there past. All of them are Ex- SOLDIERS” Barret said. Vincent jumped down from the rock that he was sitting on. “Looks like missed the party then” Vincent said. “Don’t jump the gun yet Vincent” Barret said “what do you mean” Vincent asked. “Read this” Barret said as he took out another news paper and handed it to Vincent. “D4 is planning to come back into action…saying that they want to spread geostigma” Vincent read “Spread geostigma…why” Cloud said.
“That was a letter to the news paper by one of the four. The new people felt it was a joke until a snake slithered out of the envelop it was sent in.” Barret said. “So why do they want to spread geostigma though” Tifa said. “To farm” Barret said. “That makes no sense…to farm it” Yuffie said. “Not the Stigma…that want to farm us…the humans with Geostigma…it is said that all four of them where fused with so much of the Stigma that they needed it to live,” Barret said. The eight decided to try and stop the four from spreading the awful disease. They wondered into a town called gold daggers town.
They asked around until they asked an old man if anyone knew about the four. He pointed to the direction of a bar called the devils backbone. He told them that the bar tender would know about them. He also gave then the name of the bar tender. “His name is Rex. He’s only been here about a month but he knows all there is to know about them…if you can’t find him there then got to the good luck orphanage. He owns that. You can find him there” the old man said.
