Okay, so...I have to do a senior project this year, and I chose it on writing. I have to come up with a product, and I decided to base a story off of one of my better ideas for an Rpg (I just never got it running.)
So, it's nowhere near done, and I kinda cut it off in the middle of a paragraph, but I'll updadte it was well as I can.
and I present to you....
Dawn of an Era
Prologue:
There was an odd silence in the air as the few men who were in the dark room stopped moving. There was a small murmur as something in the center of the room moved, an odd glowing portal swirling around and around. They had succeeded in creating the Gateway to the long lost Spirit Realm, the Land of Magic.
The portal was small, swirling in add directions as the stabilizer around it spun in the opposite direction. Occasional zaps of electricity swirled in the portal, another effect of the stabilizing unit.
“Alas…the peak of our technology has become its greatest.” One man, fairly large, spoke out with determination. “Through all of the time we have spent, all of the money, we have finally succeeded in creating the Portal!” He laughed, “With all that we have achieved, our new energy source has been found. We can use the power of magic…”
The others seemed a little frightened. This…new power had not been in the human world for thousands of years, perhaps longer. The old fossil fuels were already becoming obsolete, but…other sources of power had risen. None of them were perfect, but the world was content.
“Sir…I don’t think we need this new…source of power, not yet. The world crisis for energy has ended.” A second man finally spoke up to the first. “I don’t see any point in introducing something we haven’t even tested.”
The first man smirked, a dark look in his eye. “Do you, then, think that we should just give up our dream of achieving the ancient powers of magic?” There was a crazed gleam in his eyes, and he smiled, throwing his arms out, “This is the dawn of a new era! We will show the world the power of magic!”
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The world as we know it has reached its pinnacle of achievement. With new energy sources, fossil fuels have become obsolete, and instead, cleaner forms of energy are being used. New inventions, such has matter transportation units, to the invention of the hover car, have boosted the human world to a point in which everything is perfect.
Too perfect, in fact. The human world has forgotten the true meaning of hard work; they have become too lazy an arrogant. It will lead…to their downfall. Now, the world will experience a new change, the re-introduction of the ancient powers of Magic.

((double post >.<))
Part One: The Beginning of the End
Awaken…
Softly spoken words echoed through his mind. Darkness swirled around him, forcing him back…there was no escape. The darkness had him, yet something still called to him. The soft…spoken voice that pierced through the darkness like a shining beacon of hope.
Awaken, dear child.
Light pierced through the shadows, and his eyes flickered open to greet the sun. He was lying on his back, in a grassy field. The sun was at high noon, and he could have sworn it was dawn when he came out. The boy sat up, stretching lightly as the wind breezed by him, almost asking him to get up. He let out a loud yawn, stretching once again, and he quickly pushed himself up off the ground.
There was a moment’s unrest, in which he wobbled slightly from the blood rushing from his head, but he steadied himself, chuckling. He was alive…the darkness had missed him again. He ran his hand through his dark brown hair, letting the two bangs fall in front of his eyes like normal. His hair was fairly short, but spiked up just slightly in the front, making him look fairly cool, at least, in his eyes. He was wearing his summer clothes, a dark red tee-shirt, and blue jean-shorts, ones that were fairly dull. But, then again, he really didn’t care all that much. It was summer vacation, and the first week at that.
The boy sighed, sitting back down in the grassy field. He had just finished eleventh grade, his junior year in High School. This year, he was be a senior, the top of the school. But, he didn’t much care. Life was getting too complicated. He hated all of the responsibilities he was getting. He needed a job, a car, to take care of his parent’s pets, and everything. It was all unfair, he had never asked for any of it. Worse, he had to look for a college to attend. His entire summer was ruined because of it.
The teen sighed again, shaking his head. He knew his parents meant well, they just wanted him to get a head start in life. Yet…he felt that they were being a little too rough on him. They never seemed to actually be there when he needed them. His father was a government official, something to do with computers and national security, which meant he was always away from home. His mother was a tech specialist for a new-type aeronautics spacecraft. It was a very flashy title for saying she helped design the new space shuttles that would take people to the stars.
“Rey!”
The boy looked back, towards the person who yelled his name, “Yeah!?”
“It’s lunch time!” It was a girl, not much younger than the boy, Rey. “Are you going to come eat?” She ran up, already within normal speaking distance. It was Sunday afternoon, as Rey had just remembered, and he hadn’t eaten.
The girl, although not actually related to him, was like a sister to him. Her name was Sienna Rose, and she had wonderfully bright blonde hair at shoulder length, with black streaks running down them. But the most notable features were her eyes, which shone an odd silvery-blue color.
“Sienna…” Rey spoke softly, “You didn’t…have to make lunch, you know…” He stood up again, dusting himself off rather quickly. “I could have made it myself.” Rey was being shy, as usual. Even around the person he knew and trusted the most, he was still horrible at speaking. He was far from being a social butterfly, which Siena was incredibly good at. The girl happened to be one of the most popular kids in school. And…she hung around the quiet kid, Rey.
The teen could never figure out why Siena wanted to be around him. Very few people actually liked him, but…then again, no one ever talked to him. No one took the time, not like Siena, to actually get to know him.
“Rey, don’t be foolish.” The girl smiled, touching Rey’s arm lightly. “I don’t mind at all. You’re parents are never around anyway, so you should be thankful.”
Rey smiled back, nodding. “R-right…” He sighed, shaking his head. “Sorry…I guess I should be more…attentive.”
“Stop saying sorry! I’m tired of hearing it!” Sienna spoke sharply, which made the poor boy wince.
“Sorr-…yes, Siena…” Rey caught himself, and nodded. “Shall we go, then?”
Sienna was smiling again, and nodded. “Let’s go!” He grabbed Rey by the arm, and more or less dragged him towards the small group of houses a few hundred meters away from where Rey had been asleep.
Rey sniffed the air, and smiled. It was a warm fulfilling smell of chili, one of his favorite foods. He smiled at Sienna, “You made chili?”
The girl nodded politely, and led him into the house. It was Rey’s house, fairly large and eloquent. It was built to be one of the fanciest homes of the century, with the newest of technologies. Of course, Rey’s family was rich from all of the government positions and breakthroughs they had made.
“Eat up!” Sienna smiled, grabbing a bowel from the cabinet and filling it to the brim with the warm food.
“Wow, Sienna…you outdid yourself…” Rey smiled back, and took a spoonful of chili, eating it quickly. “You didn’t have to, you know.”
Rey had sat down at the small table in the kitchen, and Sienna had sat next to him. “I wanted to… I like making things for you.” She sounded a little different, almost quieter than her normal self.
Rey stopped mid gulp, and blinked at her. “Are you…alright?” He asked, setting his bowl down on the table.
She blushed lightly, “I-I’m fine.” She smiled again, “Would you like more?” She quickly got up, refilling his bowl.
“Y-you didn’t have to…” Rey started, getting up. Sienna turned around quickly, and the two stopped. They were both staring at each other’s eyes, frozen.
“Rey…” She said softly, “I…” The girl held the bowl out, blushing furiously.
“Thanks…” Rey spoke softly as well, taking the bowl from her. He was blushing as well. “I’ll just…”
“I should go home. My parents are probably waiting.” Sienna walked towards the door, and turned softly. “I’ll see you…tomorrow at school.”
Rey nodded, “Yeah…bye…”
Sienna walked out of the door, towards her house only a small distance away. She was about halfway home, with Rey’s house still in sight, far enough from anywhere that no one would hear her. The young girl turned, looking back to the house, and sighed softly.
“Rey…” There was a tear in her eye, “I love you, and goodnight.” The wind blew towards Rey, as if trying to carry her words towards the awaiting boy at the doorstep, staring out at Sienna.
“Sienna…” Rey spoke softly, watching her. “Goodnight…”
Awaken…
Rey opened his eyes, looking up into the eternal darkness around him. “Why?” He mouthed the words, but no sound came. “What…must I do?”
The world is changing…you must come. You are one of the few who can stop it… find me, before it is too late.
The boy awoke, yelling out. He sat up quickly in his bed, sweat pouring over his body. He closed his eyes, panting as he tried to remember the dream. It was a woman who was speaking to him. She had told him…to find her before it was too late. Something bad is going to happen… She’s trying to warn me.
It was only an hour before he was supposed to get up, and there wasn’t a chance of the boy going back to sleep, so he got up early. He quickly prepared his backpack for school, and cooked up a decent breakfast. And, being up early, he decided to walk over to Sienna’s house to greet her this morning, like she normally did to him.
Rey walked out of the door, his heavy workload on his back, and walked towards the girl’s house. About halfway to her house, he paused. A small chill went down his spine, and the wind suddenly stopped. Weird… He looked to his left, and blinked. There was a small cave leading into the ground, one that had not been there before.
“Where…did that come from?” Rey spoke to himself, asking a good question. Rey and Sienna had traveled the landscape around their houses several times, and never had they seen this cave before. He shook his head and looked back up to Sienna’s house. Another place to explore, later…
Rey was waiting for Sienna by the steps up to her house. When she came out, she paused, looking at Rey.
“Good morning!” Rey smiled happily, “How are you!?”
Sienna smiled at him, “I’m fine, I see you’ve decided to come here this morning.” She walked down the steps, stopping in front of Rey. “I take it you got up early?”
“Yeah…” Rey started to explain the dream, and stopped. “Er…never mind. It was just a weird dream.”
She smiled, “Well, maybe you can tell me some other time. Let’s go!” She led the way, towards the bus stop, in which they waited.
Only thirty minutes later, the two were sitting in class. They weren’t allowed to sit together, die to a complicated seating chart in which they were at exact opposite ends. Of course, the teacher ‘said’ it was random, but Rey knew otherwise. The teacher could tell…
School was boring, and Rey wasn’t paying the least bit of attention, and instead stared over towards Sienna. She was looking out the window, daydreaming about something. The sunlight from outside was touching her face; warming her skin…she looked radiant and beautiful.
Rey blushed, and looked back to the teacher, who was ranting on about some random math equation. Why…did I think that? Sienna is…my friend, nothing more. R-right? He stared down at his desk, thinking. Do…I really…like her like that?
Sienna continued to stare out of the window, her mind dreaming of things that she thought would never happen. Rey…she was in love with him, but would he ever realize that? Would he accept that she wanted to be with him? The girl let out a longing sigh, and closed her eyes. The world…was such a strange place. Why would Fate do such cruel things?
Rey and Sienna ate lunch in silence, sitting across from each other. The lunch room was loud, crowded, and rowdy, yet Sienna and Rey felt alone, isolated. Rey’s thoughts were of his confusion over Sienna, while Sienna’s thoughts were that of wishing for Rey’s heart.
The rest of the school day went on without anything special happening, and the two ended up back home, each standing at the mid-way point between the two houses. Rey set his bag down; looking for the cave he had seen that morning.
“I saw this new cave that formed, and I was wondering…” He started, and stopped as Sienna interrupted him.
“Yeah, I want to check it out…” She blushed, because she realized that she interrupted him. Sienna just wanted to be near Rey for awhile longer, just because she felt it might make a difference.
The two made their way towards the cave, which was fairly easy to find. Rey stood at the entrance, an odd feeling in his chest. Something important was in this cave; something that he felt could change him forever.
“Rey?” Sienna lightly touched his arm, “Are you okay? You seem pale.”
Rey’s gaze lingered into the dark cave for a moment longer, and he looked back to Sienna, “I’m fine. I’ll go first.” He was talking low, almost like they were doing something forbidden.
Sienna nodded, and watched as Rey skillfully went down into the cave. He disappeared into the darkness, and the girl held her breath.
“Its okay, come on!” Rey’s voice echoed up. Sienna let her breath loose, and started down the cave.
It was slightly damp, and the air was fairly humid. There was something strange, though, about her senses. They seemed to be tingling, almost as if something was in the air that she was breathing, feeling, and smelling.
Rey was already staring deeper into the cave, looking at a strange, glowing light. “I think…there’s something back there.” He started forward, and then hesitated. “Do you…want to check it out?” He looked back at Sienna.
Sienna walked to Rey, her heart pumping fast. She…was about to do something that could potentially ruin everything, yet she felt compelled to do so. “I’ve…wanted to do this for awhile, and I fear that if I don’t do it now, it will never happen.”
Rey opened his mouth to question her, when all of a sudden she leaned forward, and kissed him. Rey’s eyes widened in surprise, and he pulled back a little. Sienna blushed, and took a step back.
“I’m…sorry…” She said softly. “I shouldn’t have.”
Rey shook his head, “I think…you did the right thing…” He reached for her, his arms wrapping around her, and he kissed her back. It was Sienna’s turn to be surprised, but she didn’t pull back. The feeling for both of them was wonderful, and they both felt that it was meant to be…that they belonged together.
Rey finally pulled back, taking a deep breath. “I…that was…” He couldn’t find the words to say, and he actually laughed. “I never thought…”
Sienna’s face was full of bright happiness as she hugged him tight. “I knew it…” She nuzzled his chest, and looked up to him. “I’m glad…you feel the same.”
“Sienna…I…love you.” Rey kissed her quickly, “And I’m sorry for waiting so long.”
“I love you too…” She spoke softly, letting her weight fall into him.

((Triple post, OMG))
Rey looked back, “As touching as this moment is, I still want to check out that light.” Sienna let go of him, and nodded. “Let’s go then…” He grabbed her hand, and led her towards the light.
They were cautious, and made their way towards the blue light. Rey stopped as his foot touched against something other than rock. It was smooth, almost like glass. He looked down, only to find that this was a part of the blue glow. It was a crystal of some sort. The entire cave turned into a crystal path. This path lead up to a giant room, completely carved out of this strange, blue crystal, glowing brightly.
Sienna and Rey walked into the room, both staring in awe. It was beautiful, something they had never seen before at all. Rey was staring up at the crystal, when he stopped. Sienna stopped with him, and the two took a moment to take in this wonder.
When Rey finally looked down, he was staring at a crystal alter, one that was made from the same stone all around them. The altar was fairly large, and there were inscribed runes, in which neither Sienna nor Rey could translate.
“This…is weird…” Rey spoke, his voice echoing through the crystal caverns. He walked around the altar, staring at it. “It feels weird here, too…like we were meant to be here.” He looked up to Sienna, and smiled.
“It’s…wonderful, I’ve never seen anything like it!” The girl twirled around, laughing. “Amazing!” She ran over to Rey, “It’s wonderful…I’m glad you found it.” She wrapped her arms around him, and sighed.
Rey smiled, and closed his eyes. Something felt wrong though…and he felt as though something bad were to happen…
“Sienna…” The ground shuttered slightly, and his eyes shot open. “Run!” He pushed her towards the entrance; right at the cavern shook tremendously. A crack appeared beneath Rey, and opened up.
“Rey!? NO!” Sienna reached out, “NO!” She tried to grab his hand as he fell back into the dark crevice that had opened up.
“Sienna!” He was reaching for the sky, for the light that would save him from the eternal darkness. Sienna…I love you…goodbye…
Rey fell into the darkness, and then…he felt nothing.
Sienna… Rey was floating in the darkness again, his eyes shut tight. “I’m sorry…” He mumbled, opening his eyes. “I couldn’t be there…I wish I could see you again.” His body felt heavy, and he could barely move. His voice was rough and hoarse, as if it hadn’t been used in a long time. I’m done…I must be dead. Sienna…please…forgive me.

Part Two:
[I]Awaken…
Rey shook his head. His body felt heavy, and his breathing was ragged. He coughed, his mouth dry. He was vaguely aware of sharp pains in his arms, needles. He was more or less trying to figure out where he was.
His eyes flickered open. He was staring at the ceiling, one that looked old and ruined. “W-where am I?” He tried to speak, but not much came out. His throat hurt, and it was rough and dry.
“Oh…my god…” There was another voice in the room, it sounded like a young woman. “He’s awake!?”
Rey thought for a moment…that voice sounded familiar, but he couldn’t remember who it sounded like. He had never heard it before.
“Rey?” The woman leaned over him. She has stunning blonde hair that reached down to Rey’s face, and she had incredible silvery-blue eyes, in which he was captivated into staring at.
He instantly knew who she was. “Sienna?” Why did she look older? What had happened?
“My god…Rey, you’re awake…” She checked a few machines that were connected to him, and laughed, “You’re alive…” She quickly turned a few of them off, and turned to him. “You probably don’t know what’s happening. Let me get Wynn.” She ran out of the room, leaving Rey alone.
Rey groaned, setting up. His body felt weak, and it took every ounce of strength he had to get up. What happened here? And…where am I? A moment later, Sienna walked back in, leading another man to him. He looked to be about twenty-three, and was well built.
“Amazing…” He muttered, and walked over. “Truly amazing. I didn’t think he’d make it, honestly.” He looked over to Sienna, and smiled. “I’ll explain things as best as I can.”
He sat down in a chair that was close to Rey, and cleared his throat. “My name is Wynn, and I’m the leader of this underground base. It’s a shelter for people who lost their homes and lives in the Crash.”
“The Crash?” Rey’s voice was slowly returning. Sienna hurried over, bringing him a small cup of water. He gratefully drank it all, and coughed as his system got accustomed to swallowing again.
“The Crash…I guess I should explain. You’ve been in a coma…ever since the beginning of the Crash. You fell down a crevice, according to Sienna. When we finally got to you, you were out cold. The Crash…it had something to do with a new experiment by the government. Something…about re-awakening magic.”
“The Crash…and magic?” Rey thought for a moment, “I thought magic was a myth.”
“So did we…” Wynn ran his hand through his jet black hair, which was cut short and spiked up. He was definitely strong and powerful looking, as was his determination.
“How long…was I in a coma?” Rey asked, after a moment of thinking.
“You…were out for three years.” Sienna said softly. “And…I was scared.”
Rey closed his eyes. Three years had passed for him… all gone like that. One moment, he was worrying about school, the next…he was three years older and in a new world. “What’s…going on now?”
“The Crash…the government fell, people fell apart, and the world is in ruins. I’m not sure what’s happening anymore. All I know is that Magic was the key to our downfall.” Wynn stood up. “I have to go now, things need to be done. I’ll leave Sienna here with you.” He stood up, and walked over to Sienna.
Rey looked up, and saw of Sienna leaned over and kissed him, whispering a heartfelt goodbye and good luck. There was a pain in his chest, and he looked down. Three years…
Sienna walked over to him, and she blushed lightly. “I guess…I should tell you, after Wynn saved us…I fell in love with him. And…after two years, you never woke up…and I though you would never wake up. He finally asked me…and I said yes.” She chuckled, “And now you’re awake. Funny…no?”
Rey stared at the ground, “Three years…you’ve changed a lot.” He closed his eyes, trying to remember back to that day, when they had first kissed. “I guess…you had to.”
Sienna nodded softly, “I’m…sorry Rey, but maybe…we were never meant to be together.”
Rey turned his head away, and coughed as his muscles stretched. “Yeah…” His arm reached for the bedpost, and he tried to push himself up.
“R-Rey!? Don’t push yourself!” Sienna exclaimed.
“Don’t worry…” Rey groaned, managed to stagger to his feet. “You don’t need to worry about me.” Many emotions were running through his head, anger, fear, sadness, and…worst of all, regret. He felt regret…for ever falling in love with the girl across from him.
“Rey…” She could tell he was mad, that…he was hurt. “I’ll…leave you alone, then…there are clothes that should fit you…” She pointed to a small chest next to his bed. With that, she walked our of the room, pausing for a brief moment at the doorway.
“I never lost hope…that you would awaken. I simply...couldn’t live my life waiting. I’m…so sorry…” She left, a glimmer of tears falling from her face.
Rey growled, trying to keep his balance. His body was weak and frail, yet…he seemed to be recovering fairly quickly. It took him ages to get dressed, but he managed it alone. Within an hour, he was staggering down the hallway, looking around the strange building.
Someone walked up behind him, and spoke softly, “Hey…do you need help?”
Rey looked behind him, smirking, “Nah, I’m good…” His voice was pained, and he was panting.
“Sorry…but you look like you need a hand…” The man had dark red hair, and looked about as old as Rey did. “My name is Rezk…” He moved swiftly, getting under Rey’s arm, the one he was using to support himself against the wall.
“A-augh…” Rey growled as pain shot through his arm. “Thanks…” He muttered, “My name is Rey Altima…”
“I know who you are,” Rezk said softly, “You’re pretty well known around here. You were thought to never wake up. Everyone seems to think that this is a sign of good things.”
“Three…years.” Rey’s voice was low, “I…still can’t believe it.”
“I know…” Rezk had been leading him down the halls, and they finally ended up in a room full of weapons. There weren’t many guns, and the ones that were there looked to be in terrible shape. However, there were a couple of hundred edge weapons, such as swords, scythes, daggers, and many others.
Rezk walked over, grabbing a metal pole that was about his height, and handed it to Rey. “Here…so you can keep balance.”
Rey leaned into it, and smiled, “Thanks…” He shook his head, and sighed. “I’m sorry, but this is all new to me. I just…don’t know what to do now.”

I like it.. but Rey reminds me of someone familiar... but anyway.. I think that it might work... so keep it up...
Still you might work on moving the plot.. it feels weak and simple.... and is Sienna somehow a dark reflection of how you believe your relationship will end....
Please dont let it be that...

I didn't write much more, but...
------------
Rzek nodded grimly, “I had thought something like this would happen with you. In fact, it was expected. I want you to come with me, just for a moment…” He walked towards the doorway they came in from, and motioned to Rey.
The man used the metal pole for balance, and staggered towards the door, following Rzek towards the southern end of the complex. There was a door to the outside world there, and Rzek was already waiting for him.
“Ready?” He pushed the door open, and Rey shielded his eyes from the blinding light. What he saw, amazed him.
It was a new world…a changed world. The sky was a deep, dark red, with a lunar-colored sun in the sky. The earth beneath it was cast in an orange-red glow, almost like a magical field. There were all sorts of animals, types he had never seen before in his life.
“Impressive, no?” Rzek crosses his arms, using his back to prop the door open. “All came when the crash happened.” He shook his head, “Animus…they’re creatures from the Spirit Realm, supposedly.” He sighed, motioning for Rey to come back in.
Rey nodded slowly, struggling to get back in. Rzek helped him a little, and the two were back inside with the door locked tight. “You should…rest now. You’ll have a busy week getting better.”
Rey spent his next week working hard, training his body again, and becoming stronger every day to meet the needs that he required. Throughout this week, he never saw or spoke to neither Sienna nor Wynn, which was perfectly fine by him. Instead, he put all of his concentration into working his body back into shape.
Rzek helped him greatly during this time. The two became great friends, training together and working together on various things. In the end, Rzek and Rey ended up roommates in the Eastern part of the facility. That was where Rey was now, lying his bed, reading something.
The book was written shortly after the crash, on the use of magic. According to the book, magic was channeled through Spirits that chose the user. This Spirits, however, could only be found in the Spirit Realm, which was difficult to open. So far, there were only natural gates, plus the single man-made gate that was created before the crash. These natural gates were created when the first gate was opened, when the Animus of the Spirit Realm realized this world existed.
Rey closed the book, sighing. “I wonder…what will happen…” He sighed, standing up and stretching. His muscles were a little stiff, but he managed to keep them in working order the entire week without hurting himself. He was just about to grab his staff, when Rzek opened the door and walked in.
“Rey, I want you to come with me. Wynn found a natural gate, and he wants you to come with us.” Rzek looked serious, his eyes narrowed. “Wynn thinks that he might be able to find a Spirit, and the more people that come, the more chances there are that a Spirit will go to someone.”
Rey nodded, “Alright…I’ll go. When are we leaving?”
“You have one hour to get ready. Meet us at the South Gate.” Rzek turned and left the room.
Rey could tell Rzek was scared. He never acted this serious, so it had to be big. A natural gate…where was it? He had no clue where they were, still, in comparison to the old world.
The man sighed, picking up his staff, and walking out of the room. He went instantly to the armory, and pulled a fine looking sword out. It was one of the few weapons he knew how to use, so he thought it might be useful. Rey strapped it to his belt, and started towards the South Gate. He was far early, but maybe….
Maybe he’d get a chance to talk with Sienna.

The plot is working... you know it might be better if you added details of the week training... and maybe have some heart to heart between Rey and Rzek...
