Helix: The True Hero vs. Lone Wolf
Sephiroth vs. Cloud Strife
Stage - Midgar
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p207/KNIVORY/midgar.jpg
Midgar, a city of strife and daily turmoil, is the onset of today's battle. Pollution litters the skies and Shinra Troopers run disorganized in the streets, preying on those insane enough to take a stroll past dusk. The massive Shinra H.Q. looms ominous above the broken buildings, a gross symbol and reminder of human advancement in this corrupt world. This city, surely the epitome of all evil in the heart of humans, is perfect for a fight.

Cars in a cavalcade. Children at play.
Steam from the engines. The end of the Day.
The symphony of Midgar rang clearly in the ears of those who tuned in, reverberating and dissipating through every home, between every alleyway, down every flight of stairs.
Sephiroth heard it, too. He heard it more clearly than any other. It whispered to him, "...Welcome to my orchestra...," with a graceful resonance. It tickled his eardrums, and flowed through his hair, forcing it into a slow, solemn dance with the wind. It ruffled the feathers that had once lay flat on his wing. It was there.
It whispered something else, too.
"...Find him. Find him, and destroy him..."
He listened.

Golden waves rippled with the passage of the wind. It's glow diminished due to the lack of light and the overall dullness of the city. He had returned to Midgar on just a stray feeling. A feeling that might have leapt and destroyed him in his path. Only the wind dared to break the unhindered silence.
Cloud stepped onto the solemn streets. They were lonesome, perhaps foreshadowing the event to come. His blue eyes had retained their gaze and even then he had not lost his strength.
What his eyes failed to see, he definitely felt. The feeling that brought him here was ominous, and behind the shadows of the city lay the undeniable truth. Something lurked and observed, although he himself was very observant.
The end is nigh...

He didn't sigh, nor did he blink. Not the slightest sign of anxiety of nervousness met what could be classified as his soul. Instead he smiled, instilling eternal superiority and triumph in himself and everything around him.
Sephiroth held out his hand, as if to caress the hand of pure darkness itself, and took hold. Darkness of the most powerful magnitude filtered and flowed through his body, emanating through him and into the blanket of silence that was the Midgar air. His wing, reaching for a breath of wind, grasped a gust and lifted him.
He soared, scanning every inch of the barren, yet very alive, landscape that was the city. A massive shadow, conjured by Shinra H.Q. silhouetted him against the polluted atmosphere, further veiling him from unwanting eyes and curious onlookers.

"Why am I really here?"
His words diluted into the air, mingling with countless secrets only spoken to the wind. His heart almost ceased in the deprived environment. His soul felt like a heavy rock, weighing him down effortlessly. Only his hands seemed warm as if it had all come down to a struggle to grip onto life. He had no business in Midgar, and only his conscious felt meaning to this reunion. Cold as he was, his body had been beaten to the point where only emotions hurt. He carried the weight of his past, and the plans for his future, but why did his future carry him here.
Cloud's gaze turned to the sky, velvet from the corruption of the city. This was no place for life to flourish. The dark clouds almost taunted him, burning even more guilt to his barren soul. As the sky he observed, a flicker of movement put him on guard. Were his eyes finally betraying him?
His hand grew closer to the handle of the Buster Sword, as it carried all the meaning in his life.
"Sephiroth..."

He descended, loosening his grip on the cradle of wind that sustained him above Midgar. As he fell, the air continued its consistent stream of one-way conversation and dangerous persuasion.
"...Do you see...?"
"...There...there he...he is..."
"...You cannot deny...the inevitable..."
"...It will be over before it be-be-be...begins..."
Sephiroth saw him, Cloud, and at once the whispers turned to shouts, then screams. A nocturne of rampaging winds and words slammed against his ears, and blurred his eyes. His bind to the falling winds gave way, and he fell, plummeting to the very earth he had once tried to desecrate. These voices were more than simple persuasions...
They were him.

His latter thoughts blended into a single emotion. Stronger than hate, but it was much more than such a simple word. Something that swelled up inside him, controlling thoughts, and even movement. Ferocity?... No it was still deeper than that. An eternal bond of hate, only rivaled by the impulse to drive the buster sword through Sephiroth's body.
Cloud's eyes seemed to glow, and only then did he grab the unnaturally large weapon.
"Fallen angel... you have fallen even farther from shame."
Every muscle in his legs seemed to contract, before loosening themselves just as quickly. A jolt of powered surged through his body and thus began his wingless flight.
"Watch it Sephiroth... This meeting will be our last."

Sephiroth's wakeless fall was interrupted by the forward movement of a powerful kinetic force; A force that seemed to resonate with his deepest hatred and stir the anxiety of his most profound insanity. He opened his eyes, the blur that was his vision slowly filtering out any unnecessary objects and leaving but a single, tangible being in his sight.
Cloud.
As his eternal rival, one who had entangled himself with Sephiroth in a deadly dance of destiny nearly seven years ago, careened closer to the falling angel with movements so swift and precise, he retaliated. Not with action, but with thought.
"...C.-Cloud..." He whispered his soul into Cloud's, hoping to capture a hint of a response in the midst of his own screaming entity, "...Listen to me..."
"...I need...need...need to tell you...something..."

The suspense seemed to stop the time flow as air rippled through Cloud's loose clothing. He had flown right by Sephiroth without the merest hint of offensiveness. Cloud had felt Sephiroth's plea, but his heart was hardened and so all passiveness had been lost.
"You need to tell me something?..." Cloud was at a loss of words, even in all his ferocity.
"Have you still the shame to talk to me?"
Cloud was angry, and stubborn, but for some reason he still wanted to hear Sephiroth out. He held back his fury as long as he could, in response to Sephiroth.

There they were, suspended in the malevolent, ice-cold air, the ever-dimming rays of the sun casting crimson glints on the blades that had clashed so many times before. Cloud's voice broke through the barrage of screaming souls, a cornucopia of clearness and understanding. It sickened him.
He turned, facing Cloud with a mixed sense of finality and resolve.
"How does it feel...?" A whisper that echoed throughout an invisible eternity.
He drew his blade with a sharpness that surprised even him and, with god-like movements, whipped it around to meet with Cloud's neck. As he brought his blade down, the voices erupted once again, cheering him to finish the final chapter in the book of his spiteful life with his sword as the quill.
An end would be written...

A mistake, not unlike many others.
To trust in Sephiroth, was to throw your life away, and Cloud had enough of that. Gravity soon came into play and Cloud began to rocket down back to the earth that had seen him through all his battles. The same earth that would one day swallow his body and bury his soul forever. Today was not that day.
The buster blade left his back almost voluntarily. Like Cloud's soul had merged with the blade and both had the same intentions, kill Sephiroth. The width of the blade withstood the multiple assaults, and absorbed the last with little facility.
Cloud's first swing was wide, tearing through the sky, only stopping to return and repeat. The mako energy reacted well, for now.

One, two, three tolls did the clashing blades create as the onslaught began. With every strike, Sephiroth concluded, Cloud further tapped into the dangerous reservoir of Mako that pulsed through his veins. Sephiroth did not say it aloud, but he determined that the use of such a suicidal substance was unruly and ignorant. To depend so deeply on Mako was to ensure your own destruction, and Sephiroth could use this to an advantage, for he knew that every clash brought Cloud closer to his inevitable demise.
All the angel had to do was wait.
But in the meantime, why not have some fun? He dodged the last of Cloud's strikes and landed on a nearby cable, unaffected by the massive volts of energy that rippled through the wires and into the televisions of the unaware citizens of Midgar. Sephiroth held his sword high, a sort of welcoming invitation for another round with his rival.

Mako energy was distinct and indomitable for the most part and Cloud had not yet mastered it. His mental composure would have to resist the Mako poisoning for now. As Sephiroth escaped from the last of his attacks he changed his position to accelerate the fall. All tensions rose, and he struck. It had not been a direct assault on Sephiroth, but it was, indirectly. He snapped the electric cord with the buster blade and the uncovered cords sent a powerful volt into the buster blade. Before the electric power was isolated Cloud spun and his blade met with Sephiroth's in hopes that the powerful jolts would interrupt Sephiroth's nervous system.
"You and me are not alike..."
Invariably so. He despised Sephiroth, and his only objective was to destroy him. He could feel the mako energy surging through him.
"If I have to destroy myself to destroy an abomination, then I'll offer up this body." The mako seemed to jolt like electric currents through his body.

"Did I ever mention that we were?" he sneered, unaffected by the jolts that Cloud had attempted to damage him with, "Your denial is only a scapegoat of your true inhibitions. You know that we are the same..."
Sephiroth threw his blade to the sky, veiling it between the flurry of clouds that seemed to shape the atmosphere with an adornment of spite and death. He then summoned his deepest darkness, pulling it with his soul through his hands and arms. With the darkness as a temporary projectile, he began a distanced attack, launching the spheres of darkness like meteors in the emptiest reaches of space. He did not expect to stop Cloud with this tactic. he did, however, have something more planned.

Cloud had not intended on dodging the volleys. His own blade reared back, the sharpness almost carressing the ground. It began to a unmistakable glow and as it finally reached its final luminosity Cloud almost snickered. It came back with an even greater force and as he it did the glow disparced and set off like a beam. This was the blade beam.
The beam of light observed the volleys of darkness and kept on its trajectory. Indeed, Cloud had no idea what Sephiroth intended, but if its a game he wanted Cloud was willing to play.
"I cannot deny what is not true and this Sephiroth, this is not truth!"
He flared and followed the beam closely behind closely observing Sephiroth.

He ran, allowing Cloud the pitiful pleasure of a cat-and-mouse chase. As he reached the end of a cable, the likes of which connected to metal tower that pierced the sky, Sephiroth jumped, using the darkness to elevate himself toward the tangled maze of wires and rods that adorned themselves malevolently along the top, shaping a Christmas tree of man-made metal.
Visible bolts of electricity could be seen piercing across the wires and into the various poles. Converging, dissipating, lengthening. It was a deadly waltz of controlled power.
And the two were about to interrupt.
