Donald and Goofy: Help or Hassle?

Some of my friends at school were talking about Kingdom Hearts today, and one girl said Donald and Goofy annoy her and are a major drag when playing the game. I don't agree with her, but I wanted to see if anybody on here hates Donald and Goofy (game-play-wise). In my case, Donald cures me very often, and most of the enemies attack Goofy most of the time. Though, when trying to get special items by defeating Mushroom Heartless, they follow me and get in my line of vision, which is definitely not helpful. What do you think of the ol' D. and G. duo?

All in all, I like them. They were very helpful - especially Donald, with the curing. :)

Granted, I was more than willing to dump Goofy in favor of world-specific allies that I considered better (like Beast, for instance).

I am glad we'll be getting a break from them in the newest batch of games, though.

That's exactly what I did! (switching Goofy with the Disney allies) I also thought it was cool in Kingdom Hearts II when I got to have Riku in my Party. I was like "Finally, some original, non-Disney/non-FF allies!"

Haha, I did the complete opposite. I took Donald off my team instead 'cause Goofy's cool like that. *shrugs* I couldn't really care either way.

I switched out Donald in the early parts of the game, mostly because he didn't have Cure at that point but also because he kept dying on me a lot, whereas Goofy actually seemed to live for the most part.

After Donald learned Cure, though, he was a permanent side-kick I never sent away.

Donald is the one with Cure, and Goofy is the one with the cool attacks.

at the beginning of the game they are useless at best i use them for distractions on the heavier fights, and milk them till they die, and when swtiching with world specific part guys i switch to keep the usefullness of attack and magic. So i switch donald out for aerial, peter pan, and jack, and i switch goofy out for tarzan, aladin, and beast. However towards the end they are unstoppable cause their abilities benefit them and one another. However towards expert difficulty u cant depend on Donald to cure u. All in all id rather not have them, because i like the challenge, thats why i like the fights where i am alone.

When I switch out for the locals, I always take out Goofy because of Donald's heal.

i dont really care if they're in my party or not because i always ending up beating the heartless b4 they can and inflict a lot more damage than they can on bosses. i sometimes hope donald would heal me but most of the time i just use a potion or use my own cure, and i dont need goofy at all really so overall, i dont rely on them.

Donald wasn't helpful at all for me. He would only heal himself and Goofy, which bugged me big time. Totally ignored Sora, even when my HP was down to red. I dunno, maybe it was my settings for him? I never messed with them, though. But Goofy on the other hand was the best party member I had in the game. When it came to replacing one of them with a Disney character, there was no option, really. At one point, like at the beginning, Goofy was even better than my Sora. He did mental damage to the Heartless. But as the game progressed, I was able to defeat anything--even bosses--without the help of anyone else. It got to the point when I stopped curing and reviving them, instead, saving MP to cure Sora.

Donald is good because he always cures you when you really need it, and Goofy attacks while Donald saves you.

Well they were quite useful, but seeing as though I'm always like as magic as you can get and had more MP than HP lol, I didn't really need donald's cure, so I switched him out for locals instead of goofy cause I was the magic one.

Early in the game they are helpful but towards the end of the game they are annoying. When completing time trials in the coliseum, Donald uses stopga and I have to wait thirty seconds for it to wear off to end the round. Goofy is always helpful with MP gift, though. They both use too many items too when they get beat up and they don't avoid damage well.

I only gave Donald and Goofy items right before going into a tournament. It was my way of conserving Hi-Potions and Ethers. Outside of that, though, their abilities were enough. Goofy's MP Gift to Donald so he could keep curing was a good combination, methinks.

I have to day that donald and goofy are almost the best characters to have in your party at all times. I prefer goofy over donald any day but that is only b/c donald annoys more than any heartless boss when he dies, I mean what is with that voice. Anywho, all in all donald is just to slow with the spells and attacks, he also never seems to attack the most difficult monsters either. My choice in KH is my pal Goofy, I love his attacks from long range, to power hits, to just plan fun. Goofy is my personal hero, but either way, if either of my characters are killed in fights I just go crazy and annialate any enemys in the visinty just for knowing the killers.:maniac: :AH:

For me i never really used donald for some reason i saw him weak and useless so i would leave goofy and the other guy but donald comes in handy with cure and even if none like them both i feel that it just wouldnt be the same without them XD but buuut it was nice having riku in the team we owned ass in the castle XD i hope we use kairi in the next

I think they were really helpful, well goofy was. Donald died alot but he healed me when i needed it so i cant complain. lol

They helped but they were a bit annoying sometimes... Like Donald always cured me at the right times and Goofy+Sora Limits are awesome in KH2. But like during gameplay to just hear them screaming and seeing them constantly dying was annoying.

i found that in the boss battles they were very useful as donald heals you and goofy can take a beating as a distraction but in other fights thay just got in the way and hit the enemys away from me

Quite frankly, Kingdom Hearts wouldn't be much without them.

They are very helpful and just make Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts. :)

Big help... Donald is there for curing and Goofy lures some opponents to himself.

They were helpful at times... I say Goofy was more helpful especially when he has that ability in Kingdom Hearts MP Gift. That help out a lot.

at lower levels they were more of a problem but for me when they get above level 50 the are the best to have, i never use the world allies like beast or peter pan, i just steal their items and equipment, but when donald and goofy both learned lucky strike and jackpot,(sora had already learned those at early levels) i loved them cause i got the ultimate keyblade the same day i got those abilities.

That usually happens when people don't lvl up enough and don't add equipment to their party members(D&G).

In KHI, both of them were helpful, wasting me potions even when editing the use rate of them lol.

In KH2, they weren't that great, more on this areas:

Donald- Saving me

Goofy- His specials (loved how much damage you can cause with those)

In what way could donald and goofy be a hassel. they do not hurt you slow you down and even if they die it has the sane effect as if you were to not have them at all

as far as i was concerned, there is no point to worry about them since they usually rush off and die before you can really do anything, the only way they were actually useful to me is when i locked on and made them focus on the target so i could run around and avoid getting into the battle until the enemy (usually a boss) was significantly weaker then if i had rushed in head first.

I guess it depends on where you are at in the game. Sometimes you don't want help because you are close to Ansem and you battle him on your own for a little bit

I only really used Donald because he healed me, but i never really used any of Goofy or Donald's limit breaks so i just switched out Goofy other character in the world i was in

Donald was really helpful to me when I was in Proud Mode. Since the enemies always did so much damage, I equipped everyone with potions until I learned Cure. I sometimes use their limits, but mostly just in the tournaments at the Coliseum. I used to keep Goofy in for Valor Form though:)

Donald heals me when I need it, and if we are talking about KH1 then all you have to do is select a target and press the up arrow or the triangle button once for one of them to attack the target or twice for both of them to attack the target, and on the puase menu when you go to control configuration and you can set how Donald and Goofy act in battle.

Yeah I use donald becasue he heals aswell, and also he was my favourite charecter in Mickey when I was little :)

im really not sure, but they cure me and help me out with the fighting so i cant be all mad at them. they may get in the way sometimes but they still are good to have around

personally, i think donald and goofy are more of a help than a hassle, donald helps me with the curing spell and goofy helps a lot too, he helps me defeat every enemy... (well, it's all about you customizing the two's behaviors into helpful allies)

LOL exactly! Better than nothing!
The only thing that can get a little annoying though, is the consumption of items at the wrong time. e__e But it's your item choice and you learn about how often they consume things, etc.

You can adjust how often your party members use their magic and items so that's not really a problem. This game would be pretty hard if there were no party members, perhaps it wont be in normal mode but it will be in hard mode.

Honestly, Goofy wasn't the most helpful character in the game. He was always the one I switched out.

Now Donald though hehe. Set him to cast Cure, Demi and stop at all times and let him go to town. Saved my life so many times I cannot remember.

Sometimes they were a real hassle. Donald's "waahh" and Goofy's "a hyuck" aren't the most wonderful sounds in the world. I'd have to say that Donald was the most helpful. He healed me so many times when I was about to die. ^_^ Goofy on the other hand uses all the items I give him on himself or Donald when they don't even need it. Yes, I set them to use items only in emergencies. Apparently Goofy doesn't know what an emergency is.

I would usually take Goofy out just because Donald's cure helps when I need it. Other times I would just leave the two in case I found Trinity marks.
