"The World", an MMORPG published and maintained by the CyberConnect Corporation, known as the CC Corporation. Players interact with The World using Virtual reality headsets called FMDs (Face-mounted display) and controllers. It is the creation of German programmer Harald Hoerwick, who creates the first version, "Fragment", to help create his virtual daughter, Aura.
The World is comprised of a cluster of different servers distributed around the world. When players log in, they materialize in the Root Town of the server they last used. Root Towns are central areas in the game where players can socialize, create parties, and do business with other players and NPCs. Each server in The World has its own unique Root Town. They are the starting and ending point of any gaming session. In order to properly log out of the game, the player must be in a Root Town. Each Root Town has a Chaos Gate, a large revolving ring used to transport players to areas or other servers. To transport to an Area, a series of three keywords must be entered. These keywords determine such parameters as difficulty, terrain, and weather amongst other things. Most keyword combinations result in an Area with a field and a dungeon.
The world has been attacked more then once by players who just want to PK other players, players who spread viruses because they think its fun or viruses that have found their way into the game. CC Corp has always found ways to destroy the threats to the world but nothing like what happened in the world when project G.U. destroyed a virus that would create a network crisis. Months after a new virus emerged. Most of the CC Corps executives thought nothing of it until the virus started to create alternate demotions in the word that would produce monsters that could PK normal players and trap their soul inside the game. A selected few players where given an alternate Data code that let them produce Avatars that could fight off the virus. One of the executives was one of the selected few so he entered the world to find these players and ask for their help. They wanted to keep this a secret from other players so they called the project VF witch was short for virtual fighters. CC Corp hopes that these players will help them because if they don’t the world and the real world could be in danger.

Bio: Seth never really liked video games he was more of the sports kind of guy but when his friend showed him the Game “The World” he was suddenly hooked on the game. Everything felt real…it was like he could do anything in “The World” he can’t remember the last time he logged off but that really didn’t matter to him.
