View Full Version : The Case of Fifty Winters

Cloud Strife

So now, here we were, at our first case, standing over the evidence, trying to figure out what had happened. It hit some of us that if the police had no clue what was going on, how could we be any help at all to the situation. It was sort of a wild goose hunt, but we were friends and didn't want to let each other down. It was a big case for our small group, but we all had our reasons for staying. The first cases would be enough to tie us together forever, and it would take the world we pegged as small and closed off, as something that was terrifying and huge. It was hard to imagine that with everything we had uncovered in that first case we had the guts to keep going. So now, as the story comes to its beginning we sit, at our first meeting, the meeting that would decide our fate in the years to come.

---RULES---

1. No godmodding. I will kill you. >=O
2. This thread will be kempt by Sora, Wzrdto25 and myself, so listen to what we say, please.
3. No heavy cursing (( This is a forum relating to all ages. Light cursing is fine, such as 'Damn', or 'Crap'. ))
4. No double-posting. Unless somehow, your post is so impossibly long, it cannot be contained within one page.
5. Please limit yourself to one character: yourself. This is a roleplay based around a fictional story around our real lives, therefore do not make any fictional characters. If you do not wish to roleplay as yourself, please do not participate. ((Yeah, we're trying something different. ))

It was approved by myself, yes.
Take in count, people, the actual plot of this RPG will be unveiled as it goes through. It is FULLY planned, so do not think it is something unorganized. ;) Trust me, you will like it.

Anyway, here is my character sheet:

Username: Sora
Name: Bradley Lucas Fernandez
Age: 18 (Not really, but hey, I JUST turned 19, I wanna be 18 for a bit longer, you know?)
Birthday: 12/22/90
Gender: Male

(Sorry, could not find a smaller one at hand at the moment.)
Description: About 6'4''.
Personality: Just after turning into creeperish years of age, Bradley has not changed much at all. Outgoing, cheerful, determined, always willing to help the ones in need and do what needs to be done. If there is something that NEEDS to be done, leaving all the hard, rough way to achieve it, he will risk things to get it done. He tries to keep his issues to himself and instead lend a helping hand to the ones around him who are in need of it, but he enjoys of doing this, makes him feel human. Loyal, all the way through. Spends most of his time either playing guitar or bass, hanging out with his friends, playing any kind of sport and simply enjoying life. Might not be too bright at some things, but he is very wise when he has to be, even if he can slack and procrastinate when it comes to things like homework, and such.
Item ((Something that is significant to you that you own, or something you take with you everywhere)): I was going to put guitar here, but seeing as Damon already did, a simple sketchbook with a black pencil. I like to draw, a lot.

Um. Peter be a little bit more descriptive. and Venfan and Tidus Dude be a little bit more original they look like copies of someone elses *cough*

I say this because we already have a storyline and know the peoples personalities quite well. You are outsiders and therefore copying other people is not easy to put you into the story.

Sigh. Really, guys. Just ignore the descriptions and role-play like if you are being yourself. This RPG has been planned really determinedly and I promise you, it is good, and it WILL get good as we role-play along. You just have to be patient, and really, just leave the character personality descriptions aside, they do not really matter that much, because what is sensed by people is the karma you deliver WHEN role-playing, not through a little description on your first post. :P

RXS

And we mean, we have the PLOT itself planned out, it is not like you will have to follow an exact chronological amount of actions, no, no. We will just go role-playing along, and the truth behind this RPG will eventually be unfolded.

STARTING:

So here we were in the club's hideout at school, we had the evidence from the first time we went to the crime scene but none of it added up. The window behind the accountant had been smashed open to the ground below, where no blood was to be found, meaning the murderer couldn't have escaped from there right? I was beginning to wonder the validity of a 7 story drop without any harm. The real soar thumb was the glass trail, which had been leading back to the docks, where the murderer could have been from. We had after all, found a hook near the murder place, meaning someone at the docks could tell us who was out to get him.
The real thing that bothered me was the empty desk, the man was an accountant and should have had tons of reports with bank account numbers and cash flows. But all the same it still appeared to be a random murder. Why didn't the murderer just use a regular weapon, the body had been sucked dry, of blood that is. The only thing that worried me was I was beginning to think like a little kid. Surely if I mentioned the word Vampire to my friends they'd only laugh and pass it off as my imagination, but if it was a vampire, wouldn't it have taken the blood, not just left it covering every surface in the room. Even the footprints didn't work, they were a size 9 shoe exactly and had a strange circular design on the bottom, which pointed to boots. Maybe the murderer was a boater. The facts just didn't add up. The only proof we had was the hook, which had been covered in blood and matched the marks the police had told us about.
We hadn't been able to actually see the body, but from the way the police described it, there were giant scratches all down his face and neck, the rest of his body remained untouched. No bruises or anything. This case didn't make sense. But the docks seemed like a good place to start if anything. Someone close to the water had to know something about a hook wielding, 9 size boot, superhuman, murderer with a thrill for money. So that was when I digressed to my friends and finally let all my suspicions out. They didn't look at me weird when I said Vampire, they had noticed too, that the blood had been smeared in a weird way and that the fall seemed impossible to survive. It was time to solve this unreal crime the police had dismissed as unsolvable.

"God, I can't believe that teacher held me for so long..." I ran up the stairwell where the hideout was as I was looking through my bag for my envelope of photos.

"Ok! I am here, finally..." I began to look through the photos like cards to make sure they were all there, slowly approaching the gang around a desk with evidence laid out. I slapped the photos down on the table, "I went and got some photos of the scenes, I think it would be better to have indirect visuals rather than imagining it in our head. I was eating some melted chocolate so...if you see anything that looks suspicious, calm down...it's chocolate."

SexySasukelover

"Wonderful evidence .. And thanks for not bringing us any chocolate" I joked taking a look at the pictures pasted onto the desk.
"So..This is the work of .. What exactly?" I questioned.
"Gah it's like trying to play the guessing game only worse" I said getting frustrated as I let others examine the photos.

I looked up as Cori joined us in the hangout, but remained in my seat. I regarded her with a small smile, pushed my glasses up my nose, and turned my eyes back to my MacBook. I was, as usual, procrastinating: reading webcomics. I chuckled quietly as I read the final panel, then turned my attention to Cori.

"What you got?" I asked, my head cocked to the side. I stood up slightly, holding onto my laptop, and peered at the photographs that lay on the table.

I moved in, pushing Willie and Brad out of my way a bit. "You see..." I looked through the photos, trying to find a certain two, to explain, "Ah, uh, these two, well it's obvious they are the same. I actually took this photo of the dock, before the murder. I tried my hardest to take it the same as the twin photo. Perhaps, we can see something peculiar, in difference. There are several others with twins."

Will shrugged. "I don't think our murderer was standing with a smile on his face at the scene of the runaway Cori." Will contemplated the findings. Coris photography classes had taught her a keen eye for finding stuff, Will turned to her, glancing over her shoulder to look at the picture.
"Well!" he screamed. "What'd you find!"

As I took a glance around the room, looking at all of these faces, I couldn't help but grow a smile on my smooth, dark face. It was almost funny-- mere students acting as junior detectives or something. It was unbelievable. It was definitely not where I'd see myself at age fourteen-- with a bunch of teenagers I didn't even know that much solving a grim murder case such as this one. It was funny... yet scary. I wanted to look at the brighter side of things, but in this case, there was no bright side. Joking around was an option, but it certainly wouldn't make the murder any less disturbing. It'd only get everyone's minds off of the case, if only for a moment. Finally, focusing back on the task at hand, I directed my vision down at the photographs placed on the table by the girl named 'Cori.'

Sora
12-23-2008, 11:56 PM
I incorporated myself into the situation, as Cori finished her sentences. They had, somehow, sparked a kind of interest deep within me, for no apparent reason. And so I bent slightly, piercing both twin pictures with my eyes. Yes, they were similar. Cori had done quite a good job at trying to mimic both angles, I had to admit that.
I looked. The sky was the same, except for the different tones of light, since one photo had been taken before it all happened, and the other one quite a bit later. The setting, of course, was technically the same, or at least very close. It was then when something caught my attention;
"Hey, look at this, on the background," I hovered my index finger over the the photo that had been obviously taken afterwards. It stopped right next to the dock, near the shore. I spotted a boat, that had seemed invisible to my eyes before that moment. It might have not meant much, but hey, it was a difference, wasn't it?
"This wasn't here before, right? It's not in the first picture."

Wzrdto25
12-23-2008, 11:58 PM
"Boats move though Brad" I contradicted. It wasn't enough to build a mountain on an ant hill. I looked deeper. "It does look suspicious. How would we figure out who it belongs to?"
I scratched my head and looked over at my friends. "Fine I guess we could just go and investigate, we'll need to be sneaky, it's almost dark. And if there's a murderer on the lose we have to be super careful."

VenFan
12-24-2008, 12:01 AM
My attention was instantly directed to the bulky blond boy with the Spanish-reminiscent accent. I think his name was 'Bob' or something... No, Brad. That's it-- Brad. Upon hearing his comment about the two seemingly identical photos, my natural instincts were to become suspicious. My eyes shifted from the teenager to the photos once more, taking a look at the pictures he'd been talking about. I lifted myself up from my chair a bit to get a better view. My short stature disallowed me from seeing most of the photos on the table without lifting myself up to see them. He was right-- Both photos were different.

"Well," I started, "both photos were taken at the same time at the same place, right?" I asked. "How come the photos are different? Wouldn't Cori have noticed the difference when the pictures were taken?" Heeding Will's words, I nodded my head. Investigating did seem like the best idea at that time.

"Well looks like we'll be up for sometime on this one.." I sighed shaking my head in disappointment. "And to think I was looking forward to some alone time with Cori tonight" I said looking over at her. "Whoever did this has ruined my plans and I am devoting all my time to finding them and making sure they paid what is owed" I said mumbling in a low tone.

K H P
12-24-2008, 12:03 AM
"Wait!" I shot my hand up to my mouth in shock. I slowly lifted a photo up to look at it as everyone looked at me confused and impatient of what the matter was. "This...this is..." I let the photo fall from my hand and looked at everyone, "Just kidding, let's go investigate!"

Sora
12-24-2008, 12:07 AM
I looked at the dark skinned boy who had asked a question out loud.
"No, Cori took one picture and the other one was taken later... or vice-versa, I have no idea. By the way," I continued, and this time the tone of my voice described an ashamed pitch, "Your name, might be?"
I tried to sound as less rude as I managed, as everyone lifted their bodies from the chairs to get into action. It was a boat, after all. But maybe the owner had been there all along while the murder was being committed, and he had witnessed it from outside. He could provide us with some answers, most likely. Now, we actually had to FIND the owner...

VenFan
12-24-2008, 12:10 AM
A deep sigh escaped my lips. My heart skipped about two beats after witnessing Cori's playful behavior. A small chuckle soon followed as I clutched onto my beating chest. I lifted my body up from the small chair, taking one last glance at the photos before we were off to investigate.

Slowly reaching into my left pocket, I grabbed onto my smooth, sleek Sony Ericsson cell phone. It seemed that it had been getting late. Of course, I could have easily deducted that, judging by how the sky seemed to be getting darker outside.

Going out to the dock at night where we could possibly find the murderer-- That doesn't seem like a bad idea at all.

"So.. Basically.. You think he could have possibly witnessed?"
"But why wouldn't he have notified the police.. Then again maybe he has his reasons if so.. Maybe if the murderer had found out he witnessed he'd most likely come after him next ya?" I said filling my mind with unanswered questions as I looked over at Brad.

OOC; VENFAN, YOU AVOIDED MY QUESTION. ): lol.

I raised my eyebrows, listening to Krystal's words and processing them through my brain a bit too fast.
"Well," I began,"What if the owner of the boat hid after that? He would not have been that stupid like, to show up in front of the murderer, right?" I looked at her, formulating more and more questions inside my head. But I came to a conclusion, and I spoke it out loud;
"I guess we will not find out unless we go take a look, guys. Let's get going."

I nodded, a big smirk crowding the composure of my lips. I headed towards the exit of our hangout. It was always handy, to count with somewhere to discuss and relax at school when there was not much going on at the hallways. We, sometimes, even secretly infiltrated the school at late night, when the cleaning service people were already gone. We had our ways, our secret entrances. And, we loved every single one of them, since in the end it would lead to a good time, it usually had, either exciting or intriguing.
And so, we made our way out, to find that man -- or woman, the person that maybe, perhaps, had witnessed the mystery we were willing to uncover.

((Sorry, my computer is dumb as hell. lmao!))

I slowly slid my cell phone back into my pockets. At that moment, I felt an itching sensation on my right arm. It was really weird. At that time, I didn't know what was wrong with me, but right now, if I had to guess, I'd say it was the fear that struck into my soul. We were going to the docks, and at night, might I add. At that moment, all I thought about was walking right into the murderer's trap. I was thinking of my last moments alive. I was, after a long time of telling myself everything would be okay, actually kinda scared...

I finally turned to the tall boy in front of me. The fear I'd been feeling at that time disallowed me to respond to his question, but finally, I mustered up the courage to answer.

"Just... call me Alex." I gave a faint chuckle. Slowly, I followed the rest of the crew to the exit and to the docks. I attempted to let on that I didn't care about death, but something told me that everybody knew just how scared I truly was...

I quickly slid my laptop into my backpack, and hurriedly put it on. I stood at the back of the talkative group; slid one hand into my hoodie's pocket, and flipped the hood up with the other. I pushed up front and stood beside Bradley and linked arms with him.
"We're off to see the crime scene, the wonderful crime scene of death!" I sung loudly, and hummed the tune. I stomped my shoes on the ground, attempting to tapdance. I grinned cheesily as my best friend stared at me, somewhat shocked at the quirky outburst.

"Ah, gotcha, bro," I nodded in approbation at the boy named Alex. I made a funny face, he seemed somewhat uneasy about our exit to find the docks. Simply turning my head at Jess, I grinned playfully, ruffling her brown hair with my big hand. She giggled, as she kept on swaying along with her feet tapdancing through the corridors.
Next thing I did, was look inside the pocket of my jeans, in search for my crappy, 2004-aged Nokia 3200. I dialed Mallory's number, she of course, would of loved to be involved. After the phone rang twice, she picked up.
"Hello?" exclaimed her usually cheerful voice.
"Mal?"
"Brad, yeah! What's up?"
"Meet you at the school entrance with the gang, time for some reckon. We'll get into details later."
"You got it, on my way," and with that, she hung up, leaving me with a smirk on my face as I kept my pace through the hallways. We, were not people of, "Huh?", "Why?", "What?". Our intentions were clear, we knew, "reckon" meant business. "Business" meant solving. And when someone simply delivered, "Time for some reckon", everyone pertaining to our crew knew exactly what it meant. And, of course, we loved it.

I looked behind listening to Jess, I laughed and shook my head turning straight ahead again. For some reason I had butterflies, I looked across walking beside Willie and Krys, I smiled to myself. It hit me, what we would do if we ran into the murderer, at that dock. We all seemed so careless to the fact of what we were getting ourselves into. "I guess I shouldn't be scared though," I said out loud by accident, Willie looked at me but I shook my head for him to disregard, I guess I shouldn't be scared though, since I am with my friends.

Will was worried himself was he crossed the street. He knew he shouldn't show the worry but when Cori looked at him he let it out, by pure accident. "Let's just get it over with, the quicker the better." He could feel the night air getting creepier and creepier. So he was in the front of the group. If the murderer killed anyone, it'd be him. But protecting his friends was good right? Yeah sure.

I slowly placed my hands in my pockets as my right foot finally found the exit to the meeting room. It seemed that everyone else was prepared to go to the docks. I was just at the point of peeing my pants. I didn't want to die... Not yet. So many thoughts ran through my head, like why the murderer would kill that person, who the murderer was, and why he'd want to kill a bunch of teenagers if he met up with us at the docks. But one specific question rang in my head the most at that time...

How I'd die if he managed to catch up to me.

A beat of sweat ran down from my forehead to my chin. This was, in fact, the most frightening moment of my life... Even more frightening than telling my parents about my sixth detention...

I fliched when Krys grabbed on so suddenly, I was a bit paranoid, with being in such an eerie place at such a time. I looked around, it was useless, I had bad eyesight in the day, it was no better in the night. I sighed and just made sure to not scream at something so small. "AHHHHHH!" I screamed, Krys looked at me startled, "Oh...grass rubbed against my ankle...sorry...creeped me out."

My mind was racing but I kept my cool. I could feel the anxiety of the group hum around us all, and we all could: it was in our breathing and our tone and our walk. I tried to put it at the back of my mind, and I hummed the Scooby Doo theme tune as we walked. I laughed at my own stupidity, and pushed my glasses up my nose. I let go of Bradley, and moved myself to the back of the group.
"This is serious business," I muttered under my breath; attempting complete sincerity. Of course, after realizing how pwnsome I was for saying such a thing, I burst into a fit of silent laughter. The laughter quickly became filled with paranoia, and I laughed nervously. I was completely skeptical of where we were going, but at the same time it was struck with terror.

I had left my group behind at the school entrance, explaining I would catch up with them after Mallory's arrival. When I saw her arrive, eager to discover what was up this time, I let out a small sigh of relief, closed my eyes for a second, and grinned, making my way up to her, wrapping my arms playfully around her and giving her a hug, as I normally did to greet my girl friends.
"We need to get to the docks, the rest of the guys are in there, we're trying to discover what went on the other night, the murder at the docks, you heard on the news, right? I'll explain while we're on our way," I finished as I walked up to the Honda, waiting for Mal's approval to get in.

I glanced over at the blond boy, Brad, as he made his way over to the vehicle. As I looked closer onward, I noticed that an adult female had been in the driver's seat. At that moment, I thought that it was probably his girlfriend possibly willing to give him a ride to the docks as the rest of the group traveled by foot. She looked young-- around sixteen or seventeen years of age.

Lucky... If he's in a car, he has less of a chance of being killed off. It's much easier to kill a walking target than a driving one...

Thinking back on it, it was silly. Since the moment we left the school, the only thing I'd been worried about was getting killed by the murderer if he ever found his way to us. But we were only looking for the owner. At this point, the docks weren't too far away...

The time was drawing closer...

I unlocked the passenger door and patiently waited for Brad to sit in the chair and strap himself in. I backed out and headed to the docks. We sat in silence for a moment before I spoke up curiously, "So, have ya'll found any interesting evidence yet? I heard on the news about the murder but I wasn't paying much attention so I dont know exactly what happened. I'm guessing it's something to do with the docks?" I smiled jokingly, glancing at him before turning my eyes back to the road.

The older man shrugged at the younger fellow, and walked off. The youth's head drooped, then took a seat on the closest bench he could find. He liked it. It had a clear, solemn view of the ocean from right up close, a few feet away from the docks.

He pulled from his back the black pack that contained his guitar, Isis. Removing Isis from the bag and placing the bag at his side, he laid it sideways over his leg, which was bouncing up and down from his boredom.

He allowed himself to take in the view he was being graced with, and in turn, allowed his fingers to glide across the guitar, causing it to roar out in beauty, followed by his voice in a similar manner.

"I feel your smooth skin slightly but, I need your song, your song, started over..." his voice was swallowed by the cars passing by, but he didn't care. The only person he was singing to was himself, and he could hear himself just fine. He hoped no one was listening anyway.

Matt danced his way down the sidewalk, shivering at random intervals- which threw off his tempo several times. He was wearing absolutely nothing other than the black speedo displayed about his loins. His red Ibanez was slung across his back, upside down and on top of that was a small, black sack that carried his pants, shirt, and an indiscreet black hat.
As he passed the school he noticed the small group that had formed and did three backflips in their direction-which is a terribly difficult task to accomplish with a guitar strapped to your back in a fashion similar to Johnny Cash. (Get what I'm saying? O-o)
"Uh....hey guys. Any news?" Matt asked after he had approached them.

Kairey sighed while jotting down several lines in her poem book as she walked down the street. Yet with each line written came a sense of frustration. She was making an attempt to write down something related to the outdoors, and now it was about a white rose that captured her attention previous moments ago. Biting her lip, she thought hard and rummaged through various words in her mind she could jot down to finish this puzzle.

Delicate? Nah, too cliche. Precious? Too...blah. Hmm...

"Elegant!" She said aloud, scribbling down the word and finishing the sentence. She finally looked up from her book when she accidently bumped into a pole she didn't remember being aware of, and drew her hand to her forehead rubbing it with a twisted expression set on her face. She glanced around and noticed some of the others were there, and squinted her eyes as Matt did backflips randomly. "Having...fun?" She questioned with a slight laugh and closing her book shut.

I finally interjected, bringing myself into the small conversation. I placed my left foot forward a bit, and the rest of my body followed soon after. I looked at the young Latina, Kairey, prepared to answer her question. She looked around my age-- Maybe a little older.

"We're off to investigate," I responded, giving an answer to the young girl's question. "Back in the meeting room, Cori took some pictures, and we came to some conclusions that the leads didn't add up. She went over to the docks to investigate and took some more pictures while there, but they're slightly different... Really weird, if you ask me... And so, here we are-- Off to investigate the docks."

At this time, I was still kinda scared, but I felt... safer, if only slightly.

I was troubled about this murder. Many guesses and without logical ending popped up in my head. This made my way to hideout slower. Hmm... if it is something supernatural, then that's going to be hard to solve. If that's some man or woman in costume, trying to hide himself or herself... Maybe a huge dog??? Finally I entered hideout.
"Hi." I said, "So, any guesses?"
