what is your favorite book or book series?

i used to read lots of Dragon Lance books, and im a fan of the series still, but i have lost track of the story and i havent read anything since last year. i originally started reading it when i found the second book on the War of Souls series in the high school library, but they didnt have the second or third books.

I also like the Lord of the Rings series, my favorite book is The Silmarilion (i dont remember exactly how to spell it). it basically explains the world of Middle Earth and how it all begins, like where Sauron comes from. its a pretty good book, a little confusing becuase its like a narration of the events leading to the Return of the King.

any one else like any of those? any others?

Definitely the Twilight Saga. If I had to choose just 1, it would be either Eclipse or Breaking Dawn.

My Favorite book as a kid was a actually a schoolastic version of Metal Gear Solid lol. It's actually reviewed quite highly but it's ironic that he gathers so much weapons but doesn't even use them once lol.

My favorite books huh?

Hmm The Scarlet Letter by Conan o Doyle (yep Sherlock Holmes folks)
In my opinion better than the sequel The Big Four in my opinion though it isn't as famous.

Dune by Frank Herbert ( The winner of the first Hugo award xD and probably best book in the saga) I hated though God Emperor of dune but the third book takes the cake for Herbert being too full of himself tbh. I hated his characters logic in that one.

Watchmen by Alan Moore (recent addition to the list and i love it; so sue me :p)

Animal House by George Orwell (tbh, i don't see this book as a reason a utopia cannot be achieve by us but rather what went wrong during the russian revolution.)

Don Quixote by Cervantes (a Great Spanish Novel though i have actually never finished the second half of it. Well i think it's actually two novels but i just never finished reading the second novel then in the collected book i have. Still it's a favorite despite being a incomplete read for me)

Playing in Traffic by author idk. It's a great teen read if you're at that age with Sky being a seductive tramp and just plain disturbed. Still, a kwl read.

Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking glass. What can i say, i'm a big fan of the series. I wonder if Chrono Mizaki is too?

It an old book but I love it, 'The love genie' by Joanne Webster.
I've read it so many times throughout the years but I still love it, its one of them books you read when you just start high school and you find yourself really connecting to the main character, Jennie.

'The dare game' by Jacqueline Wilson, another one of my high school books which I could never put down, I've lost track of how many times I've read it now.

‘Brisinger’ by Christopher Paolini, I don't know if I've spelt that right. An amazing book which took me the whole summer to finish 3 years ago, I have always and forever will love Dragons so this was just a perfect book for me.

‘Angus, Thongs and full-frontal snogging’ by Louise Rennison, absolutely and amazing book which makes you laugh out loud and finish the book with a large smile across your face.

‘Twilight‘ by Catherine Hardwicke, its so addictive. The first book is the best, afterwards I didn't like the others. The first is by far my favourite.

I've always wanted to read 'Through the Looking glass', never been able to find it anywhere! :AH:

Its Animal Farm and the whole point of the book was to show that we are corrupt and thus a Utopia can never be achieved.

But yeah can't believe i forgot the Watchmen, so its a 3 way tie now for me :D

Its Animal Farm and the whole point of the book was to show that we are corrupt and thus a Utopia can never be achieved.

I still don't quite agree with that settlement and i think it's more about us being too gullible and stupid to recognize corruption for what it is.

Also, another reason i can't accept that answer is that Orwells was a staunch Socialist/ part commie i guess that couldn't stand for the way the Soviets corrupted Maxism.

I truly believe that it serves more for a metaphor for the russian revolution and as a story that we should be wary that we should never allow to happen.

So, my logic dictates that Animal farm cannot simply be a utopia can never exist but rather the fear of dicatorship, suppression of the masses, and fear of a world filled with Tyranny.

I think he couldn't be so cynical to think that a peaceful government that benefits the people cannot exist but as my previous statements goes, i think it's more about the russian revolution and how it failed.

I agree that this shows us that human ignorance is what leads to to corruption. People are to easily sawed by the big fancy speeches and don't ever bother learning the truth, until its to late. And Animal Farm was focusing on the Stalin russia of the time.

I agree that Russia soiled the name of Maxism, but i think it would've happen one way or another, it was good on paper but yeah power is to hard to control ect...Absolute Power Absolutely Corrupts

I absolutely Agree lol. Tbqh though, i wouldn't mind if the U.S. Government took on more socialist programs such as universal healthcare.

Da Vinci Code tbh sucked because i couldn't suspend my disbelief reading it as it could actually happen. Which is bad for all mediums of entertainment.

I guess i couldn't put pass the notion that they actually found the body when irl they couldn't prove anywhere close to such a thing.

Anyways:

I love Allstar Superman

Alien vs Predator (Dark Horse comics)

Perfect Dark Operation Janus

Pendragon saga
There's 10 books in the series and 3 side books. I call them side books 'cause they're not necessarily part of the main plot of the series. It's more of accounts of the character's pasts. If you haven't read it, I suggest you do. You're missing out on the awesome-ness. ^_^

I agree. I don't think that Orwell was saying that Utopia can never be achieved; it's just as long as corrput individuals exist, it cannot.

Orwell>Huxley :D Though both books tackle different issues that have become a part of society, still...
Did I actually say what my favourite book was?
I don't have a definative favourite...naturally, 1984 is up there with them all...
I love Neil Gaiman's Smoke and Mirrors, though it isn't a novel. I like Roald Dahl, as well, and can still enjoy one of his books even now :)

The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons.... those are awesomely awesome...

Phail xD. Though i haven't read "Angels and Demons"; the Da Vinci code is not a book that should be on anyone's favorite list ._. It was a okay read with i have to admit good pacing but overall it lacks a lot of substance. Only because it was so controversial is that why it's famous. Even then, it fails that because there cases against the book that says it plagiarizes a lot from a book from 1980.

I have never read 1984 >.<

Other than that, a more updated favorite list for comic books would be:

Planetary by Warren Ellis (its better than "The Authority" = O)
The Sword by the Luna Brothers (Best damn Comic being released bar none)
All Star Superman by Grant Morrison (This guy knows superman and such a great story)
The Authority by Warren Ellis (Great Action comic that lost some its luster after reading The Sword and Planetary but it's still up there. It sucks though that the Volume 1 copy i have SUCKS HARD with the crappy paper it's printed on.)
Queen and Country by Greg Rucka (I have to admit; as much as i love the story; it's not very near and dear to me as Warren Ellis works. Probably because it's the book format i have of the collections of it. Lessens the enjoyment i get from them. Still, i think its at least as good as "The Authority" if not better ^^)
Street Fighter Legends Sakura (Best damn License comic book ever and it's literally like watching a Anime on paper but better. This is the comic that brought me out of manga to american comic books)
and finally

Perfect Dark: Operation Janus (Another lovely japanese influence art style comic but i must say is quite beautiful. The Story is pretty awesome since Greg rucka help made it. One of my newer favorites though i must admit i do nitpick at her hair style later in the story and the penciled lines sometime looked weird to me Ibh. Still i recommend it even if you pay full price for it. If you see for ten dollars like i did; it's a steal and you should buy it IMMEDIATELY)

Well that's all i have now ^^ probably something will later jar my memory and i'll post later again ^^
