Evangelion is a post-apocalypse mech series that draws from Judeo-Christian symbols from the book of Genesis and Biblical apocrypha. It further focuses on psychoanalysis of the main characters, who have many emotional problems. It's actually one of the more depressing anime out there, because it draws heavily on the authors life and some of the things he faced during his years of depression.

Well I havent seen the whole series but DN Angel is about a boy named Daisuke Niwa who has inhereted the ability to turn into a Black Angel named Dark when ever he thinks of Risa Harada, who is a girl he has a crush on.
Thats the basis of the plot and im not a spoiler type of person so Ill leave it at that. Someone else can expand this some more if they want.

Deathnote is one of the best imo. Lots of killing involved. Complex ideas involved, which will fascinate you as the series goes on. Hard to explain without spoiling anything.

I like Hellsing Ultimate ((NOT THIRTEEN EPISODE ONE! THE OVA!)) Death Note, G Gundam, One Piece, Shaman King, and Code Geass. Berserk would be with them if it were more like the badass super bloody and gory action manga! ... But if it had no Puck in it as well, it would be my number one! XD

how in the cookie monster can elfen lied be your fav anime, that show was insane. it had no point just blood and body parts flying off. did you know the first 7 mins of the first epiosde is consider the bloodyest moments in anime history.

i like anime with some blood it but, that show went loco with the body parts flying off.

*shrugs* I don't really understand it either.It's suppose to have the psychological aspects, but why bother when Serial Experiments Lain does it so much better imo.

I could understand Elfen Leid being a top choice. The actual story of what happens to Lucy when she was a girl and the fact that, despite her murdering Kota's family, he still loves her, makes for an incredible overall plotline. It's just brought down a little by wasted episodes focusing on unimportant details that have absolutely no bearing over the outcome of everything.

Elfen Lied was a very good anime, and as for the first episode being the most provacative moments in anime history, thats what makes it more unique and amazing. =] I like the blood and violence, makes things more interesting. If you dont like that type of stuff, well, then I guess you aren't one to watch it, but I know I was, and I could handle it. Made it more intense.

And I highly agree with you, waiting4KH3. The whole flashbacks, etc. with Lucy and Kouta as kids and what she went through just made the story more heartfelt and wanting you to watch more. Despite the fact she basically ruined Kouta's life, he still loved her dearly and pushed it aside. The whole story revolves around forgiveness and redemption, which is what I loved about this anime.

That's what makes it in my #1 spot next to Air Tv.

Don't forget the feud between Nana and Lucy and Nana's resentment for her, then her trying to cope with it and live together. On top of that there was the episode with Mariko and her father when he apologizes and, knowing what was going to happen, he carries her away so they could die together. Really heartfelt stuff.

The part with Mariko made me cry...the bond between the father and daughter was so great that he still wanted and promised to keep her alive despite the fact she was a dreaded Diclonius. They finally saw, and died together...Oh, how the japanese have their ways... ;D

Yes it was definitely a touching scene. I even felt sad when "Papa" (can't remember his name) took her and was walking down the street telling her about her mother and you knew what was coming. Especially how they show his eyes through the glasses and a tear falls on Mariko's cheek.

Getting off topic now. Should make a new thread to discuss this.

Love Complex was great, loved it. So funny, i couldn't really get into Bokura Ga Ita though, the voice actor for Nana was awful IMO and it totally ruined the anime for me.
