Light after Darkness: The New Dawn

About 5,000 years ago Emperor Constantine ruled over the Empire of Zi’land. Many people saw him as a great Emperor, possibly the best. He started the main religion, to this day, called Sanctysm (and the Church of Sanctysm). Sanctysm is the belief of thirteen Gods and Goddesses, the Sanctuary (where blessed souls go when they die), and the Abyss (where damned souls go).

The Gods and Goddesses were spilt into five tiers; Gods of Origin, Gods of Being, Gods of Fate, Gods of Judgment, and the God of Chaos (who got his own tier because he was so powerful). The Gods of Origin are Omega, God of the Stars; Verachmel, God of the Land; Telviathan, God of the Sea; and Mihr-Yahh, Goddess of the Sky. The Gods of Being are Behemoth, God of Courage; Stemaxx, Goddess of Wisdom; and Arggadon, God of Emotion. The Gods of Fate are Haneluch, Goddess of Birth; Anigma, Goddess of Life; and Zarael, God of Death. The Gods of Judgment are Seraphon, God of Light and Lord of the Sanctuary and Ba’ahl, God of Darkness and Master of the Abyss. Lucifer is the God of Chaos and he is said to be the most powerful and the most destructive of all the Gods.

Emperor Constantine also founded the Paladins. The Paladins are a special group of knights that fight to protect the Emperor. Each Paladin has a special element that they control and a special weapon. The Paladins live with their Emperor in the castle of Zi’land, called the Arx.

Approximately 2,000 years ago strange creatures started appearing all over Zi’land, and in the neighboring country, Pyria. These creatures were dark and evil and seemed to run on complete animalistic instinct. They attacked, and even killed, thousands upon thousands of people. They grew stronger and stronger and no one could find out a way to stop them, until one day the Emperor of the time, Emperor Wen, prophesized a pilgrimage that would save the world.

This pilgrimage involved six brave and powerful warriors to seek out the five Temples of the Gods, which were speculated to have been built by Emperor Constantine, but there has been no confirmation that they even exist. The Emperor’s prophecy gave them details about the Temples, but not their locations. Each warrior kept a detailed journal about their journey and they were to record the locations of each Temple. Supposedly, by the time they got through the fourth Temple, four of the warriors died.

After the two remaining warriors claimed they search all of Zi’land and Pyria, Emperor Wen prophesized that the location of the final Temple was, “on a far-distant land.” The two warriors, named Alin and Joel, and a small group of soldiers and sailors went on a voyage to try to find this new land. A year after they set sail, the creatures were fewer and fewer, until they were gone completely. Then three years after the last creatures disappeared, Joel mysteriously appeared back in Zi’land. He wouldn’t tell anyone anything about the voyage and people assumed her lost the ability to talk because of what happened. He eventually lost his sanity and committed suicide. Since then, many people have tried to sail to this new land, which some called Maggea (a land only fit for Gods), but have never returned.

The only people to know about the Temples and their locations were those brave warriors, Emperor Wen, and his Paladins. Many people wanted to know the locations of the Temples so they could become Holy Places, but since then Emperor Wen burned the locations and the journal entries from the warriors. To this day, people don’t believe any of it actually happened and that it was a complete fabrication by the Emperor.

This is just a prologue to a story I am writing.
It creates a history of the world and the main story is similar [not the same, though] to what happens in the prologue.
I wanted to know what people think, if it is any good.
Please, all comments are helpful.
Just as long as they aren't hurtful.
=D

P.S. I just wrote this a few hours ago, so it's in its early stages.

It sounds pretty interesting so far. I think the plot line has potential, and would like to learn more about the Characters, and what their world is like.
My only complaint? There seems to be an awful lot of Gods; I understand you want to give the background detail, but are all of them necessary?

Anyways, in a nutshell, go for it. See what happens.

Well, that's not the storyline.
It's giving background, a history, of this place, Zi'land.

You notice how I used "5000 years ago..." and "2000 years ago..."?
That is meaning I am going to start the REAL story in teh present.
And the Gods are important, because to stop the creatures from coming back, they have to visit the Temples of the Gods.
Temples of Origin, Being, Fate, Judgment, and Chaos.

The new and REAL story will have much more detail in the characters, more interesting storyline than this one, because more is goign to be going on besides "save the world from monsters".

I would like to read the real story. I think you've got a good storyline based off of just the background information. Some advice, be careful not to have too many characters because personally I think its harder to develop the story and keep all the characters involved, otherwise good luck :)

Ehh...
I'm not sure.
I guess, there are going to be about 12 important characters.
But, just about 2 - 4 main characters.
Until they all die.
O.O

I am still not sure what I am going to do with it.
But I think I'm just gonna write a summary.
Like what I did with this prologue.
Just write a summary of what I plan on happening.
And I will be sure to post it here.
