Surprisingly, there are no other theory threads in the Coded Section,
so I present this FIRST Coded theory thread in the Coded Section.
Clearly though Coded is a very different KH game, and there is little
information available for it currently. So this theory presents more
of creative conjectures that aren't necessarily based on a lot of
information. Basically, it's a chain of mostly random ideas.

As a courtesy to those who prefer short theories, I have prepared a
little summary below. And those who want to read the more detailed
theory can find it in the box below the summary. So here's the theory:

Coded Theories -summary

In Coded, someone places the line "We must return to free them from
their torment" in Jimminy's journal. I believe this person to be Namine,
and I believe Coded will help explain Namine's existence as well as
resolve how the promise to "Thank Namine" was never carried out.

I believe the line, "We must return to free them from their torment"
relates to Sora's adventure in KH1.

I believe Sora had Ven's heart in him in KH1, and I believe that
Ven's heart was somehow "infected" with something he picked
up in BBS. I think Ven's infected heart also infected the hearts
of every world it was on in KH1. So every world Sora traveled
to, from Destiny Islands to Hallow Bastion, was infected by
Ven's heart.

I believe the ones in torment in Coded are the hearts of the
worlds from KH1, which were infected. (Any world Sora
was one before he lost his heart at Hallow Bastion)

Just like how in KH2 Namine's powers in part with DiZ's comuter
helped to repair the damage done to Sora's heart, I believe that
in Coded Namine's powers in part with the data world of Jimminy's
journal is used to repair the damage done to the worlds' hearts
by the infection.

In Coded also, virtual Sora as he goes through his adventure
is fighting away the infection in the data world, also playing a
key role to restore the hearts of the worlds.

Meanwhile, Mickey is also contributing to the cause by making
good use of his knowledge and resources in relation to the
journal and the events that occur within the data world.

Some form of Roxas seems to continue to appear throughout the
Coded story and spread the 'data bugs' (data form of the infection?)
and this could relate to Roxas possibly having Ven's infected heart.

(Besides, why would Roxas appear in a data world made from
the KH1 journal? Roxas' existence wasn't recorded in that volume,
so he must have some special relation to the events in both KH1
and Coded)
---

Below is the more detailed version of the theory.

Coded Theories -detailed

"We must return to free them from their torment"

The story for Kingdom Hearts:Coded is supposed to revolve
around the mystery of who put said line in the journal and
what significance it holds. Thus, Mickey decides for the
contents of the journal to be digitalized in order to explore
the mysteries associated with it.

Questions still remain though. When was that line placed
in the journal? How was that line placed in the journal?
Who placed that line in the journal. And why was that
line placed in the journal.

There is little information about Coded, but these are
my ideas about the message in the journal.

First off, when was that line placed in the journal?

Truly, it could have been placed there any time.
It was written on the journal's last page (probably
significant) and who would check the last page
of the journal if Jimminy's notes didn't reach the
last page?

However, at the beginning of KH2, when Sora and
the gang are trying to recall the last thing they did
before they went to sleep, Jimminy goes through
the journal and finds only one line, "Thank Namine".

This leads me believe that the Coded Message wasn't
in the journal yet for several reasons. First off, Jimminy
said it himself, "There is only one line left." and I think
we can trust Jimminy to be correct about the contents
of his records. Plus the "Thank Namine" line wasn't even
written on the journal's first page. It was on some random
page of the journal. If Jimminy examined his journal well
enough to have found that single line on a random page
of the journal, then I should think that is examination of
the journal would have revealed any other messages left
there, especially a message on the last page. Plus,
the reason he opens up that journal in the beginning
of KH2 is to find out the last thing they did, so
Jimminy should have began his examination at the
end of the journal and work his way backwards.
Doing so would have revealed the Coded Message
on the last page.

In conclusion, I assume the message was placed
in the journal sometime after Jimminy examined
it in the beginning of KH2.

Next, how was that line placed in the journal?

If the line was placed there after Sora woke up,
then the journal should have stayed in Jimminy's
possession up til the end of KH2. If Jimminy didn't
place the line in the journal, then that means
the line was not written into the journal by
normal means. Some force that has the power
to influence the journal placed that line there.

Next, who placed that line in the journal?

Whoever placed that line the journal likely has
the ability to influence the contents of the
journal. Only few individuals could use such
an ability, and one of them is Namine. In CoM
she erased the contents of the journal. She
also demonstrate how she had the power
to change objects related to memories such
as how she changed Kairi's good luck charm.

My guess is that Namine placed the line in the
journal.

Why would Namine have a role in Coded though,
what does she have to do with the journal?

Namine's existence has always been a bit of a
mystery, and eventually what she really is will
need to be clarified. I'm not sure if that as been
done in KH'Days yet, but if hasn't, than Coded
is a place as good as any to do it.

Both Namine and Roxas were born as Nobodies
when Sora lost his heart. However, Sora only
lost one vessel. Sora's sole vessel could only
produce one Nobody, so out of Namine and
Roxas, only one of them could get Sora's vessel,
while the other would need to get a vessel
from elsewhere.

Thus is the Namine/Roxas birth anomaly.

I have arrived at a hypothesis. I believe that Naminé was born as a special type of Nobody when Sora attacked himself with the Keyblade, causing his and Kairi's hearts to leave their bodies simultaneously. Naminé emerged as Kairi's Nobody...but the body and soul necessary to exist as a Nobody belonged to Sora

My personal views is that Namine is the Nobody
that received Sora's vessel while Roxas' vessel
came from elsewhere (something BBS related).

Thus, Namine could take the form as Kairi's
Nobody since Kairi's heart was attached to
Sora's vessel when he became a Heartless.

Moving on to why Namine might be related to
Coded. Here's something Nomura said in an interview.

In KHII FM's additional event "To Put an End to Everything", Sora says "It should have been easy to say thanks to Namine, but I couldn't say it". At this point in time, does Sora remember the things that happened with Namine?

Nomura: If he remembers, it's because Namine's existence was made possible by Sora, and when Namine and Roxas return to Kairi and Sora, many things were connected. Since Sora never got to say thanks to Namine, please think of that as a hint.

Sora never got a chance to say thanks to Namine.
That's something that can only be settled in events
following KH2, which is when Coded is set to take
place. While it's true that Coded revolves around a
virtual Sora and not truly the real one, I think it's
possibly that "Thanking Namine" could be resolved
in that installment.

Alot of the new scenes added to KH2:fm were
related to the new games coming out. There was
"Farwell to a Friend" in which Axel and Roxas eat
ice cream on the clock tower talking about their
time in the Organization and such, and this scene
related to what KH'Days would expand on. There
was "The Truth about the Chamber of Sleep" in
which Xigbar and Zexion discuss Xehanort's past,
and this scene relates to what KH:BBS would
expand on. And there was "To Put an End to
Everything" in which Sora talks about how he just
couldn't bring himself to thank Namine, and I
personally believe this scene relates to what
will be expanded on in KH:Coded.

Plus, the Secret Ansem Reports left some points
open that still need to be covered.

Perhaps she continues drawing in hopes of capturing that which she lacks: the memories of others, especially Sora.

Namine was born without memories, but she had
the power to tamper with Sora's memories, so she
eventually became aware of Sora's past. However,
Ansem speaks of Namine as if she still desired to
capture the memory she lacked. Ansem even makes
a point in saying that she is most curious in Sora's
memories, which would makes sense if Namine
turned out to be composed of Sora's vessel.
That would mean that Namine's physical past
was the same as Sora's past. And if Namine
was composed of Sora's vessel, then that
would mean that the vessel Sora had all of his
childhood, the vessel that received the Keyblade
and fought against the Heartless, the vessel that
found Kairi in the cave and sheltered her heart,
the vessel that traveled across the worlds in KH1,
the vessel lost when Sora gave up his heart at
Hallow Bastion...

That vessel... Sora's vessel... who did all that stuff
in KH1... the stuff that was recorded in the journal...
would become Namine's vessel when Sora lost his heart.

Namine would be related to the journal because the
journal recorded Sora's journey, and Namine being
composed of Sora's vessel would mean that by relation
the journal is also a record of her past as well, a record
of the memories she lacks. This could be Namine's
relation to that journal, this could be her relation to the
events in KH1, this could be her relation to Coded.

Also, Namine being related to the journal in Coded might
explain somethings. First off, Coded so far has shown
several events that occurred in KH1 but was not witnessed
by Sora or the gang. Mickey's supposed to enlighten virtual
Sora (and the audience) what he was up to in KH1. Plus
there are a few scenes showing Riku's actions that were
not seen in KH1 but probably did occur. These unseen
event's wouldn't end up in the journal, so if the journal
was digitalized to make the setting for Coded, then how
can these unseen events be witnessed if they weren't
related to what was recorded in the journal. A couple
ideas come to mind, but none fit better than Namine's
involvement.

She didn't just have power over Sora's memories but
also the memories of those related to Sora. Riku and
Mickey fall under that category, so Namine's own
existence being tied with what's going on with the
journal could be used to fill in the blanks that weren't
recorded in the journal.

Plus, if Riku's journey is going to be revealed, then him
tracking down and taking care of Kairi's vessel is probably
going to be a key point his story, and with that, there
might be some foreshadowing where some questions might
come to mind such as "Why didn't Kairi's vessel become a
Nobody?" or "If Namine wasn't made from Kairi's vessel, then
where did her physical form come from?"

I expect Coded to primarily exist for the purpose of not just
setting the stage for KH3, but to also explain some things
from past installments. Namine's existence still needs to be
explained.

If Namine placed the message in the journal, the questions
remain. Why did she place it in the journal. What does the
message mean?

This one is a tough mystery to speculate on. It's best
to begin with breaking down the message.

We must return to free them from their torment.

I find it interesting that the word 'we' is used.
I believe the person who left that message believes
that they too will be making the return to 'free them
from their torment'.

I think Namine intends to be involved in Coded one
way or another. Maybe in spirit or something. Perhaps
she'll use her powers to help out somehow. Perhaps,
she'll be part of virtual Sora as he ventures through the
KH1 adventure, sort of like how (if she is composed of
Sora's vessel) she as Sora's original vessel was a part of
Sora during the original KH1 until Sora lost that vessel.
Who are the other persons of the 'we' though? Who
would Namine intend to see this message? Maybe she
doesn't care so much of who finds it. As long as someone
makes the effort to 'return to free them from their torment'.
Whoever makes said effort, she will be there to assist
somehow, so again, maybe her powers will come into play
to relieve the torment.

We must return to free them from their torment.

What does it mean by 'return'? Return to where? It means
the individuals of the 'we' must have been there previously
if they are returning. By return, I believe it means that
they must revisit the events of KH1 OR they must return
to the worlds they visited in KH1 because something
happened to those worlds in KH1.

We must return to free them from their torment.

Most importantly, who is 'them' and how are they being
tormented.

I think the 'them' is related to the worlds Sora visited
in KH1. Perhaps the 'them' are or have something to do
with the hearts of those worlds. These worlds have
somehow been harmed, and Namine having come aware
of their torment might send out a message through
the journal.

Actually, it might make sense for Namine to want
Mickey to receive that message. Mickey does have
more resources than Sora, plus Mickey is known
for taking responsibility for the stability of the worlds.

Somehow, the actions done in the data world in Coded
is being used to fixed damages in the real world. I think
Namine's powers is playing a role here. Sort of like how
Namine's powers with the help of DiZ's computer was
restoring Sora's memories (the glitches in Roxas' dream
and such being connected to Namine rechaining Sora's
memories with the help of DiZ's computer). Thus, I believe
Namine could also use the occurrences in the data world
of the journal to help restore the hearts of the actual
worlds.

Anyway, in what way might these worlds be harmed?

I suspect something has eroded away at these world
hearts. Some kind of problem that has infected these
worlds, causing harm to the worlds' hearts and
memories (assuming that even the hearts of worlds
possess chains of memories).

And that's my basic idea for Coded. I think that
the worlds from KH1 were infected with something
that messed with the world's heart and chain of
memories so Namine uses her power through the
journal to restore those world hearts and chains of
memories. Through the data world, virtual Sora is
able to help by wiping out the infection on each
world. (Which I guess take the form as bugs or
blocks... like maybe those blocks are symbolic
for memory blocks or something in the world hearts)

Honestly though, it's about time that KH started
focusing on world hearts again, am I right?

But anyway, this theory surprisingly is longer
than I intended. So I'm going to touch upon the
last part of this theory.

How were these worlds from KH1 infected?

I think Sora infected them.

I think Sora unknowingly possessed some sort
of object and carried it across most all the
worlds in KH1. From Destiny Islands to Hallow
Bastion, Sora simply bringing this object to
these worlds infected these worlds' hearts.

What do I believe this object to be?

I believe it to be whatever Sora passed down
to Roxas, for if Namine is composed of Sora's
vessel, then what did Sora possess that could
be passed down to Roxas?

Specifically, I believe this object was Ven's heart.

Here's a Trailer description for Coded:

Background Music: Destati, drammatica version.

"A forbidden secret――"

Traverse Town
The King holds out a hand to Sora coming out of the back alley.
King Mickey: "Sora, your journey began here."
King Mickey: "What you don’t know is, that I was here on that day too."
King Mickey: "I'm going to tell you the truth."

Destiny Islands, the secret place.
A person wearing the coat of a Organization XIII member appears before Sora's eyes.

Organization member: "This world is damaged."
Organization member: "You'll have to go if you want to heal it's wounds."

Battle screens are shown.

Traverse Town.
Sora receives something glittery (probably data) from the person in the Organization coat.

Traverse Town, first district.
The person in the coat stands in front of some stairs.
Bugs spread from under their feet, appearing as black and red blocks.
Sora confronts the person in the coat

Sora: "It's you causing this catastrophe!?"

Disney Castle, the study/libary room.
The person in the Organization XIII coat appears in front of the King, Jiminy Cricket, Goofy, and Donald.
Again, the bugs spread from underneath their feet.

In this trailer description, it shows virtual Sora
confronting someone in an Organization coat.
Virtual Sora declares "It's you causing this catastrophe!?"
He is blaming this person, and from the trailer description
he appears to be correct in his accusation.

But just who is this person in the Organization coat?
One image from Coded shows the part where someone
in an Organization Coat appears in Disney Castle.
From said picture, judging from size and the design
of the shoes, it's a fairly safe bet that it is some form
of Roxas. Whether all the individuals in the Organization
coats are the same person can't be determined, but
there is some video of Sora confronting another
person in an Organization coat in Traverse Town,
and based of its height, it too appears to be someone
of Roxas' stature. Roxas may very well be the Organization
member seen in the all the scenes in the Trailers.

I mean, there is plenty evidence that Roxas is the
one in Disney Castle, and from the Trailer description,
it appears that the one in Disney Castle does the
same thing as the one from other parts of the trailer.
So Roxas might indeed be the ones in seen in the
Organization Coats.

Plus, I mean, BBS has Ven, Days has Roxas, so it's
only fair that Coded feature some variation of Roxas/Ven.
Besides, Namine is not the only Nobody whose existence
is in need of clarification.

So, if this person in the Organization coat is indeed
some form of Roxas, and if Sora is right about him
being the cause of all the trouble, then that might
Roxas is the cause of the conflict in Coded.

Interestingly enough, Roxas' role in Coded seems
to possess much significance, especially since he
shouldn't even be there. The data world in Coded
was made from digitalizing the contents of
Jimminy's journal from KH1/CoM, and Roxas suffers
the problem of not actually being part of those
adventures. He didn't even exist until near the
end of KH1, so there must be something special
about Roxas' existence to allow him to appear all
throughout Coded, even at Traverse Town.

Again though, Roxas appears to somehow be
the cause of the conflict in Coded...

Or rather, something in Roxas, the foundation of
Roxas' existence, is the cause of the trouble in
Coded, this component once again being Ven's
heart.

In BBS, Terra confronts Master Xehanort and demands,
"I have a friend. Tell me Xehanort, what have you done to his heart!"

Based off this, I sort of speculate that Master Xehanort
infected Ven's heart in BBS with something that slowly erodes
a heart. I believe Ven's infected heart continued to grow
weaker throughout BBS until it gave in to its own weakness.
Then I believe this heart separated from Ven's vessel and
found a way to eventually migrate to Sora's vessel, where
it remained dormant.

I believe Ven's infected heart had the ability to infect the
hearts of worlds it was on, and Sora spread this infection
to every world he ventured to in KH1 until Ven's heart
departed Sora's vessel at Hollow Bastion when Sora unlocked
his heart, releasing all heart from his vessel. Then I believe
Ven's heart found a way to form Roxas (No reason to bother
with those Ven/Roxas details in this theory).

Now I haven't been real specific about the nature of this
"infection" but avoiding going into too much details, I'll
say that I speculate it to be a certain thing that weakens
a heart's ability to feel and messes with a heart's memories.
Something that erodes a heart's health, kind of like an illness
or a "bug".

So... that brings this theory to a close.

Please comment.
