Woo!!~ Rant time!! By the way lot of spoilers, so don't read this if you plan to see it. I don't do tl;dr BS, so don't disagree with me unless you read the whole thing =P. Upon reading this you may think I'm a Harry Potter fanatic and I'm not at all, but this was my favorite book and I've been waiting for years for it to come out as a movie and they screwed it.

I hated it. HATED. It sucked, SO bad. Refund plox. Now you're prolly like "Gtfo, it was good" but no, it was not. And I will show you why it was not. To people who did not read the book you will not know why it sucked, but to those that did you will say "Ohay, it DID suck." Srsly.

Let's start with the most blatantly obvious part of the movie, the title. The Half Blood Prince. This was only touched upon in the movie a small handful of times. They made the title of the entire frickin movie insignificant. They mentioned it when Harry discovered the book. They mentioned it when the book betrayed Harry. And they mentioned it when they explained that Snape was the Prince. This is what I would call a poorly thought out movie interpretation. You do NOT make a movie where the title is insignificant to the plot. In the book Harry is obsessed with the book, he learns thing from it that he never knew; not just a single damn spell for enemies and how to make a random potion. I'll get back to that spell in a second too, because it bothered me as well. But you don't just make the title "Ohey here's a reference to the title! *Harry reads the book and wins*. And then "Uh oh book bad, no trust book! Book gots to go!" and then "I'm the Half Blood Prince *DUN DUN DUNNNN*." Pure fail, seriously. No sentimental aspect, no significance, and just simply planned out. Why was Snape called the Half Blood Prince? If you didn't read the book you don't know and you're sure as hell not GOING to know because they failed to explain it in the 6th and it's not in the 7th. Frickin FAIL. Now, back on that spell that Harry used on Malfoy, this was small but it bothered me. It was not a *OHCRAP. I HURT HIM REAL BAD!* and then frickin Malfoy is walking around a couple days later. Uh no? This was a severe spell that seriously facked up Malfoy and it was a big factor that added to their hostility. He messed up Malfoy REALLY bad and it was not at all played as such in the movie.

Now let's talk about Tonks. She played a HUGE role in the 6th book (well maybe not huge but FAR more significant than Ron's anonymous Girlfriend *WHICH PISSED ME OFF SO MUCH. I'll get back to that in a sec too) and all she got was a frickin Cameo in the movie practically. She appeared what? Like, twice? And it was just as a background filler. FAIL. Her relationship with Lupin and how Harry thought she was in love with Serius was another key thing to the story and they did abso-frickin-lutely nothing for her character. The very LEAST they could've done was have her do HER scene where she helps Harry off the train not Luna who also got almost no roles at all (Another thing I'll get to after Ron's GF). But no, we can't do that. Why be logical? Instead we're gonna give one of Harry's random friends the role instead so that way we can... serve no purpose other than simply to do it because it makes no difference either way. Yeah, let's just add a friend filler scene rather than a key plot-scene just for the hell of it? Good idea mirite? FRICKIN FAIL. Tonks played a significant role in the 6th book and they screwed her character so much.

Now about Ron's GF. I should kill the director of this movie. They spent so much time on her rather than putting that time towards some of the key plot points they left out that the director deserves to be thrown off a cliff. ALL they needed was to show the kiss when celebrating and how Hermoinee got angry. That's it, no more. Then later show her getting rejected when Ron was recovering and thus ends the psycho-[colorful word starting with a b]. She was insignificant and they gave her WAY too much spotlight. She was a plot device, not an actual character. Apparently the director failed to comprehend this. Seriously ridiculous.

Now, let's talk about Luna (and Nevil too, he goes with her). She played as minor of a role as she possibly could have in this. She is the most down-to-earth character and at the same time out of this world character (ironic much?). She did nothing in this movie. Nevil, my god he is EXTREMELY important from the 5th book on and though I tolerated his few parts in the 5th movie, the fact that he appears only ONE TIME in the 6th book and I don't believe he even talks, rather he just stands as a background filler, is just not acceptable. He is very important and they didn't even mention him. Wth. And talking about the unmentioned characters, Dobby and Kreature did not exist in this movie! FFS. When are they going to start bringing Dobby and Kreature in?! They've been absent for way too long and I won't kill a spoiler for the 7th movie but let's just say they HAVE to be in it so it's about damned time they bring them back in. But no, let's just pretend they don't exist and focus on endless sex innuendo between Ron and his anonymous GF. My envy for the director's intelligence and planning skills knows no bounds.

And here's something you may not have picked up on, and didn't have to read the book to agree with me. What happened to Dumbledoor's hand? Do you know? If you didn't read the book then no, you don't know. Are you going to find out? Well, he's dead so chances are no, you're not going to find out. He says the word "I'll tell you about it later" and does he? No, he does not. You will not find out what happened to his hands. Dumbledoor has the ring horcrux but do you know how he got it? No. Will you know? No. Once again, fail.

And I apologize, I cannot remember if this was the 7th book or the 6th book because it was so long ago that I read them both. But, was the relationship between Snape and Lily Potter in the 6th book? Because I swear if it was, I should get a hatchet, find the directors home and... *mumbles something*. Seriously, that was huge. I think it was the 6th book, and if it was the director should just never direct again. But if it was the 7th book, then I suppose he gets to see another day. I can't rant like hell on this because I'm not sure if it was the 6th book, but if it was my fury is endless.

There's so many other things that pissed me off, honestly. Not the least of which is the fail connection to show the Muggle world is being affected. They gave it a 2 minute introduction. Oh, and may I mention that facking Voldemort played NO role in this movie? Anyone else pick up on this? Sure his past was important, but what about the present? I think that right before he's about to start a war it's probably important to know wth is going on with him. I dunno, maybe that's just me? I mean, I can't imagine everyone wants to know what the MAIN FRICKIN ANTAGONIST is doing right?

Also it was choppy. Aragon (or whatever the spider was named) was funny, yes. But did anyone else pick up on the fact that it was not explained how the hell he died? It was just *surprise!* he's dead now. "Oh alright, I'll just go with it!" Maybe he was just getting old? Ok, how the hell did he get all the way up that hill to where Harry found him upside down and curled up? What about all the other spiders? Are they not going crazy that their leader just left the forest and died? He's only like, their father. Not THAT important right? Wth.

I'll stop now, this spoiler is long as hell. But really, there were so many things. OH BUT I MUST MENTION THIS! Every single one of the horcruxes is very sentimental and important to Voldemort. It's his soul, this is obvious. They did not explain why his horcrux was in that cave. They did not explain anything at all about that cave. To those that did not read the book, did you know he tortured two other kids there when he was first finding out about his powers? No, you did not. Because there was too much time spent on that damned anonymous GF of Ron. I shall end now, I must end now lol. Otherwise this post will take hours to read.

I agree with most of what you said RO.
I really didn't like that they didn't show the Gaunt's memory. If they can make the transformers movie 3 hours, why can't they extend Harry Potter's time just a bit?

Also, the love was so OBVIOUS. It was just so weird and OUT THERE.
I agree there is tons wrong with this movie.
But hey, if you want to know everything, read the book, don't watch the MOVIE.

Also, one thing I noticed that was stupid: The unbreakable vow was pretty stupid in both the movie and the book. They do it in the beginning, but except for one conversation with Draco later on, they never mention it again... it just seemed pointless.

Exactly. I wouldn't mind an extra 40 minutes to change it from a moderately semi sorta ok film to a kick-ass movie.

Also, the love was so OBVIOUS. It was just so weird and OUT THERE.

I hadn't noticed that but that is another thing that was pointless and time consuming. However, that was a problem with the book itself not so much this movie. But still, it's just that 10 minutes extra that didn't go towards something important =l.

Actually this is already longer than Transformers. And yes they should explained the Unbreakable oath more. That was pretty important in the books

;OO, I thought it was gripping, ^W^; And occasionally quite funny with hormonal innuendo, fused with spectacular visuals.
The acting, =DD. Was also rather good: Snape being deliciously reptilian, ^//^; Luna being hippie psychedelic, and so on.
DD: I felt that the plot was a bit undefined, however. I dunno, =OO. I was trying too hard to make bridges between movie and book, it's details of which I hardly remember! ;OO, Perhaps my broken recollection had been why the movie seemed equally broken.

It was alright, but it was like watching a different HP movie. Plot-following = Crap. Lots of interesting aspects of the book that weren't included, gah.
Less romance and less "Harry! Sir!" would've been enough to add some of the most important plot facts. But, it was pretty funny, so it was okay.

Since movie 7 will be divided in two parts, I am WELL hoping there's nothing left out. For the sake of the fans, please follow the storyline at least ONCE in your lives. -_-
