I like to read things that will shock me. Yes, it's hard to get me to laugh and to be shocked. So horror genres and really comedic ones are usually up my alley.

lol minor fail in my opinion but please believe me that i don't hold it against you or i mean any thing mean by that. I just find that Shoujo to be more formulamatic and cliched than even shounen titles.

I thought that about you xD.
Other than that, What i like to read would be:
Manga Directory (Showing: Seinen Manga)
Seinen manga is meant for a more mature male audience. It is the male equivalent of Josei manga. Seinen titles are darker and more somber than their Shonen counterparts.
Yeah i'm at that age where i crave substance over sugar lol. So, i do check on shounen titles time to time but only the more mature comics appeal to me.
Titles like 20th Century boy, Monster, Highschool of the Dead, Super Cruel And Terrible Tales Of Mangaka Manga , and Liar Game appeal to me more now that i'm 20 years old lol.
Also, I like to read Yuri a lot. The works of Morinaga Milk stand to me most though. I did like Maki Maki (no where for kids lol) but i generally tend to stay from most yuri titles. I find most of the stuff boring or in Strawberry Panic cases; beyond the suspension of disbelief lol.

I'm with Oddity on this one. I really don't read manga or watch anime for the sake of getting my action high or having the satisfaction of going "Awww" at a romance. When I pick up a manga, I either look for something dark or something humorous, with a preference to the former. I really like a manga that can terrify me to an extent or give me a good shock. I consider anything that leaves me thinking about what happened after I've put down the book a good read. Manga like Leviathan, Higurashi, and Evangelion (to an extent) are some of the things that I get into the most. Call me a freak, but I really like reading those sadistic and grotesque stories that make me think "Holy crap, did that just happen?"

Have you read Monster? I would recommended that for a thriller/shocker. Good story, that manga.

Well when i read manga it is hard for me to get into anything actiony(not to say its impossible just harder) so i tend to read more Romance/Yuri/Comedy manga. Hence the reason why my favorites are Suzuka, Kare Kano, Bitter Virgin, Girlfriends ect...
Although i am still new when it comes to manga and i am starting to branch off into different genres.

Lol, We have a big diverging taste. I love Wide Screen action of "The Ultimates" and "The Authority". Well, it's not manga but the type of action comics they are better than most fight shounen stuff like DBZ, Bleach, or Naruto.
Other than that, i don't read a lot of romancy stuff either but i do love Milk Morinaga titles which are all yuri romance slice of life stories. I do get a kick out of them but i don't go out of my way to look for a romance title... Well Non Yuri romance lol. I read the american equivalent to Girlfriends called "Strangers in Paradise". So i guess i love lesbian romances lol.
Then again, i love "Ah, My Goddess."
Other than that, I love grosteque stuff too though it's probably more a gore factor. Titles like Mirai Nikki and Highschool of the dead come to mind. Still, Titles like Dead Man Wonderland and Evangelion are too full of themselves and i feel contempt for stuff like that.

Comedy manga are a hard sell for me because i feel a lot of the jokes and punchlines are forced. Well, at the least the comedy in Naruto and Bleach are but those titles probably don't qualify as comedy....
Still, i love Naoki's "The Super Terrible Tales of a Mangaka" A very vulgar yet hilarious take on a life of mangaka's.
Another Comedy i liked was: Love Hina but i think if i went back to it; i wouldn't like it as much xD
