View Full Version : Where the Wild Things Are
I'm sure we've all heard about this movie. it's base off the book....witch should be obvious by the title...but if you haven't seen the trailers...now worries.

I'm completely in love with the book and have been since I was young, so when I heard about the movie like, waaaaay, waaaay back, I was ecstatic.
Brilliant choice of song for the trailer; The Arcade Fire's lyrics reflect the storyline almost perfectly.

I saw this trailer a while ago and got really excited. This actually looks lovely, I fell for the book as a child and it brought back good memories.

When I saw the preview during HP I think a little piece of me exploded. I really can't waittt. The book is lovely and it was a part of my childhood. Though, for some reason, I feel that if I watch the movie I might cry .__.
Yeah.. I know.. Weird... But I just have that notion in my head.
But I'm still going to watchhh ittt =D

It's like the book "the hungry catepillar". C'mon, who doesn't remember that book?

I can't wait to see this. This was one of my favorite books when I was little. :D Brings back good memories of when I was teeny.

Exactly how I feel. I can understand some people are nostalgic when it comes to this movie, but eh it's not for me lol.

I can't believe this is the first time I'm hearing about this. I absolutely loved this book as a kid. I carried it everywhere I went and would read it constantly. I must see this movie.

I don't really want to see this movie. I mean I will, but I'd rather see some of the other stuff. I mean I loved the book, but making it into a film might just ruin it for me.

Yeah, it's a risk. But I've watched all the trailers, and it looks like it'll be different, yes, but just as endearing. The soundtrack is also quite amazing, and I know the storyline will go with it.
And if I don't like it, I'll probably just cry in the movie theatre and then read my book the second I get home.
I don't plan to see this movie, personally. I'm too afraid that the movie will ruin the nostalgia from the book for me too much, and I won't like it as much as I do. D:
Just don't go into expecting it to be a word-for-word version of the 35-page masterpiece. They've had to create an underlying plot. They've had to change parts, probably. Just don't go into the theatre expecting Where The Wild Things Are, by Maurice Sendak. Expect Where The Wild Things Are as written by Spike Jonze.

Not sure if anyone has heard about this, but apparently parents are in an uproar that the movie is going to be "too scary for children."
Maurice Sendak, the writer of the original story, offered this response to parents: "Go to Hell!"
That's right, he did it. This guy is my new hero for finally telling some parents off because they spoil their little brats too much. He additionally added that if it's too scary for them, they should "wear diapers." This is great stuff.
Can't wait to see this, btw.
Scary? The book is scary. Scarier. Outside Over There is another children's book by Maurice Sendak, and is probably the most terrifying thing I've ever read.
Kids need to be less pissy.

It's all because parents don't raise their children now. They let their TV and all the stupid programs on it do the parenting for them. Thus, why they blame TV and videogames for the fact that they suck at rearing children.
...I wanna see the movie, BTW. The book was the first I'd ever read.

I agree. I think in alot of cases books have always had a way to frighten more than a movie. In a movie, everything is already imagined for you. In a book, you are left to your thoughts.
(Anyone ever heard of the Tailypo legend? Looking back, I'm still creeped from what I remember of it.)
I'm still planning on seeing this, once I have the chance. I recently had a listen to the soundtrack and am impressed with some of the pieces.

Spike Jonez already had to re-edit some of the movie a while back because the studio felt that his first version was far to dark. Very good movie by the way.

It sucked. It was nothing like how I pictured it and frankly I was sitting in the theater wondering when the heck it was gonna end. I was willing to give it a chance, but it let me down, even with my low expectations. I would wait until it comes out on DVD to watch it.
