Didn't see this thread in this section so figured i would start the topic. I just got back from the seeing it and this is probably the second best movie this year. It was amazing, loved everything bit of it.

Was it good? I want to see it, too, but skeptical as always.

Good storyline? Good acting? etc?

It was good in the video gamesque sense. It reminded me of a true hollywood story but with a hint of video game sci fi mixed in. It was a good movie, but it was more of a spoof to me.

Yes the acting was top notch. Story was amazing IMO but its been done before(all that was different from other movies such as this was the Aliens and the alien weaponry).

Probably the best movie of the summer. (Though thats not saying much)

Not sure how anyone could think of this as a spoof though.

It looked like a spoof on a True Hollywood or a Dateline episode.

The movie was weird though, but with the effects and the weapons, epic.

I loved it.
YES, it has been done before, but not like this, not as good as this,
and it makes the whole, camer viewer thingy MUCH better than Cloverfield did,
and in my opinion,
with brand new actors,
it was brilliant,
I beleive it's the best movie of the summer,
*shuns the non-scifi lovers*
then again you probably should'nt judge my opinion becuase I like sci-fi movies..
but still, great movie that better get a sequel...

I want to see this so bad, but I'm totally lacking money. What did you think was the number one movie of the summer, burntlettuce?

District 9 was the number one movie this summer, and second best this year. I give Watchmen rains for the best movie of 2009 but this is a close second.

I really enjoy District 9, the action was top notch at some part of the movie. I think he threw a pig at a soldier.

This movie was awesome. The acting was as good as nessecary, the violence was bad, but not overpowering, the story was superb, there was some humor in there (like the pig), and it was a bit of a political stab. Also, the special effects were more than top notch. They weren't there just to be there, they were there because they needed to be. The aliens looked real and acted real and the weapons were just awesome.

I enjoyed the reality of the situation. I would imagine humans, and real people, to respond in such a way to the given state of things.
The lead became an unexpected hero, and I really give the main actor credit for steping up to the plate.
All and all, it really is worth the time.

This movie blew my mind. Though the first thirty minutes was dreadfully slow (and had me thinking that this was some sort of political parody), once the intrigue and action began I was hooked the entire way. The movie was brilliant, the special effects, make-up, and acting were all superb. The main character was fantastic. I honestly don't think anyone could've topped the actor, either. If you haven't seen it, do so immediately. This is quite possibly the best movie I've seen in the longest time.

very good movie, in terms of picture, and quality, plot seemed like a very realistic response towards the aliens, weaponry looked very real, cg effects after weaponry where fired looked as if it was real it self, plot is very well done, actors are new and very emotionally-set, and i am glad to say that this moive is a rarity to see, and it is very much worth both your money, and your time, so if you got some bucks in your pocket, take a look at it, you just might like it =) i know i did :D

It's been a long time since I've seen a good Sci-Fi flick, and this truly delivers the goods! Great story, brilliant acting, and superb effects! After a summer of shit, this film is a breath of fresh air! A must see!

You said it all except the best movie in a while, I saw 9 even though it's animated and childish compared to this, I kinda liked it more *my opinion* BUT district 9 is WORTH THE WATCH!
