Question and possible request

When I get the answer to my question, it could be a request.

I was thinking about GIF avatars and was wondering if it was possible to do this. Is it possible to make a GIF avatar from a video that is on a DVD? Myself not knowing anything about GIFs, hope somebody here does. Thanks in advance.

You'd need to have a screenshot of the part you want as your avatar, and then you could get somebody to crop it and perhaps add effects to it, if wanted.

The problem is I don't want a just a screenshot with flashy effects. I want like an actual few seconds of video as a GIF.
