So basically I'm writing an English essay right now about Death of a Salesman and it's just bundles of joys and endless smiles. Love this stuff [/sarcasm]. In my thesis I'm stating that Biff and Happy fluctuate between being essentially the same person in the way they view success and absolute opposites. My original thesis was, "Throughout the play both of the characters Biff and Happy interchange between being cognate and opposites to portray a contrasting perspective for that era and defining what it means to actually be successful." At this point though my teacher has said that what I'm really trying to argue is that Happy is Biff's foil; he's not =l. Happy does not prevent Biff's success (or at least if he does I'm not trying to argue pro or con against that) simply that the two interchange. Anyone have some tips or ideas on a better way to say this? Eventually I'll get something for better or less but in the interest of time and happiness some tips would be lovely.

Question #1: Was the author/creator of this book/play drunk during the process of creating it?

Question #2: Was your English teacher drunk during the process of assigning this?

Question #3: Were Biff and Happy's parents drunk during the process of deciding their names?
