He's over 109 years old and was one of the 20th Century "Century Babies" who was born to protect the Earth. Being a century baby, he doesn't age and has been gifted with the power over thermal dynamics that takes on the ability to freeze things. His powers are assumed to be that he sends thermal energy from this dimension to a negative zone.
His power itself doesn't manifest itself as in ice but rather what he wishes to freeze he simply puts power to removing heat from that area. Think as if it was a vacuum that instead of sucking air out of area but out of dimension but instead heat. A example of his power would be to freeze the fluids in your brain killing you instantly. His power is not absolute in the sense he was not able to do it to Wildstorm universe Human Torch whose immense heat kept him alive.
Other than controlling thermal dynamics, his age grants wisdom and experience that he applies to battle. He's also very rich for his long life gave him time to amass a huge fortune that makes his planetary corporation one of the richest of the world. Just saying that he's like batman.
Somewhat of a good hand to hand fighter but does not depend on it but rather his wits. His long life also exposes him to the secret histories of the world and therefore it's technology.

Beginning of the Story:
It's been 9 long years since Jenny Sparks saved the world from being destroyed by a Alien tentacle God that created the Earth. Since then, the duty has fell on Elijah Snow to keep the world safe. From totally defeating "The Four" (a organization whose goal was to sell the Earth) to thwarting a supervillians invasion from another dimension; Elijah has done his best to keep the world safe without her.
Now, with "The Four" out of the picture, Elijah has become the most powerful man on the face of the planet. At his disposal are "The Four's " legendary technology that consist of rare alien tech and the financial backing of most profitable corporation in the world: Planetary. It is because of these two factors there almost no power on the planet that can match him save maybe Jenny Sparks true successor, Jenny Quantum.
Still, even without planetary or the advance technology, Elijah would certainly be a dangerous man. He was at birth born with the power to control temperature in space and time thus giving him the ability to displace thermal energy. With a mere thought, Elijah could freeze the brains of a would be assassin or extinguished mile wide forest fire. It's was this power that had made him a power to be reckon with during the 20th Century.
Yet in all his power and wealth; the one thing that those who would be against him fear would be neither of these attributes. Elijah greatest asset one could say is the amazing intellect he possess. Along with being a smart man, Elijah was trained by Sherlock Holmes himself in the last century. Teaching him everything he knew, Elijah already brilliant deduction skills were refined to a point matching or even surpassing Holmes. It was because of this training and naturally brilliant mind that Elijah was able to bring down the Four reign of terror.
Still, a brilliant mind comes more often than not with a void. A yearning for something more. It's this yearning that has come to define Elijah and it his his curiosity. What sated this curiosity more than anything was finding the hidden secrets of the world. It's this constant searching to find the unknown that morph his belief that the world is a strange and wonderful place. In during these times away from saving the world that Elijah goes off on his own to satisfied his hungry curiosity.
And it's this exact reason now why he's mountaineering through the Himalayas for the ancient and sacred city of Shangri la after finding a history book dating back over a 1000 years ago. Within it's pages, it detailed the exact location of the mythical city and some peculiar facts that would have surprised anyone other than Elijah.
Supposedly, the city housed a great weapon that could sink continents and that it was only used once before in land in the far West. Elijah assumed it must be related to Atlantis and it served to only perked his interest more. The only other detail that comes off as strange in the book to Elijah however was the account of it's ruler. That of strange man whose height exceeded 8 feet and already by the time hundreds of years old when it was written.
The account of this ruler also detailed that he was quite, for a lack of a better word, hairy and that it was he who had brought the weapon from it's ancient resting place to current location of Shangri La. Elijah, even with all his strange encounters, couldn't make heads or tails of the finding. Still, he made arrangements to go to Tibet with a support team consisting of himself and support crew to find the mythical city.
On his way there, Elijah couldn't help but have a bad feeling as he was flying towards Tibet. He wouldn't have his main field team along with him to deal with any problems that may arise. More so, he felt that he wouldn't be able to share the experience the closest people to a family he had still alive.
He had let his close person team of Jakita, Drummer, and Ambrose take a long break after the war against "The Four" had drag for far so long. He felt that everyone deserved a time of rest now that all the major threats that loomed over the world had been taken care of.
In the meantime that Elijah has been without them, Ambrose was enjoying the time with is wife and child after being in suspended animation for well over 9 years. He was far too much enjoying his time with his family that Elijah couldn't bear to separate them.
As for Jakita,his adopted daughter of sorts and body guard, was on a trip around the world basically learning the ways of peace. Her battle against "The Four" was the longest and now that peace has finally prevailed; she was without purpose and Elijah let her take leave in order to make sense of her life Post "The Four".
The Drummer however was still on duty yet without jakita; he felt that there who should be taking care of Planetary inner workings. It didn't help matters that Drummer was only good with technology and where Elijah was going; it seemed that there only would be pile of rocks.
Elijah overall couldn't shake the feeling but his sense of anticipation kept the uneasiness in check. For Elijah, it had been many years since he had gone by himself to venture for the mysteries of the world. That sense of uncertainty of begin without his team surely would spice things up in his old age.
But to be on the cautious side, Elijah left The drummer instructions that should he fail to make contact once every 24 hours; he should send Jakita and Ambrose to come search for him.
Moving forward in time, Elijah arrives in Tibet with his uneasy feeling gone in favor of that of adventure and curiosity. Elijah then basically hit the ground running following the map the book contained. it takes him a little over a week to finally come to the forgotten city of Shangri La.
The area it was in itself to the naked eye look no different than any spot on the mountain range. But after going a certain distance specified on the map; Elijah and his team went through a field of energy and were astonished at their findings.
"How Interesting," Elijah thought, "that these people would have cloaking technology on this scale." Indeed, for the city itself took up a whole mountain and something of this scale hasn't been even seen in all of Elijah years. "The power source must be like that of no other in recorded history." Said Elijah. Elijah continued in his thoughts, "To even manipulate the weather must mean that their level technological advancement may even surpass that of what "The Four" and i have gathered. This could be world changing if i can find out what it is."
Strangely, even in all of Elijah wonder and astonishment at the sight, he then felt that something bad was about to happen. Despite the fact that the mountain city look like that of a Utopia; Elijah still came across a feeling of dread.
Elijah then said, "I feel someone or something comes." He tells the support crew to go back outside the field of energy. He informs that he would call them in if it was safe after he explored a bit more without them.
