Event Changes: 3/11/2007

Hello everybody. It's change time again! About 2-3 weeks ago I thought things could use a little shaking up, so for the past few weeks I got together with my staff and we've done some planning. There are some decent-sized changes in here for you this month. Most of you will probably notice the user titles off the bat, but I think a very special change is in the moderated events. I realized, "you know, Kain, you aren't working your staff nearly hard enough." Thus, I'm now making them act as MC's. The forums could always use a little shaking up, right? Right? Ahahah, yeah. Without further adeiux, I now present to you: ZA CHANGEZ!!

* Name Change Policy *

Let's get the bad one out first. Recently there have been a number of requests for name changes. To be perfectly honest, I just can't do these. I mean, I can, as far as technically. However, it would really be a lot of time and effort to have to honor name-change requests all the time. It is an administrative function, so I can't give users the ability to do it. The other -- much more important -- reason is that it also confuses the community. Having somebody change their name without warning can be a bit unsettling. With that said, I can and will, if I'm in a good mood, make changes to your nickname that are merely cosmetic. I can remove underscores, '.'s, ','s etc provided that the original form of the name is available for use. Also, if a name is "expired"... that is, the person has not been around for a looong time, I will "free" it up for your use. If any of you have numbers after your name, this could be a good chance! So all in all, it doesn't hurt to ask. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to PM me.



* User Titles 2.0 *

Title have been revamped and are now the way they should have been from the beginning. Users will now work their way up from being various types of monsters from 0 posts to 1000 posts before they will become a wielder of the keyblade and turn to vanquish monsters. Titles 1.0 featured a total of 12 titles, 2.0 has been boosted to a whopping 30+ titles in the first 1000 posts, with titles ranging all the way up past 15,000! (I'm not going to tell the actual number, that's for the rest of you to find out!)

The new title system should also give more opportunity for changes. Previously the number of titles available after 1000 posts dropped off dramatically, and users had to work very long and hard to get new titles. Now, while the number of posts required does scale up, there is more opportunity to get new titles.

Note: Your title will change to reflect your post count after your first post.



* Staff Changes *

The user "Sora" has been added to the staff. I just want to let everybody know that Sora was not added because we needed more staff. He was added because of a prior arrangement between he and Alex. That being said, my previous statement still stands that are not looking for any new staff members for now. However, for those of you still interested in the position, don't give up because I have a queue in my head of the people who would fit the position.

In addition to adding Sora, my other moderators have been promoted as follows: Twilight Blade has ascended to full Moderator status. He is no longer in training. Aerith has ascended to Super Moderator status. Congratulations to both of you.



* Moderated Events *

Perhaps the most important change is a new policy that I'm making my staff participate in. The policy has been something that has been in the works for a little over a week now, and you can already see it in the Mafia Game. Here's the low down on these events:

Moderated Events are games/activities/discussions that are run specifically by the moderation staff. These activities are designed to provide the most fun possible, and encourage heavy participation. All users are highly encouraged to partake in them! Moderated events will likely be found either in the Kingdom Hearts 3 section if they are KH related, or in the General Forum if they are Games related. Please note that all Staff hosted games will be located in the General Forum area and stickied. This means that they WILL contribute to your post count. :) This is intentional (and works hand-in-hand with Titles 2.0). In addition, there are a number of prizes that will be available for winning the games that are hosted as events.

Prizes considered so far:
* Temporary titles that boast achievements. (Example: "This Week's Quiz Leader")
* An image or slogan that one can put in their signature to boast achievement. (Example: *picture of a mafia man*). Anybody else found "cheating" by putting that image/slogan in their signature will have their signature wiped out. :P
* An announcement about rankings/winnings that will be posted to all forums prominently for all to see.

If you have any suggestions/ideas for prizes, please let us know! We will continue to work to make these events as fun as possible.

Moderated events are run solely by staff, and each staff member runs each event according to their own discretion. One or more staff members may run an event. (And we already have one planned that will be a multiple-staff-member event. Kudos to Sora for the idea.) That being said, moderators are free to moderate the threads as they see fit. Users are expected to maintain appropriate behavior, else one's posts be deleted.

We hope that you enjoy the new policy, and your ideas are welcomed with open arms.

Whew, no more need to sound all professional. Gosh, that feels so stuffy. Anywho! There have been some recent issues with users getting tired of the forums and leaving, etc. I sincerely hope that some of the changes we're making around here will address some of those issues. You are all very important to us, and I hate very much to see any of you leave. I'm sure others on my staff will agree that you're all a swell lot, and sometimes it feels a bit like a big old family around here. If you have any ideas for ways to improve things around here that we aren't currently doing, let us know. I might come across as a little uh... gruff... sometimes, but I do love hearin' from you, honest! Together, let's make KingdomHearts3.org THE place to be!
