Most Disney films revolve around some form of romance. look at the worlds in KH2. Hercules and Meg , Simba and Nala , Aerial and that prince etc etc. They all happen as a conclusion of there story. Maybe when the last KH game comes out , we will see some romance.

Aeris and Cloud were becoming a couple before... well you know if you've played it. Cait Sith was saying "Poor Tifa" when he predicted for Cloud and Aeris.

Although there's an obvious connection between Sora and Kairi, they won't show them kiss - apart from Final Fantasy X, it's not Square's style.

Lesse. Herc nearly died when he was saving Meg. The Beast DID die protecting Belle (but was revived later...Disney movie, 'member?), Mulan got wounded when saving Shang and he risked his honour by helping her, Will and Elizabeth are engaged and went through total turmoil for each other, Aladdin and Jasmine eventually got married, and the game implies that Mickey and Minnie are married (king and queen). Most of these are backed by the movies, granted, but they're still the same couples.

As for the Final Fantasy characters...well, I'm a n00b to that series so I don't know squat XD

But I think the reason they haven't dwelt too much upon Sora/Kairi is that this Disney stuff is everywhere. The game would turn into by one big goopy mush festival.

But why does Riku 'need' somebody? While it would be interesting if he did have a significant other, I think that he can go on for a long time without a partner and be happy that way, as long as he has his friends. The fact that he's insecure actually might make him feel uncomfortable in a relationship because he'd be worried that he'd hurt somebody - not that Riku can't stay in a relationship, but I think that he'd face a lot of difficulties with somebody.

As long as he has his friends, I think that he'd be fine. I don't think that he'd feel left out if Kairi and Sora began dating, as long as they didn't spend time together to the point of near-obsession (anybody would get irriated by that).
