Signature Size

This is the last warning I'm going to give to you all. Our signature size requirements are FIVE HUNDRED (500) pixels WIDE and --- get this --- TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY (250) pixels HIGH.

Thus far I have only edited one signature. I'm being NICE. Note that my signature image is 132pixels. If your signature is even close to being twice as high, it is too large. People do not want to scroll down through your monstrous signatures.

NOTE: DO NOT UPLOAD SIGNATURE IMAGES TO THIS SITE. YOU WILL BE REJECTED FOR FILE SIZE ERRORS. UPLOAD YOUR SIGNATURE IMAGES TO IMAGESHACK OR PHOTOBUCKET OR SOMEWHERE ELSE AND LINK TO THEM IN YOUR SIGNATURES. I'm sorry, I had to make that bold and all caps for a reason.

Starting tomorrow I will begin editing.

Just a question guyz, i'm assuming you made those sigs yourselves. I personally also did using photoshop but had to make it smaller and the quality crap so it was a small enuf file size. How'd you get yourz so big within the limit?

Are you saving them as JPGs or BMPs? JPGs allow much bigger sizes and retain quality.

Also, it depends on how much detail your sig has.

Mine are PNGs btw, since their transparent :cool:

Axel, I use photoshop.. this is what I did..
Saved my sig as a .JPEG (Highest Quality possible)
Put my image on www.photobucket.com (http://www.photobucket.com) then got the image code and pasted it in the signature settings :D

That way you can make it as big and as detailed as you want :D

Do NOT upload your image in your signature. Upload it to ImageShack or PhotoBucket and LINK to it from your signature.

Our signature size requirements are designed around TEXT not IMAGES. Our size requirements for images are based around dimensions, not bits.

I'm new to the whole digital picture editing thing, can someone tell me why when I take pictures and edit them and stuff, it messes up the image extension. what Photobucket told me is that i do not have a "valid image extension" and that I need it to be in -so many different formats- but on the file in my computer it still says it is in JPG.

I can change the format but it still says it is an invalid format in photobucket, like I put it in GIF and it didn't do anything. ?????????? Can someone help me out? Could it be the program I am using? I am using Serif Photoplus- a small but good program. I will appreciate anything ya'll have to say.:D

I presume you're just typing the new extension, which doesn't work. Whatever pictures you take have to be saved in a certain extension/format (depending on the picture and program you're using) and have to be saved in a program or converted with a valid converter. Photobucket doesn't take GIFs I think - if you want to upload a moving GIF then use:

http://www.theimagehosting.com/

If it's not a moving GIF, you can just save it as a JPG and use PhotoBucket or ImageShack.

Other than 500 pixels width by 250 pixels height, I'm not sure there's a limit. As DragoonKain has said many a time, don't upload the picture to this site, upload it elsewhere and link to it under edit signature. Avatars have a limit of 39.1kb.

I'm having trouble bringing in my signature. I've created it on Photoshop, saved it as JPEG (238x100 pixels), linked to photobucket, uploaded JPEG image, copied URL, pasted it in "edit signature" and message says "file too large". Also tried copying image code but message says "invalid file".

What am I doing wrong? :(

Put the link to it in [IMG] tags in the text box instead of the "Enter the URL to the Image on Another Website" box. If that doesn't work, try using ImageShack instead of PhotoBucket, as people have had problems with that before.

people have problems with photobucket only because they don't put the [IMG] code in where you'd normally put text, they put it in where it says to put a picture
phtobucket works just as well
but you could use imageshack, i haven't been here as long as Riku, so i really don't know

Yeah don't use the toolbars on the bottom of the page, use the window where you would normally post text messages, lol, Riku is refering to me most likely, I was pestering him for weeks about this and nobody could understand what I was doing wrong. lol. So just use it as an image where you would normally post texts. That should work.

They are TOO BIG. We are seeing a huge problem with these "Girl power" and "Male power" groups that have like 15 people in there... these sigs are becoming too tall. Please fix them soon or become victim to the moderators.

Yes. Signatures are designed to give a little information or insight into yourself, not tell your life story. People don't like having to scroll past 1000 pixels of your junk every time you post. We've been lenient thus far, and we're only really targeting the massive, titanic sized signatures.

Another option to lists is to write names one after the other using a different colour for each one. This takes up a lot less space.

Actually, all of the posts will display regardless of how long they are. The number of posts displayed per page is set in your User CP options. The long sigs just make your mouse-wheel finger get tired. :P

All you have to do is make your words smaller and bunch them together. It does help if you take some responsibility for your own signature.
