Will all of the other girl gamers out there unite in this thread to show the boys that they are not the only one with opposable thumbs?? I am so sick of people telling me that I cant be a gamer because I'm a girl!! It sickens me and I get it all the time!!

What can you do, eh?

I know more female gamers than guy gamers, actually. It's just the girls are less likely to shout it out what sex they are, due to the prejudice that "Girls can't play games" or "Girls don't like games."
A lot of this is because there are games out there (most of them, even) designed for guys, or to be attractive to guys. Look at ffx-2! TOTAL male fanservice. GTA, Doom... It's been designed around stuff only guys are supposed to like.
This is why when, at DisneyLand Paris, I walked into the arcade in the complex we were at, I got stared at. Especially when I kicked the ass of every guy in there at the tekken game, as well as at air hockey.
But it was worth the winnings.
(Also, these were people from other schools, all on school trips. About 3/4 other schools alone in the complex)
Winnings: 30 euros (And I didn't pay for any of the games) some presents from a few of the guys because they were in total shock and free breakfast/dinner for the entire trip. I sat at a different table every morning, too lol. My friends were aways near me however.
Highly amusing, indeed.
Oh, and the ones that were in the same dorm thingy in our complex snuck up to our floor and joined the party we had on the last night. The teachers were all out getting drunk as well XD it was well funny.
AH, I do miss that.

Hey, girls got the same rights to do whatever they want. For example, some guys tell girls that want to be soccer players that they can't just cause they are 'girls'... And dude, I myself, got a girl friend that can actually bounce the ball on her knees around 60 times... And she's young and has NEVER practiced soccer.

So I don't really see why they think that.. I mean, I think that that type of girls are cool. Just like that.

And it's the same with videogames. They are for everyone, no matter girl or guy. And I know some girls who would kick our a$$ (all of ours) at videogames, and KH too :D

I dont really care if your a girl or not when it comes to video games. There I draw the line at your competence and your patience.
As an example:
I was trying out teh Wii in a Game Stop when some little fat kid(a guy) comes up to me and starts yelling about "Theres a time limit, let me play, its my turn, im a spoiled *****, wha wha wha" There was another girl there who was patiently waiting and watching, unlike the little fatling. (no ofeense is you are, uh, larger im only attacking this kid)

I dont do the whole "Guys are better than girls" thing. For those of you who do,
ITS ALL RELATIVE!!!
In some areas a Girl might be better (knitting, for example), and in other areas a guy might be better(wrestling). It really depends on who the guy/girl is and what kind of personality they have.
And there are also many exeptions to this, as i have seen many men knitting and many female wrestlers.

Personally, im happy that Girls are becoming more and more integrated into the Gaming comunity, the more people the better it is for multiplayer!!

P.S. One thing tho, is that most girls (that I know, but not all of them) would vomit if they saw the awesom trailer for Bioshock (you look down to see a huge drill coming out of your stomach, blood and guts everywhere, acomponied by your screams) that i saw on G4. Its a common streotype that girls cant handle that, and those idiots who belive that are the ones who are shocked at girls playing video games.

P.S.S. Another thing, guys(most anyway, including me) want to show off in some sort of manly way, and now that you can virtually rip peoples heads off with a chainsaw we've found a new way to show off. Now, who is more lickely to want to show off by violently ripping their opponets head off with a rusty chainsaw, a guy or a girl? guys right? well, not so much anymore as this thread shows.

All in all, It really depends on who you are specifically that makes you "better" than others.

It's funny, in my school. I'm the only girl I know who's into gaming. I was chatting to one of the guys I know on MSN and my avi pic was an AC screen and he goes, OMG DON'T TELL ME YOU'RE INTO FFVII? I was like, yeah, I am, why do you hate it or something? And he goes: omg no its the best. omg I can't believe you're into all that stuff awesome.

It's funny to watch the rest of the girls zone out when I start talking FF with the guys. Oh man. But yes. Girl gamers... unfortunately rare O.o

I'm also the top student in my year and came top in physics and stuff, and all the guys were like NUUUU BEATEN BY A GIRL. Stupid stereotypes all over the place.

Yeah. I'm one of just two or three girls out of hundreds on various game programming forums I lurk on. It's kind of sad.

Tbh, I think its more fulfilling talking about games with female gamers sometimes. True, theres nothing like a good "Oh dude, I totally shot that guy in the face" with your guy mates playing GTA, but sometimes its nice to squeal about how cute Roxas is ^_^.

Haha yes, when AC came out in NZ I walked into local Video Ezy store with a bunch of my girl friends and saw it playing on the biggish screen down back of store. I promptly went to find it, couldn't find it (this was maybe a few days after its release?) and went to the counter to ask where it was. The dude there was starting to tell me about the game ("don't suppose you've played the original game, Final Fantasy 7...") and I joined in with what he was saying and he went, whoa!! You've played it? I said yeah, and he commented how rare it was to find girls who had played them, and then after that we had a good normal chat about it all.

I've never been dissed by a guy because I was a girl, same as Berry. In my experience there's always a WHOA moment of surprise from the guy, then chat resumes as normal.

After I've had a hard day at work, and I'm feeling like a complete stress-head, there's nothing more I like to do than kill afew people and blow their brains out. It de-stresses me in some weird way so I don't do it to the kids. And that's mainly on the PS2..my dad is the same as me, but my brother just goes on video games all the time.

Yeah, I've only played the first part of TWP. It's really fun! Most of my guy friends and my brother think they can always beat me at multi - player games, then I kick butt and they feel weird. =D It's way funny! They get so mad!

OK well being a girl gamer, I should join this thread but I have to say I haven't played a lot of games. Thats got more to do with my age than my sex. As well as KH, I'm into Spyro and Harry Potter.

I guess in my day (that is so cliche), it was things like space invaders and galaga. If it's any consolation, I used to play them back then too. We had a shop and the boys from school would come in and beat the high score and after the shop closed, I would sit there until I was back on top again. They hated being beaten by a girl but I think they respected me for it.

I also used to be into the "fighting fantasy game books". I still have them and my kids have started doing them. I noticed they've been re-released and some of the titles are the same. This is probably the closest thing we had to role play until "Dungeons and Dragons" became popular.

Hey, I totally feel that girls should be more interested in games (tomboys are awesome). I'm a guy and the thought of girls becoming gamers is the kind of thing that makes me happy that I have a sister. Although it gets annoying when she begs me to play multi-player with her, i'm glad I get to share the experience with her. I also think that guys and girls aren't so different. I mean, I cried when I saw the ending of KH1, and KH2 (the regular endings, not the secret ones). It's totally a game for everyone, and that's very appropriate. So, bottom line is, more girl gamers is great. And guys, share your games with your little sis, or that's one less female gamer to talk to.

The only girl that plays games is your sister? :eek: Wow, I have no idea why that is. Most girls I know only play games on the Wii or games that involve some movement like DDR. I have no idea why that is either.

I know for experience us guy get mad very easily when playing video games. Even the slightly thing can ticked us off. Try playing God of War II on Titan mode or just watch someone playing God of War on Titan mode.

However, we do play a lot of games. Heck, we have tournaments at college nothing, but guys here.
