It would be a good idea to have a Reputation system like kh vids.net.Sure people might abuse at times but I bet if we used it here,it would make this place cool.

Its a great idea but it's the wrong forum not unless kain can find a rep system that can be installed but i think this type of forum doesnt allow it.

vBulletin actually has a built in Rep system, but I don't wish to use it because of some of the turmoil it can cause, like TB said.

ya it should be tried for about a week or less and if anything gets out of control you can just not use that thing anymore

This idea reminds me of maple and it's defaming system. Everytime someone irritates you in the slightest way you defame them, then they end up defaming you. Since people don't like to be defamed themselves, they make extra characters ( people here could make extra accounts ) just to defame the person.

To implement this idea you have to view it from different perspectives. What if you had your reputation put down for a stupid reason like making a bad sig? Accidentally insulted someone but didn't mean it? Or perhaps even just for the sake of it?

If you end up deciding to test this for a week, there will be those which liked it and the ones who don't. Most likely these will be the ones with high reputation and low reputation respectively. So in the end, whose decision will you base it on? In the end, you're pretty much back to the same situation you are now.

I think it's fine the way it is now and by implementing such a system could cause a lot of problems. Imagine members PMing moderators going "OMG, _____ put my reputation down for no reason, please put his down too!!1". Eventually these messages will pile up to the point you'll end up ignoring them. Then after you ignore them, they get annoyed and private message you to no end, thus causing moderator's and admin's message boxes to be full and unable to receive important and urgent private messages which have some value to them.

I have been on a few forums that did use this though, but it could only be viewed by mods and admins and adjusted by them. It was to basically let them know who was the 'bad' people inthe forum who needed someone to virtualy hold their hands and guide them...

lol. Of which it is called "Infractions". ;)

The use of infractions allow us to view 'who the bad people are' on the site. They are invisible to you, but we are able to see all of the warnings/infractions that you have recieved. So..the reputation system there..necessarily isn't needed.

I'm sort of in a "ehhh.." decision about this...I really don't see a major need for it.

I agree with Kh3fan02. I know the pain it is just to keep up on those (held a mod position on another site), so if we had it where all members could do it... it would just cause to many problems. This forums is here for members to have fun, not harrass (sp?) eachother.
