well i think the design team members should be in the view forum leaders you know so people dont have to look to see who is in the design team. i know there names are in purple but still its good to have them there like what about if all of them were gone on vacation and people wanted to know who the design team members are. so what do you think of this...

Kain already told me he would go as far as the color change. We already have our own little forum area and we have custom sigs for the ones on the team.

The only ones that are to be on the forum leaders area are Admins and Mods.

Right cause the design team aren't leaders.

This could possibly be rectified with the May updates. I'm not sure yet.

I have a question/suggestion.
What of an IRC Chat Room?

That way when folks get bored and want to chat with other KH fans they're already aquainted with, they don't spam up the forum.

Could work, but I don't know how you get that on a forum. There are certain web familys designed for that, but nobody ever uses them.

We had one for FFNet, had it for other forums I've worked on. It takes a lot of time to run them, and almost nobody uses them. They just prefer the forums. Plus, since this site is geared towards a younger audience, there is an issue. Some parents may not mind forums, but hate the idea of live chat.

You make a good point, DragoonKain.

I'm only just starting to learn commands and so forth for IRC so I don't think I'd be capable of maintaining it. It's simple to create one but after that I'm basically lost. I'm only learning from my own research anyway and the info is pretty sparse. It's either too wordy or doesn't explain well enough what the command is and does or how you implement it.

BTW, 1truedarkness, do you play Guitar Hero II?:D
Great quote in your siggy.

Moderating it isn't a huge issue if people were around 24/7 to do it. I've been moderating on IRC for almost 8 years now. However, the fact is we just wouldn't have enough of an IRC-literate userbase to manage it 24/7.

There will be a May Updates thread when the updates are performed. I usually like to knock them all out on one day and present all the changes as a big ole, "SURPRISE!" sort of thing. Anyway, the changes aren't really going to be a surprise since we've been talking about them openly for quite some time now.

Lol, awww man I in part ruined it becasue I gave ideas

DragoonKain
05-19-2007, 02:47 AM
lol, I'm usually torn between whether I want to surprise people or not. In the case of this month's updates, I actually prefer there not be a surprise, so I can guage people's reactions and get feedback before the changes go live. Kind of like alpha testing a product. Once the changes go live, it's more like beta testing.

Well care to explain Your small changes and let the big changes be revaeled in a later date/

I understand, I hope the updates make the forums better. I have no idea why and I know some of you may agree with me. but lately the forums have been becoming dead, I think it's possibly because the mod's have not been around enough to cheer everyone up and make smart comments. Like Riku, he was funny, he always knew how to liven a situation up. And Kain, If you don't mind me asking, what will the updates possibly be?

DragoonKain

The most significant update is the new Team system, which hopefully will encourage more interactions. There are some minor changes to the Fan Fiction area as well. This has been a rough time for the staff lately, as many have been busy with school and work duties, and when they are here they aren't very inspired to stick around because of some problems we've had lately. All in all I'm trying my best to keep people invigorated long enough to last through the down times. If anybody has any more suggestions on ways to help, feel free to let us know.

I have one, since there is a 'Design Team' How about we have a 'Debate Team' If so, I would love to be in it.

DragoonKain
05-19-2007, 03:55 AM
Debate team isn't one we've thought of before... Well, right now we have 4 teams total planned. In the future, if the system is successful, we will add more.

As you can see in the religion, abortion and politics thread I love to debate. If you decide to make one, let me know I would love to apply for a position.

I been doing this nasty habit as well. I better correct myself of this habit I am just now aware of. ;)

That's how I've been feeling, the forums have been a little on the iffy side lately. But sadly, I'm still on every single day lol. I think I spend more time on here than some of the mod's which is pretty sad lol.

I know it's been like 2 weeks or more since I made the suggestion of an IRC chat thing but I figured another idea that can be shot down, lol.

I thought I had seen them and even used them before on a forum that I was an Admin in, chatrooms that are apart of the actual forum...sort of.

It's just a chat box that each person can open and join in when they want. It can float on the page or anchor to the side or bottom of the page.

One that I was able to find is gabbly.com

So... yeah....have at it.

Luxoran
05-22-2007, 11:36 AM
A chat room other than the actual forums? That would be called "PM"ing.

Miharu
05-22-2007, 06:12 PM
PMing only involves 2 people.

With an add-on like Gabbly, all who are on the forum can chat together.
