I would want to travel through a dark, Shadow Realm version of the worlds and find/deal with Ansem the Wise, determining what's up with Xehanort, surfacing only to talk to Sora and the others or join in at the end.

Sometimes. For parts of certain battles. With a steadily decreasing chance of him appearing. This is about playing as mickey for a whole game. (right?)

It would be cool because like Riku said you would find out a lot more about him and his story line. It would be cool if they made it like a secret cheat or give you as a reward for beating the game on a harder level. Just thinking of ideas here.:)
