I think that depends on the character type you gave your Sora at the start of the game. Because for me, it didn't take long to level up at all.

I didn't bother (or know about) levelling up the first time I played KH. Got to about level 65 I think but also didn't play the extra bosses. I'm now playing final mix and want to complete everything at the highest levels so the aim will be to take it to 100.
