View Full Version : Moonlit Eyes
This is the prologue to a book I am writing, and hope to get published. Enjoy, and tell me if you wanna read the next part.
Prologue
It was the year 3122. Giant cities were raised into the sky, and towered over the land below. Plants and animals were all but extinct, and almost all of the land had been devoured by humans.
Of course, there was one place, that was still owned by nature. It was a vast forest that stretched high into the mountain regions.
Not a soul stepped foot on the ground, for fear of what hid deep within the dark, shadowy woods.
It was a cottage… Just a simple white run down cottage in the heart of the woods. Behind that cottage is a story, a story of vengeance, loss, betrayal, and heartbreak.
This is the story that must told…

Lol, I thought no one would ask!
It was twenty one years before the fear, distress, mistrust… before the rumors. The time was 3101, the year of the Great Reverse.
For more than two thousand years, humans had treated each other as equals… brothers. Now, during the Great Reverse, the human race was split in half, not by color nor currency, but by gender.
Women would never forget how they used to be mistreated and misused, no matter how many long years had passed. Over time, men began to sink lower and lower in humanity, until they were nothing but slobs and thieves, lurking in cold, dark alleyways.
It had started with a simple woman who had an ambition. Her name was Melodis, but the women who supported her gave her the name of Madam Melody.
She lead many groups in which women slowly let society know that they were better than men. Slowly, but surly, Madam Melody gained more followers, and more power.
There had been many attempts to overthrow Madam Melody, usually made by men… but not always.
Madam Melody had many house workers. She was always hiring and firing them as soon as they made the slightest mistake. In fact, there was only one house worker who had stayed with Madam Melody all of the years she had been leader.
Madam Melody was constantly trying to catch the girl doing something, anything, wrong, even if it was something as insignificant as forgetting to add the honey to her breakfast.
The young maid didn’t make any mistake though, and Madam Melody found herself warming up to the stubborn girl.
Finally, when Madam Melody was sick in bed, the only maid she would accept was the young girl.
Some said that the girl murdered Madam Melody and took the throne for herself. Others said that Madam Melody just died and left the maid her leadership. Nobody knew for sure, but the fact was that the young maid was the new leader.
The girl tried to change what had happened, to bring men back into existence. Her attempts had failed and many women were losing patience with her.
Finally, on a cold winter day, her body was found laying under an oak tree next to a stream. She had been slaughtered by the group of women who had been Madam Melody’s other maids.
There were seven women, and together, they rose to the throne, and became… The League.

Very, very, very interesting, so far it is a good and thought out story line, do go on :D

Lol, Ok.
Few mourned for the loss of the previous leader. In fact, she was so infamous, that none could even remember her name. There were the people who did remember her though. Millions of men had had hope for the first time in a decade, and that hope had been smashed.
Finally, when men were all but extinct, and the only fairly well treated ones were the men that worked for the women, a single hero arose. His name was Jessip Korwen.
He roamed the streets, gathering all of the other men that were willing to join him in his quest to show women that men could still put up a vicious fight.
Eventually, rumors about the men turned into truth. The men were beginning to grow stronger with every passing day, and even some women were joining their ranks.
For years the women searched and searched for the men’s fort, in order to plan a sneak attack, but the base of operations was hidden from all but the Korwens.
Eventually, the tension became too much. Jessip Korwen was gathering his men for war, and the League was prepared to take on any attacks.
Finally the war day came. Thousands of men marched to the gates of the city, with the light of battle in their eyes. They fought for freedom and hope, and the women fought for royalty.
At the gates of a great city, the two sides met. Sword on sword, gun against gun. Wounded people staggered like drunkards across the battle field, tripping over lost souls.
The war was getting no where. It was clear that there would be no victor, but still the fight raged on. Jessip Korwen stood, outnumbered by the members of the League, and yet his courage did not falter for a moment.
Finally, he killed off the sixth member of the League, and he was in hand to hand combat with the seventh. He pinned the woman to the ground, and held a pocket knife to her throat.
“This is for what you did to…” He paused in mid sentence, his words eaten up by the sudden attack. His limp body flew across the sky, and the whole war halted to see what had happened.
The roar ripped through the chilled air, bringing even the strongest of warriors to their knees. All eyes turned to face Jessip Korwen’s murderer.
The Beast…

Awww I was beginning to like Jessip lol, sheesh woman are original gangsters in this story
Awww I was beginning to like Jessip lol, sheesh woman are original gangsters in this story
Yes. Lol, I like Jessip too. But the real story begins with Mystique...
* * *
Mystique awoke, her heart pounding in her ears. The screams and groans from her nightmare still echoed through her brain. Perspiration formed on her brow.
It was the dream. The same dream she had so many nights since the death of her father. Why? Why did the world have to be so cruel to someone so young? What caused the monster from her past to torment her future? And the greatest question of all… When would it come for her?
She could almost see it’s huge black form outside her bedroom window, lurking in the darkness that it so enjoyed. So many years had passed, and yet still it haunted the deepest corners of her thoughts.
She lifted up out of her bed and walked to the door. Why did she have to be one of the beast’s many victims?
Her shoulders sagged, and she walked out of her room and down the curving hallway to her living room. A group of tiny fluffy balls came up to meet her. They wrapped their small tails around her legs, and made pleasant rumbling sounds from their throats.
She reached down and stoked their tender and frail backs. She couldn’t resist smiling. It was luck that she should own some of the legendary animals. She loved kittens so much. They seemed to take away all of her pain and sadness.
Breeding cats was her hobby. She planned on starting a cat conservation program when she got older, but until then, she would simply nurture and raise the feline friends.
It was saddening, that these little animals were all that Mystique ever got to see of nature. She looked out of her window and into the clouds that hovered dangerously close to the apartment roof. Then her eyes slowly crept down the wall of air, until she was staring far below, at the flowing street of vehicles. Though her eyes could not see it, she knew it was there; the land beneath the city, the place that she often called, ‘true ground.’
All of the cities, for miles around, were towering high above the ground, held in the air by millions of wood and cement columns. The leaders who had built the raised cities, had sacrificed their lives to make sure that not a single person could ever get down to the ground. All of this was just to prevent ‘it’ from attacking the innocent citizens.
Unfortunately, their sacrifices had been in vain. Only a few years after the people of the world had first started living above the ground, ‘it’ attacked. What the people of the old world had not known, was that the beast could fly.
That one unlucky day, was the very day that the whole world would be hit by the reality of the treacherous beast; but Mystique would be the only one to truly feel the terror of seeing the monster, eye to eye.
Mystique blinked, longing to rid her mind of that terrible image that had tormented every aspect of her life for six long years. Instead, she sat and pet her tumbling kittens, letting her mind wander. Eventually, her thoughts strayed upon her mother, whom had only recently left to visit family members.
Mystique had refused to accompany her mother on the trip, stating that it would keep from school for too long, and she would be bound to repeat the school year. After hours of persuasion, Mystique’s mother had finally been convinced to leave Mystique with her best friend, Moniqua. The whole thing had been a set up of course. Moniqua had never even known that Mystique’s mom was leaving, and that was how Mystique wanted it.
She longed to be alone with her pets and her studies, and to keep as far away from reality as she could. Mystique had also gone to the library at least once every week so that she could rent books about the old world. More than ever, she loved reading about trees and bushes, and the strange exotic animals that once lived on the ground.
Now days, the only patch of land that was not covered by cements columns, was a huge forest that covered a vast mountain region. Mystique would constantly dream about what it would be like to see this world one day, and understand the true meaning of Mother Nature

Oh, I thought she was lol, and of course
Oh, I thought she was lol, and of course
Ok, here goes. :p
She sighed, this could never happen of course. There were no walkways or ladders that lead down to the true ground. Mystique knew that the closest she would ever get to a tree, was by staring at the pages of a book, or by trying to gaze through the thick fog that wafted just below the cement world.
Mystique stood, dawn sunlight beginning to filter through her apartment window and onto her face. The fifteen year old girl suddenly felt cramped in the tiny room, and she was getting restless. She decided to walk around outside, at least until school started.
Quickly, she stripped off her pajamas and pulled on one of her mother’s oversized t-shirts. Then she shooed a sleeping cat off a box on the floor, and took a pair of worn jeans out of it.
She walked over to the thick glass door that served as an entrance to the small living space. Suddenly she found herself remembering the huge home that she had lived in with her father and mother. That house had had huge wooden doors, thick and impenetrable, or so it had seemed…
She shook her head desperately, trying to clear her mind of the cruel memories. Her brown and knotted hair hung down in front of her amber eyes, and she reached up and tucked it behind her ear.
Then she put her hand up against the glass door, accessing a little holographic keyboard. She typed in a password of six numbers, and spoke the word, “open.” Almost instantly, the sliding glass door retreated into the wall, and Mystique walked into the freezing cold thin air.
With her thoughts clouded, and her mind in another dimension, Mystique muttered the word, “close” and began walking, as the sliding glass door slowly shut. She started walking off, but something suddenly held her rigid to the spot.
The blood curdling yowl made Mystique blanch. Her skin was white as paper when she turned back toward her apartment door. The computer voice of the door confirmed that it had closed on something solid, and Mystique fell to her knees.
The little black kitten’s bones were jumbled up in a heap against the wall. Mystique began to cry, even as the blood crept down the outdoor hallway toward her. She leaned forward and carefully hoisted the crippled form into her arms.
“Hey…” She cried, pushing the kittens little jaw closed with one finger, “having your mouth open like that up here could kill you.” She said, trying to fake a smile, but Mystique knew that the kitten was dead, she simply could not accept it.
Mystique stood up and ran, curving around the apartment little by little. Her apartment, like all others, had a single outdoor hallway that was about as wide as a street. The walkway circled around the building and curved gracefully into the road below.
Mystique ran, blinded by icy cold tears. The farther she got on the walkway, the easier it became to breath, and the more people there were, leaving for work. Mystique stopped and begged every single person she saw to help heal her mangled pet. Most people ignored her or just shook their heads sadly, but Mystique simply couldn’t believe what was happening.

No. SHe lives in an apartment, but it's in the future, after the Beast attacked. All of the world is built up on wodden and cement pillars, because people once thought that they could escape the beast by doing so.
I guess you're right, We'll pm eachother the rest. And I thought I posted this under literature/fanfics... Oh well...
