Hmm, Idk So many ninjas and all you guys have your own opinion. I mean if you say someone could beat someone else and the person like that someone were gonna get a fight. Then this thread is gonna keep with the fighting on whos the best. IDK...But, I wouldn't really say any cause personally i think they all have there own way of fighting and pretty much there all good in their own way. >.<

Pein, Obito...Tobi, Minato Namikaze (Fouth Hokage), and kakashi are cool, but i prefer kurenia, Genjutsu is underated in Naruto, and it is great.... points at Itachi, breaking the mind and will of your opponents is definately the best form of battle

Well the best ninja can't be any Akatsuki ninja, since they are overall bad ninjas in that they betrayed their villages. -No matter how strong or cool they are.- Likewise I wouldn't give it to Shikamaru since he is not really devoted or motivated, thus fails as a great ninja. Likewise I can't give it to Sakura because she, among other things, breaks the shinobi rule about killing your feelings to complete the mission. Overall I guess Kakashi is a candidate, however I am going to nominate some somewhat forgotten characters such as Kimimaru -flawlessly performed any task that was asked of him, undoubtedly loyal and capable of killing even the most skilled of ninja-, 3rd Kazekage -Lets face it, he was loyal, strong and intelligent enough to lead the leaf village, and even gave his life to protect it- and Sai -Lets face it, Sai was the perfect ninja, capable of lying, killing without mercy and getting close to his target through deception.

Likewise I consider Kakashi and Lee excellent ninja, however they both overestimate themselves. Likewise Neji might have made the cut if he hadn't tried to kill Hinata. Finally we didn't get to see much of the Fourth and as thus, despite comments about him, I haven't included him in my assessment.

On a final note my assessment was based not solely on strength, but loyalty, stealth/underhanded technique, and other various aspect of being a ninja. Thus I am saying that these are the best at being a ninja, like I said in many aspects the characters who did not make it are better fighters or people, however they are not better ninja. Thus even though Gaara beat Kimimaru, since Gaara started out as a homicidal time bomb he has no chance at being called the best ninja. >.>

OK Theoretically, Sasori would be the king of all shinobi. He would be the god of shinobi. Think of it this way, his Hiruko(sp?) ability to make people that have bloodlines involving chakra into puppets pawns. He can use Nidaime and Shodaime Hokages as puppets, he can use anybody as a puppet if he kills them or they are dead. Then next, he has the technique to use fifty puppets at once, or maybe it was one hundred. Now tell me, fifty/100 puppets can destroy a village. Now imagine a shadow clone with him he'd be unstoppable. I don't remember how he died. Now lets see he has Third Kazekage who has the Satetsu(iron sand). Thats him in theory.
Next practically, we have to go with Uchiha Madara. He is the best ninja considering he has Mangekyou, he's old so he's got experience, he beat the Shodaime, finally, he controls Akatsuki.
Next there is also Orochimaru who can ressurect the dead, and control them, imagine him with lots of Kages.
Next we have the Jinchuuriki who can rely on their demons to win.
Then we have Kakuzu, who killed the Shodaime, and plenty of other people, has five hearts, five extra hearts.
Then we have Hidan, who is immortal and was only beaten by being buried I think, or did Naruto use Futon RasenShuriken?
Anyways, we can see Sasuke also as a candidate, as he had beaten Naruto in the second fight, he has sharingan, he's trained by Orochimaru so he may know his techniques etc.
Naruto can't be considered because he doesn't seem to have overall power, more as in he has a few powerful techniques and his demon's chakra.
Lee can be considered, however he doesn't have ninjutsu or genjutsu so he is lacking.
Itachi is in a way the perfect shinobi as he uses ninjutsu, taijutsu, and genjutsu, all in a powerful fighting style.

Besides the fact that Sasori is a failure as a ninja....you know the whole loyalty to your master while you kill of anyone they say type thing and him betraying his village and all, he got beat by a little girl and an old lady. I mean honestly, the legendary Sasori of the red sand gets pwned by his grandma and Sakura. o-o I hardly think he is in any position to be considered the best. Likewise Kisame could beat him easily, I think Itachi could also win but am not sure how the whole Mangekyo thing would work out with Sasori. In short Sasori really isn't all that great.... -_-

Secondly we really haven't seen what Tobi can do and thus can hardly consider him for a candidate. Likewise if you are going to nominate people from Akatsuki then Pein, who has never lost a match, should be the first one the list from his resume.

Thirdly Orichimaru falls under the same category as the Akatsuki, he is a traitor. Additionally his sickness prevents him from being a capable ninja, I mean Sasuke basically pulled the plug on his life support and killed him off....that is how he really won you know.

The Biju also each have various powers, I don't see why you are lumping them all together. I mean Gaara's and Naruto's abilities are vastly different, if you are going to nominate one of them then they should be separated. Likewise how one uses their Biju's powers is also a large factor.

Kazuku is also to greedy and would be easily distracted if somebody threw money around, and Hidan is a jehovah's witness. Likewise they were killed by a gennin and a chunnin, somehow I am not that impressed. >.>

I do however consider Naruto a viable candidate since he has a large reserve of chakra besides the Kyubi's and some powerful techniques and strategies. A comparison of him and Sasuke shows that even though Sasuke beat him, Naruto is still in the lead.

To elaborate Lee beat Sasuke, and Lee was in turn beat by Neji on a daily basis, thus Naruto who beat Neji indirectly beat Lee. Likewise Sasuke lost to both Gaara and Haku, but Naruto beat them both....saving poor little Sasuke in the process.

Plus, Sasuke only won against Naruto with a combination of the fortuitious development of his sharingan(Due to the curse seal) and the love mark Orichimaru left on him(Curse seal). o-o Sasuke sucks and Naruto deserved to win.

Itachi on grounds stated before has yet to show whether or not he is the perfect ninja in terms of loyalty, depending on what his reason for killing his entire clan was -as in did he do it to join Akatsuki, on Tobi's or Pein's order or something like that, or is his reason of doing it just to test himself true? Anyways as far as fighting matters go he is probably the strongest in Akatsuki besides perhaps Pein and Tobi. o-o I think he could take Sasori even without the Mangekyo or genjutsu.

I would have to agree with you- I mean you can't top and IQ of 200+, but Yellow Flash is also pretty cool and I think they tie.... but if shikamaru actually tried I rekcon he could become Hokage, but that's me....ROFL:) :) :)
