[Namine, Chooser of Light]

Okay, this is my first thread, so here goes:

The worst is now over for Meggie. Capricorn is dead. She is reunited with her mother, who was finally brought out of Inkheart. When Meggie's father, Mo, tries to bring the author out of his own story, Dustfinger, their old friend, is sucked in. However, the person who comes out is not the author. Again, Meggie is staring at Capricorn's lifeless face, who, again, is in their living room. With the help of other characters, can Meggie manage to kill Capricorn once and for all?

((okay, we can start. This is right after Capricorn comes out of the book.))

Unable to believe it, I stared into the face of my old enemy, who, wobbly on his new three-dimensional legs, stood, looking at us all. Immediately, he lunged for the book, but Mo swiped it up, standing. "Capricorn...how-" He cut my father off, turning his lifeless eyes on me. I was scared-too scared to say or do much. I backed against the wall, wimpering slightly. He said nothing, as we all expacted, only turned, shotgun in hand, and went out. Amazed, we all stared at ech other for a minute, then at the book. We knew we had to keep it from him at all costs, since Dustfinger and Fenoglio were trapped there.

Mo, who had been reading aloud from Angel War after Capricorn had left, was not surprised to see a young man appear on their living room floor. Slightly nervous, I scooted closer to my mother, who was not there. She had gone in the book. I exchanged frightened glances with my father, and looked back at the young man.

" oww my head" rex said holding his head.

Mo closed the book, and went over to the young man, who was not much younger than Dustfinger. "Hello, Rex. I'm sorry this happened; are you all right?" He cast a worried glance back to the spot where my mom had been, and I knew what he was thinking. He had lost his wife again. He was looking at me so sadly that I didn't protest, leaving. Mo turned back to Rex. "Now, we need someone else here, someone who will go in her place. Do you think you can help me find someone?"

Mo nodded, standing, and went outside, motioning for Rex to follow. "I don't feel comfortable doing this, but if it will make you happy, that's fine with me. Are you sure you don't want to go back?" he asked, eyeing a young man across the street. I followed them out, but before I could get far, I spotted Gwin, and went over to him. Poor Gwin...he must be looking for Dustfinger, who's in the book. Why wasn't Gwin there when Dustfinger went back?

Capricorn roamed the city, looking for a car he could steal, and reinforcements he could recruit before getting the book back. He would have gotten the book and the girl, too, if he hadn't been so wobbly. He had a job to do.

Gwin saw her and got happy. She smelled like the inside of Dusfingers book. "Brrrrii" Gwin trilled.

[Namine, Chooser of Light]

Smiling, I picked Gwin up, scratching her behind the ears. "Gwin, I'm sorry you didn't make it back with Dustfinger, but don't worry, I'll try to get you back soon. I promise," she whispered, taking her inside.

Mo ndged Rex, asking, "Is that one good, or should we keep searching?"

Finally able to steal a car, Capricorn made the journey back to his ruined city. This is Silvertongue and Dustfinger's doing...they will pay, both of them. I need the girl and his stupid Marten, that should get them running. Then I'll have them both.

Mo took the book, flipped to the right passage, and read. Fifteen minutes later, the boy was gone, and Mmi stood beside Rex, dazed.

I sat in Mo's house, waiting for he and Rex to return. Where had they gone? Mo had the book I needed, so I needed him here.

Soon, Capricorn was standing in front of his ruined house, seething. He had to put his plan into action soon if he was going to destroy Inkheart.

Mo sighed, and said, "Rex, do you want me to tell her, or should I?" He stared at Mimi, astonished. I've never been able to control that before. How did this happen?

Mo smiled sympathetically; he knew all too well what characters felt like when they were taken out of their story. "Mimi, I'm Mo. I'm sorry I did that, but it was for Rex. I took you out of Angel Wars, into this world."

Mo(Meggie's dad), brought Rex out of Angel Wars, and then Meggie was kidnapped by Capricorn, who still wants to destroy Inkheart, the book he was brought out of. Sometime Meggie will escape, and bring more characters out of books, so they can kill Capricorn.

I sat in the same cowshed as I had last year, 'suite' number four. I had very few books with me, and I spread them out in front of me, trying to choose. "Let's see...Megaman Star Force...The Adventures of Tom Sawyer...The Princess Bride". I decided to go with the one I hadn't read yet; I picked up Megaman Star Force, and began reading aloud.

((Umm...I guess just post Ryan doing something, and then Meggie(or her father, depending on the reader) will read a passage with you in it, pulling you out and into the 'suite' she's locked in.))

"This is it Mega. The FM King is in the room behind that door." Ryan said as he looked at the huge black door.
"Are you ready Ryan?" Mega asked.
"I think so. Now lets go beat the FM King." Ryan said as he walked towrds the door.

I had just finished the paragraph where Ryan and Mega were heading toward the King's door. The next thing I knew, Ryan was sprawled on the floor in front of me, and the guard outside was gone, into the book. I smiled, knowing he'd love it there...coming back to my senses, I stared at Ryan, still lying on the floor. "Hey, Ryan, are you okay?" I held out my hand, hoping he wouldn't shove me over in an attempt to get out of here, like Farid had.

Ryan got up from the ground and he was confussed.
"Where am I? And where's Mega?" Ryan said as he looked around. He had no idea where he was. He looked around, completly unaware where he was.

[Namine, Chooser of Light]

I was suddenly aware of the deathly silence outside. What was going on? Had anyone heard this happen? I turned to Ryan, frowning slightly. "Ryan, I'm sorry," I held up his book, "you were the only one who came out. I don't think I could risk Mega. I'm Meggie. I was the one who brought you out...oh, I'm so sorry." Like my father, I also knew the pain and confusion a character gets when being brought out of their own story. I offered my hand to him, standing.

Ryan shook Maggie's hand. He was still confussed oabout where he was.
"So where am I?" Ryan asked as he looked around.
"I doesn't look like a plesent place." He added.

[Namine, Chooser of Light]

My face was suddenly grim as I answered, "It's not. Oh, why won't Mo and Dustfinger come?!" I cried, tears leaking out. I quickly wiped them, and, hearing footsteps, whispered, "Ryan-someone's coming! Quick, hide!" I pushed him in one of the piles of hay, holding my breath. A voice-one I hadn't expected to hear-said, "Don't worry, kid, you'll have a girl and the wretched marten for company." The door opened, and the unexpected light blinded me; for a minute, I couldn't recognize the dark figure in front of me. When my eyes readjusted, I whispered, "Farid!" and hugged him tightly. Gwin, happy to see another familiar face, scurried out, crawling up Farid's arm, who laughed. Then, I went Ryan, and said, "Okay, you can come out. Sorry about all that, Ryan, but I couldn't remind anyone of my ability."

Ryan pushed his way out of the hay. The hay stuck to him and was hard to get off.
"Ability? I wonder what she means." Ryan thought. He was confussed and didn't kniw what to do. One mnute he was about to fight the FM King and the next minute he was in a grim place.
"Where am I?" Ryan asked agian. He wanted to know where he was to help him understand the reason why he was there.

Obviously shy, Farid stepped back, and I explained, "Well, there is an evil dictator who rules this city. His name is Capricorn. When I was three, he escaped the boudaries of his book, Inkheart, and built this city. Last year, he captured my father and I, and when I was captured a second time, he made me bring back an old friend of his, who, with the author's help, turned on Capricorn, killing him. I just don't know how he came back to life, and I don't know why he wants me again this time, but now, I'm determined to kill him, once and for all." A warlike gleam shone in my eyes, and I lookked at the two boys, wondering what they would say. Farid came from the corner. "Where is Dustfinger?" The gleam vanished, and I shook my head. "Farid, he's in Inkheart, where he's wanted to be. As for Mo, I'm not entirely sure. Does anyone here know how to pick locks?" I looked back and forth between my friends, wondering if anyone could Farid shook his head, saying he had forgotten. "Ryan, do you know how?" I asked, turning to him.

Flatnose, currently guarding the door, saw us, and gave me a sly smile before running off to alert Capricorn. "Let's go, now, before he comes back!" Farid exclaimed. I nodded, running out the door.

Mo nodded in approval, and turned to Oruchiha. "We don't need to go by plane, but thanks for the suggestion. Do you want to come with us?"

I ran on until I was sure no one could see me, then stopped to rest. As I sat, I accidentally sat on a book. Farid picked it up, read the title, and handed it to me. "Thanks," I whispered, leafing through it's pages. Sitting by a dim lightbulb, I began to read.

I had begun reading aloud, but at barely a whisper. I was getting to a huge battle scene with Travis in it, when I heard voices directly behind me.

Mo stared at Travis, wondering who had brought him out. "Alright, if you want to come with us, you'd better get in," he said, starting up the car.

As Flatnose and his partner towed Farid and I back, I clung to the book tightly. If they took it away, I would have nothing to practice my ability with. As much as we struggled, the men had an iron grip, and means of escape were useless.

Mo shut the door and drove off, cutting off the main road as soon as the saw the right one. The village they had been travelling in ended, and it suddenly got darker. Before long, they found themselves at the bridge, and Mo drove across it, windering what I was doing at the moment.

Soon I found myself facing Capricorn, who looked at me with his lifeless eyes. "Okay, little witch, what will I do with you now, since you turned the Shadow on me? What will I do as we wait..." he trailed off, deep in thought. Farid and I exchanged worried glances, and, after fifteen minutes, Capricorn had us tied up, sitting in the dreary church where we couldn't move, under his constant watch. A few minutes later, two of his men brought an unconscious boy in, and Capricorn waved them away, telling them to throw him in suite nimber four. I stared at the boy, wondering why he was here.

I stared at the boy who was suddenly behind Capricorn, wondering what would happen. Capricorn turned his lifeless eyeson Oruchiha, and said, "Very good, now, here is your shotgun and jacket." He handed the boy the things, waiting for him to put it on. I contiued to stare at him, wondering why he was here. Farid slumped beside me, asleep.

Mo got out of the car, waited for Rex, and walked into the village, Inkheart in his black jacket. He handed a similar one to Rex, saying, "Here, put this on-it's the jackets Capricorn's men use. Here is a shotgun, they carry those around, too." He slung his gun over his shoulder and continued walking.

I stared, horrified, at Oruchiha. Had he really said what I just heard? What was his goal? Capricorn shook his head, saying, "No, boy, not mind control-but that does sound like a good idea...If Basta doean't return, then you'll become my second in command," he said, turning to look at me, now.

Hearing a brawl somewhere, Mo ran in that direction, just in time to see Travis and Oruchiha fighting. He took out his shot gun, aiming it for a clone. Soon, only the real Oruchiha was left. Taking this chance, Mo cornered him, saying, "Tell me where Capricorn and my daughter are, and I won't hurt you."

Capricorn stared at his new "crow", wondering how he could appear and disappear like that. He cast a quick glance at me, then asked, "What do you need, Oruchiha?" I looked at him again, wondering if he was like Dustfinger, helping both sides out only to get back in his own story.

I jumped, surprised. As Capricorn gave him the bullets, I asked, "Excuse me, but, can you read someone's thoughts? Dustfinger is a friend of mine." At the mention of his master, Gwin raised his head from Farid's shoulder, looking around excitedly. Capricorn looked at me strangely, as if to say, Him? Reading someone else's thoughts? That's crazy!

Mo continued to destroy the clones, and asked, "Travis, tell me this: Are you on our side or Capricorn's?"

You're daughter has the exact thing you do, which means you're relieved. I'm not giving her up, not when she's of so much use to me." I continued to struggle, saw Oruchiha, and narrowed my eyes. "Mo, go home! You'll only get into more danger if you try to save me. I'll be fine, really." I smiled, but he wasn't convinced.

I looked at Mo and Oruchiha desperately. Farid wakes up, and, remembering where he was, let out a stream of curses in every language he knew. Capricorn watches us, and laughs. "Very well, Oruchiha. Guards!" Five of his cronies appear. "Take Silvertongue, her daughter, the indian boy, and that wretched marten away." They obeyed, one grabbing me, one Mo, one Oruchiha, one Farid, and one Gwin. They carried us off, taking us to "suite" #4, throwing us all in. Farid runs at the door as it closes, kicking it and screaming. Mo retreats to a corner, taking Inkheart out; I sat on one of the four haystacks, wondering how we were going to escape this time, since no one would come and deliberately unlock the door, like last year.

Gwin eats the bread and vanishes. Again I look at Oruchiha, wondering how he did it. There was some noise outside, made up of Gwin's screeching, the guards yelling, and their unconscious bodies hitting the ground.The key clicks in the lock, and the door swings open. Gwin drops from the door, puts the key at Farid's feet, and goes hunting. Farid picks up the key, and he, Mo and I walk out.

When I asked my unanswered question, Mo said, "Meggie, It's impossible without Fenoglio. He needs to be here in order for it to happen, but he's inside his own story. He can't change anyone's fate that way. I'm sorry, but it's the truth."

We nodded, watching the clones go away with him. Soon, we were at my aunt's house, with all the fairies and trolls The Shadow had eaten before killing Capricorn. I got out, wondering what would happen next.

Once inside Elinor's house, Mo, Farid and I got to gether, and closed our eyes.

The clones came to life, and we directed them to Capricorn's church. His cronies were running around like crazy, but the clones ignored them, going directly to Capricorn. Mo held up Inkheart, and began to read aloud. Thirty minutes later, Capricorn was in the book, and Fenoglio out.

So nice of you to join us. As for that? Oh, we had help from a friend. Now, all we need to do is destroy the book, but we need him here for it. I wonder where he is..."

Fenoglio seemed to be considering this. A few minutes later, he nodded, and Mo started a fire. Farid, and Fenoglio, who did not want to see the book burn, went into the corner. Mo and I got close to the fireplace, waiting for Oruchiha to join us.

Mo handed me the book, and I exchanged glances with Fenoglio, who seemed all too eager to get this over with. Taking one last look at Inkheart, I threw it in the fire, watching the flames lick it hungrily. Soon it was ash, and Mo stepped back, sitting in a chair. So, that was it. Dustfinger got his wish, and so did Fenoglio. Inkheart was destroyed once and for all, and all this trouble would end...for now.
