C++ was written (or at least finished) in 1983.
Its name is a joke: First there was the programming language 'A', then 'B' then 'C' and (this is why programmers shouldn't name anything) someone thought it would be a great pun so the guys who wrote it, named it C++ (++ increments a variable by 1)
